Not Following the Crowd
Our future events are here [WordPress website](https://notfollowingthecrowd.wordpress.com/) **Prospective Members**: read on... Please click **“Request to Join”** both this group (NFC), as well as [Fusion for Get-Aways](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/) and, perhaps, our third group, [Canasta](https://www.meetup.com/nfc-canasta-east-kent/). Once you **“Request to Join”**, you will normally be added to the Meetup membership list within 24 hours and you will see the word “pending” underneath your name when you look at the list of all the members. You can pay the subs as soon as you like but “Pending” members are only left there for about one week then their account is closed. Most people stay as a pending member until they rsvp an event usually in the first couple of days of joining. Then they need to contribute to the fees we pay Meetup to use their software. The charge is £3 per person for all the groups (not each) for 365 days membership from your date of joining so make sure you have “Requested to Join” both [NFC ](https://www.meetup.com/nfc-eastkent/)and [Fusion](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/). Please pay NFC bank account £3.00 membership: Lyn D Pettman Nationwide Sort Code 07-02-46 Account Number 27733150 *Singles and couples of any age welcome (18+).* **NFC** (Not Following the Crowd) offers a wide range of events—days out, gardens, museums, walks (3 – 5 miles), bimbles (½ – 2 miles flat), local theatre productions, visiting speakers, live on big screen (opera, ballet and theatre) Shakespeare live, church & graveyard tours, and items “the crowd” miss. Several of our members are active hosts and publish events including music, cinema, 10-pin bowling, quizzes and even pub crawls and casino ladies' evenings. We also attend music events for bands on UK tours and engage in sporting activities such as petanque, occasional kayaks, pickle ball and Bat & Trap (we own our own traps), 10-pin bowling and country/coast walking. Our other group **[Fusion](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/)** hosts our long term planning such as boat charters to the Goodwin Sands where we bulk buy tickets very early. Also, and for our established members, Getaways, City breaks and international trips. This year 2023 we went to [Istanbul ](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/290493747/)in March and [Ironbridge](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/290495110/) in May, [Portsmouth](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/292638086/) in June as well as [Potters in Essex](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/290496431/); in July we stayed at Newcastle for [Tall Ships at Hartlepool](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/290495817/) and later [National Trust West Kent](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/290496180/), August was the  [Eastbourne Air Show](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/290963569/) and September we stayed in Antwerp for the flower show just over the border at [Zundert, Netherlands for Flower Festival](https://www.meetup.com/fusion-ramsgate/events/291595148/). If you live outside this area the travel connections to attend some events can be difficult though the direct trains from Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay, & Deal stations are good. **Small print:** *Photographs*: All members need to have and maintain a recognizable, recent photograph of themselves before being accepted as a full member so we can find each other at public events and identify on Zoom *Active Members*: We are seeking to have an active membership who have the opportunity to meet regularly on a local basis. We don’t wish to attract members who are unlikely to attend and appear to joining without the interest of meeting new people; so if you are in a dozen or more Meetup Groups you will not normally be approved as a new or renewing member. (Meetups associated with professional work not counted particularly the IT Groups.) We use a proper web page (rather than the App) to see the dates supplied by Meetup of when members last looked at the website and when members attended events.  [https://www.meetup.com/nfc-eastkent/members/](https://www.meetup.com/nfc-eastkent/members/) Sort by last visited. Do check your own IT system (phone, ipad etc is registering your activity) *Inactive members*: If the Meetup website shows you have not looked for three months we shall enquire if you wish to remain as a member. If you don’t attend an event for 6 months you must expect your membership to be closed. If you are new prospective member and unpaid you will have the membership closed after one reminder. Canasta on-line runs on Zoom and we restrict this to UK only. *Plus Ones*: we don’t do plus one’s. All people coming to events need to pay for a membership and display a recent photo. *Visitors*: We no longer do visitor’s passes as Meetup have changed their rules regarding “Release” see paragraph 6 of [Meetup’s Terms of Service](https://help.meetup.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027447252). *Getaways*: New members need to establish themselves in the Group before they can come away on holidays so we don’t end up away with strangers. Free Meditation & Yoga in East Kent

Deal, G5

Free Meditation & Yoga in East Kent
**For Online meetings please visit:** [https://www.sahajayogalondon.co.uk/events/zoom-yoga-meditation-online/](https://www.sahajayogalondon.co.uk/events/zoom-yoga-meditation-online/) We'd like to welcome you to our three **FREE** Sahaja Yoga meditation meetings in Deal. With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and no special clothing required. We are all volunteers of a Charity organisation and have many years of experience in offering free Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes. All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most **transformative energy** of all is hiding in plain sight, within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable. It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it — everyone!. It is often likened to an inner feminine or motherly energy which automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us **restore balance and harmony** within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, organically and cannot be paid for. The classes are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is **quite effortless and spontaneous**. The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a **state of yoga**, and they are available across London most evenings and throughout the UK. The idea is that you don't do yoga - you Achieve Yoga! Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple, time-honored technique. It helps those who enjoy it, **reduce stress and increase wellness and health holistically.** It brings better focus and helps people become more centered and better balanced. Anyone can do it. Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a world wide movement for **peace and self awakening**. All the meetings and classes are free of any charge. Each week we go through **simple meditation techniques**, often with guided meditations to help **re**duce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation. We share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and **balancing the subtle body**. The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with **no mental activity or thoughts** about the past or the future. Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a **natural state** of being.

Kent Socialites

Herne Bay, G5

Kent Socialites
Kent Socialites (KS) is one of the most active  meetup groups in Kent. If you are looking to widen your circle of friends, meet new people and participate in diverse and many affordable activities in Kent, then KS is for you.  Events include walks, night outs, day / weekend trips to Europe, comedy nights, live music, competitions, arts and more. We even have the occasional fancy dress event and pub crawl. You are sure to find something of interest ... if not, then why not suggest one? Members are encouraged to host their own events and some family events are sometimes added.  We rarely cancel an event; maybe less than a handful in 4 years. We certainly don't cancel an event for uneconomic reasons or if the event isn't attracting many rsvps. The organisers are a dedicated group and when an event is published, they really want to attend it. The group is very friendly and is aimed at the 40s - 50s age group, but younger and older members are more than welcome..Whilst we are not a Singles or Dating site, it would be good to have more gender balanced events. All we ask is that you are not a compete 'plank', or a moaning Minnie.  **Remember KS is a SOCIAL GROUP, not a dating site.**  SOME RULES: The group is fairly relaxed ... with few rules, however **we do insist your profile includes a clear photo of yourself and that you live in Kent.** A clear photo is for the safety of all members.  Additionally it is essential that Event Organisers and other members are able to recognise you when you attend events. It is important that members live in Kent to keep the group active and member driven, not relying on a small number of local organisers.  Non-Kent dwellers are most welcome to attend events as guests of members whom they know. We reserve the right to refuse membership where we consider that membership may be to the detriment of the values of Kent Socialites.   We also reserve the right to withdraw membership if any member has 3 'No shows' where they have not turned up for events and not given sufficient notice of cancellation to the event host. We reserve this right even if that member has paid their KS fees. No shows are inconsiderate towards the other members as they waste everyone's time when a whole group could be kept waiting for someone who hasn't changed their rsvp. We reserve the right to withdraw membership if Membership Fees have not been paid. FEES: The membership fee is only £5 per annum and covers the Meetup fees and expenses of running the club.  All remaining monies raised are donated to a charity chosen by the KS members.  KS has donated over £7,000 to charities in the past 4 years.     Our FaceBook Group is here - [https://www.facebook.com/groups/KentSocialites/](https://www.facebook.com/groups/KentSocialites/) So what are you waiting for? Sign up now! Jump on board and we are sure this group will work for you.

The links for these will be supplied on your Welcome message or please ask a group Co-Organizer for the details. Please also check out our Facebook group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/25to45incanterburyfolkestonethanet **Get Involved** Members are also most welcome to organise their own events. Please contact one of the group Co-Organisers if you wish to become an Event Organiser to host events. You will play a key role in the success of this group! **Group Rules** To ensure everyone has a great experience, we ask all members and event organisers to adhere to the following rules: * **RSVP:** Please keep your RSVPs up-to-date. If you can no longer attend, please change your RSVP status as soon as you can so that the event host is aware. This allows others to take your spot if the event is full. * **Be punctual:** Arrive on time, especially for events with set schedules such as meals out, where the host may have booked a table at a certain time, or walks where the aim is for everyone to depart on the walk together. If you're running late, please try your best to let the event host know. * **Respect and politeness:** One of this group’s benefits is you can meet and connect with people from a range of diverse backgrounds. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Any harassing or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated and will result in removal from the group. Please reach out to a group Co-Organiser if you have any concerns. * **Focus on friendships:** Although we fully encourage people to find lasting and meaningful relationships here, whether they be romantic or otherwise, this group is not a dating site and has been set up for the purposes of making friends. Please be mindful of your behaviour to ensure everyone feels comfortable. **Contribution to Costs** The group is free to join and, unless specified, the events are free to attend. We don't run the group for profit, but it does cost us money to have the group on Meetup and we also purchase various bits of equipment for some of the events. Therefore, once a year we kindly request a small contribution, suggested at £6 from each active member. You will hopefully agree it is quite a bargain for what the group offers. Thank you for joining our community. We’re excited to meet you and hope you enjoy our events!
