Bourne and Beyond
Curious about why you should join yet another local group? Firstly, we are a very welcoming, friendly and vibrant group run by an enthusiastic and local leadership team. Members are mostly from the surrounding areas and usually in their 40s, 50s and 60s. This doesn't exclude those from further afield or exclude those younger or older! You are welcome to join, if you have a link to the area, new to the area or perhaps are keen to make new friends or try something different for 2023. Secondly, our group's vision is to create interesting and enjoyable events that get us out of the house! With a greater focus on town rather than city activities, we love everything from good conversation relaxing in pubs to letting our hair down and dancing all night! We enjoy attending local gigs and festivals, organising well planned country walks and we especially love to try delicious food at local restaurants! Our main aim is to ensure that you find leaving the house, perhaps meeting a bunch of strangers for the first time, a worthwhile experience, as we have all been there! So, we encourage everyone to try us out and see for yourself that it's a mixed group of friendly people from all walks of life. As we are democratically run, we value all active members and we encourage everyone to share or suggest ideas for local (or further afield) events. If you are keen to expand your social group, or just feel you'd like to show your face now and again, you are welcome to join in (plus fees have been waived for 2023!).

Stamford Meetup

Stamford, H7

Stamford Meetup
The club is a great way to meet people, make new friends and experience different activities. Maybe you are new to the area or perhaps one day you decide that you should be doing more with your leisure time. Well this is the perfect opportunity. We are fortunate that we have a number of excellent event hosts who voluntarily give up their free time to research and host events for our members to enjoy. We do ask that all of our members keep their RSVPs up to date. It only takes afew seconds to change an RSVP. No shows and very late cancellations cause hosts particular difficulties with managing events and may even dicourage them from hosting which would be a great shame. **MORE DETAILS ON THE GROUP** We are extremely fortunate to be based in Stamford, the "finest stone town in England" with its 600 listed buildings, five medieval churches and a vibrant social scene.  **IS THIS A SINGLES CLUB?** Stamford Meetup is **not** a singles club or dating group. We do ask that all of our members behave respectfully to everyone that they meet in the group as we do not want anyone to be made to feel uncomfortable at any of our events. The purpose of the group is for people to make friends and anyone who uses the website to send messages to strangers will be referred to the conduct group.     **CODE OF CONDUCT/BEHAVIOUR** We expect everybody to treat others with respect. We will refer any complaints to the conduct group for  investigation. **PHOTOGRAPH REQUIREMENT** To join/remain in the group you must have a recent photograph that clearly shows your face. A passport style picture would be ideal. This is very important because it helps us spot you at your first events and also increases the trust and security within the group.  **NAME REQUIREMENT** To join you must use your real name rather than a username. **Have Fun** John (Group Organiser)

In Touch Peterborough

Peterborough, C3

In Touch Peterborough
We are a social and activities based group for Peterborough and the surrounding area. We are the oldest established group in the area with one of the most active memberships. 'Diversity' is my aim for In Touch in both activities and membership as I think this creates a more stimulating group. I try to maintain this by controlling entry to the group. Our diverse range of regular monthly events include: New members night, Coffee mornings, Badminton, Games afternoons, Ten-Pin Bowling, Cycle Rides, Leisure & social walks, Meals out (World Cuisine, Chinese, Curry Night, Fine Dining), Live Music Events, Pub quizzes, Pub Meetups, Cinema Nights, Rounders and Comedy nights.  As the group has grown we are now creating a range of our own unique events including 'Geo Cache Trail' and 'The Aliens have Landed'. We have also organised the bigger more difficult events other groups don't. Our extensive list of bigger events include: Theatre trips, Rounders, Archery, Quad Biking, White Water Rafting, Scalextrics Racing, Theme Park Visits, Escape Rooms, Hovercraft Driving, Shooting events (Clay Pigeon & Pistols/Riffles), It's-A-Knockout, 5K Inflatable Challenge and Karting. Previously we have arranged Day trips, Weekend breaks and holidays and are always looking for new things to try. **ORANISATIONAL SETUP** This group is an organiser based group with experienced event planners taking the lead in organising events. We have sound financial control and a group kitty as a limited insurance for our events. This hopefully gives people more confidence with our events and a more professional feel to the group. **GROUP HISTORY** The group was founded in Jan-2012 by Janet Wilkinson. Lotte Kolind ran the group from Nov-2012 until July-2013. Jonathan Rippon has run the group since June-2013. **COST** In Touch is completely free to members. From August 2024 I now take a small contribution from some paid events to help towards the meetup subscription fee which is currently £340 per year. You may also make a purely voluntary donation to the group if you wish. **CODE OF CONDUCT / BEHAVIOUR** I expect everybody to treat others with respect. I will remove any member showing inappropriate or antisocial behaviour. The group is also private, which means non-members cannot see who is a member. **AGE RANGE** Anyone over the age of 18 can apply to join. I try to maintain a diverse age range within the group. We currently have people in their late 20's through to people in their 50's. We have events to suits younger people as well as older people. We have host's in their 30's, 40's & 50's. **CULTURAL DIVERSITY** The group welcomes everybody on an equal basis and enjoys the diversity of having many people in the group who are not native to Peterborough / England. We have people from Portugal, Poland, India, China, Peru, Spain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and America within the group. **MARITAL STATUS** THIS IS NOT A SINGLES OR DATING GROUP. This group's prime aim is to organise fun activities for people to enjoy and to enable people to socialise together. Most of our members tend to be single but we also have many couples within the group too. My main aim is to create a community of people who support each other! **JOINING THE GROUP** Anybody who complies with the above can apply to join the group but be aware that I do limit entry to try to maintain the diversity of the group. This can mean that you are held on the pending list for a period of time, depending on who else is applying to join at that time. **ATTENDANCE** We recommend that you try to come along within the first 6 weeks of joining. If you are nervous for whatever reason, contact me or another one of our event hosts and we'll help you take that first step. Be aware that I actively manage our members list and do remove inactive members. This is to keep our membership count real. You will be able to apply re-join. **PREREQUISITES** We do require all members to have a portrait style photo of themselves for identification purposes. If you submit a photo or picture of anything/anyone else but yourself, your request to join will be declined. This is important for the hosts as they need to know who is coming to the events. It also increases the trust and security within the group. **CONTRIBUTING TO THE GROUP** We have a dedicated group of organisers within In Touch but are always looking to encourage new organisers/hosts to join the leadership team. If you've been in the group for 5 months or more and would like to organise or host an event then please contact me. I'll help you plan your first few events to build your confidence. The involvement of members helps the group continue to grow and offer a large range of events to suit all. Looking forward to meeting you all. Our friendly group meets in person on Tuesday evenings (except for the 2nd Tuesday of the month). We meet from 7-9pm in the upper room of The Quaker/Friends Meeting House, 21 Thorpe Road, Peterborough, PE3 6AB. **Please note that the doors close at 7pm for security reasons. We are a welcoming group of people, drawn together by our wish to explore Buddhism and meditate together. You do not need to consider yourself a Buddhist to join us - we are made up of people from all sorts of different cultures and backgrounds, and the group is relevant to anyone looking for personal growth and meaning. You do not need to have any experience of meditation to come along. Learning meditation is a life-long experience, so we all have to start somewhere! The evening is always structured so that new people will be given the support they need to join in. Our classes run on donations and we suggest £7 although you are free to donate whatever you want. However we’d rather you come along even if you aren’t able to make a donation. Options to donate; ·         Giving directly to the group (‘Triratna Peterborough’) via their Natwest account: sort code 55-50-42, account number 63151499 or ·         cash on the evenings we meet There is a Peterborough Team made up of the Order Member (OM) and mitras (friends of Triratna) who meet approximately monthly to discuss the finances of the group, safeguarding, planning group activities such as who is leading the evenings, organising of events etc. If you have any ideas or concerns that you’d like to share with the team or the safeguarding representative then just ask whoever is leading that evening and they will point you in the right direction.

Thriving After Divorce and Break Up

Peterborough, C3

Thriving After Divorce and Break Up
Welcome message: Hello and welcome to Thriving After Divorce or Relationship Breakup! Thank you so much for joining this community. I'm excited to have you on board as we embark on a journey together. Please bear with me as I am new to Meetup and trying to learn how it works. I will be putting on more activities and sessions in the next few weeks. **Please note that this is not a dating group, so please do not try to chat with other members or me up. There are enough dating Apps around. While I can't stop members from meeting each other, please refrain from seeking people out on the event chat. If you want to talk to someone, connect after an event; if they wish to connect with you, they will. Any such messages will be removed, and repeaters will be removed from the group.** My goal here is to create a supportive space where we can all rediscover ourselves after navigating significant life changes. Feel free to reach out to me via the direct chat within the App if you have any questions about the group. If you're joining us for the first time, please give me a heads-up beforehand so I can keep an eye out for you. I'm all about spreading positivity and empowering each other to face life's challenges with renewed confidence and courage. Let's support one another with regular tips and reminders to make positivity a habit in our lives. That said, there are a few housekeeping notes I would like to share with you: 1. Keep an eye out for upcoming events over the next few weeks and months on the group calendar. We have everything from casual online meet-and-greets every other week to more structured sessions on specific topics. Remember to RSVP for events, as some require a £10 deposit to secure your spot. The deposit can be transferred to another event if you are unable to attend the event for which you reserved a slot. The deposit can only be rolled over twice, after which you will forfeit it. 2. Eventually, this group will be a subscription-based group. Your first two events will be on the house, and after that, it's just £15 a year to cover group expenses via PayPal or bank transfer. The membership fee covers the website charges and some of my expenses and allows me to run the group. It also helps keep the group exclusive. After three months, if you have not paid for your membership, I will remind you, and if you choose not to pay, you will no longer be able to participate. Please note that the subscription is not a prepayment for any particular event. 3. Some events, such as theatre attendance and day visits, will need to be paid upfront so I can buy the tickets, and we can all sit together as a group. 4. For weekends away and holidays, deposits are necessary to confirm bookings, with the balance payable in instalments. If your plans change, I'll do my best to fill your spot and refund you accordingly, with fewer non-refundable deposits or admin charges. 5. The group is not a therapy group, an encounter group, a group for or against exes, women, men, or family, a religious or political group, or a group for anything other than trying to enjoy ourselves and build a new community with people with similar experiences. If any relationship results, I hold no responsibility and will not be held liable for any impact (positive or negative). Lastly, please keep in mind that I juggle running this group with a full-time job and parenting, so I might not always respond immediately. Reserve phone calls for urgent matters; otherwise, I'm just an email away. I hope you're as excited as I am about this journey ahead! Looking forward to meeting you soon. Warm regards, Dr Amina C.

North Northants Variety Group 40 Plus (VG40+)

Corby, J1

North Northants Variety Group 40 Plus (VG40+)
**𝙋𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙚'𝙨 𝙖 𝙡𝙖𝙧𝙜𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙜𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥 - 𝙬𝙚 𝙗𝙚𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙫𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙞𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙖𝙪𝙩𝙞𝙛𝙪𝙡.** The Variety Group’s catchment area is centred around the towns of **Corby, Desborough, Kettering, Market Harborough, Rothwell, Thrapston, Uppingham** and surrounding villages for those **over 40 years old**, though these aren’t set in stone. The aim is to enable people with similar interests come together and have fun in the process. This is because there’s plenty of people out there that wouldn’t even contemplate or have the confidence to participate in some of these activities on their own. **You'll soon be made welcome**. We hope to give you the chance to join in and build new friendships, though we must emphasise that this **isn’t** a dating site. It doesn’t matter what your background is or what your job you do, it’s the people that count. Likewise we’re not here to be competitive as we want you to enjoy our events and come back again. For this group to work effectively and be beneficial for all, we need everyone to make an effort and join in and have some fun. All we ask in return from you is to be honest, respectful and be yourself, pay a nominal yearly fee and if you would display a facial photograph of yourself, so members can recognise each other. Please only RSVP for an event if you truly wish to take part. **We want this to be an interactive group.** If you’ve not attended a meet up for over three months, we’ll terminate your membership as clearly we’re not what you’re looking for. We're not looking for people who just keep joining countless groups, it's pointless! Similarly if you can't come to an event that you've RSVP'd please notify us as soon as possible as **three no shows will also terminate your membership**. Likewise any lurkers, harassment or unsavoury behaviour will not be tolerated either.

Lincolnshire Free Meditation & Yoga

Grantham, H7

Lincolnshire Free Meditation & Yoga

Hello there!

We'd like to welcome you to our FREE Sahaja Yoga meditation meetings

We are all volunteers of a Charity organisation and have many years of experience in offering free Sahaja Yoga Meditation classes.

With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we generally sit on chairs to achieve Yoga effortlessly & spontaneously. There is no need for exercises (Asanas) or breathing techniques (Pranayama). No special clothing or mat required, just come as you are.

All across the globe, many are seeking new sources of energy. Meanwhile, the most transformative energy of all is hiding in plain sight, within us. It's natural, sustainable, and infinitely renewable. It's called inner kundalini energy. And everyone already has it — everyone!. It is often likened to an inner feminine or motherly energy which automatically knows about us and what is needed to help us restore balance and harmony within our subtle being. It works spontaneously, effortlessly, organically and cannot be paid for.

The classes are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is quite effortless and spontaneous.

The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga, and they are available across London most evenings and throughout the UK.

The idea is that you don't do yoga - you Achieve Yoga!

Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a simple, time-honored technique. It helps those who enjoy it, reduce stress and increase wellness and health holistically. It brings better focus and helps people become more centered and better balanced. Anyone can do it.

Founded by Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi, Sahaja Yoga Meditation is a world wide movement for peace and self awakening.

All the meetings and classes are free of any charge. Each week we go through simple meditation techniques, often with guided meditations to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation.

We share tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body.

The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future.

Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural state of being.

10 Reasons to try-out Sahaja Yoga Meditation in Grantham in 2014

It’s easy. You don’t have to spend years living in the mountains to achieve enlightenment. You don’t have to give up anything or spend weeks in silence. You don’t have to learn mantras or wear special clothes or even try to clear my mind. The meditation simply happens spontaneously. The classes are easy and fun, and as long as you keep up your daily ten minutes of meditation you find you are able to achieve a deep and peaceful meditation on a regular basis.

It’s free. You don’t pay for your meditation. There are no catches, and there are no hidden expenses. If you missed attending classes one week, it doesn’t matter. You just picked up the classes again when you could manage it. It is simply the generosity of spirit of other Sahaja Yoga meditation practitioners that allows Sahaja Yoga to be taught to whomever desires it, at no cost.

You can see results. You feel relaxed and you feel a deep sense of calm. Now you can also feel your chakras (energy centres) and through the meditation techniques learnt along the way you can understand the vibrations of your own energy centres. If you feel unwell you meditate and use the techniques you’ve learnt to heal your chakras, and you can then feel the centres clearing, and as a consequence your health improves.

It’s all-inclusive. All the major religions and their core teachings are acknowledged and respected in Sahaja Yoga. No one’s spiritual journey is right or wrong. And through meditation the wisdom of all the great gurus and saints is easily revealed and understood. In fact, you’ll find that since you’ve been meditating you’ll come to understand and appreciate the teachings of great teachers such as Lao Tse, Buddha and Mohammed.

You’re your own boss. You meditate and introspect at your own pace. You don’t have to keep up with others, or feel pressured into doing things you’re not comfortable with. You are your own teacher, your own guru, your own master. This technique of meditation empowers you and enables you to help yourself. You don’t have to rely on anybody else. Of course, there are many people who practice Sahaja Yoga Meditation who can teach you a great deal about the yoga & meditation and its various techniques. However, all that you need is ultimately within you.

It’s everywhere. Sahaja Yoga is practiced in almost every country in the world. So, no matter where you travel you can always locate a local Sahaja Yoga Meditation programme that you can attend. Whenever you get the chance, and no matter where you are, You try to link up with other Sahaja Yoga practitioners and enjoy a collective meditation. (Meditating with others is a much deeper and more powerful experience than meditating alone.)

It’s portable. You don’t need to take anything with you to meditate: no mats, no potions, no special clothing or books. You can meditate anywhere – in a quiet room or on a noisy bus; at the beach or watching a movie. Thoughtless awareness (the state of meditation) is easy to achieve if you keep meditating daily, and it can be achieved in almost any situation.

It makes sense. Everything you’ll learn will make sense. There is a lot of common sense in Sahaja Yogameditation, and even though not everything was known to you (for example, the chakras and their respective qualities), once you have a chance to learn more about the meditation, it feels very natural and comfortable.

Everybody does it. When you begin a hobby or join a new group, you often find that there are particular types of people who are in the group with you. For example, some groups attract younger people, others older folk; some groups have a lot of people who are wealthy, or people who live in a certain part of town. In Sahaja Yoga you will find people from every walk of life, from every demographic – male and female, young and old, rich and poor, every shape, size and colour, with varying interests, languages and beliefs. You don’t have to be a certain type of person to do Sahaja Yoga meditation. It is one of those rarities: something for everybody.

You feel good. Without fail, every time you sit down to meditate you feel better. Whether you manage to have a deep meditation or not makes no difference, and as a consequence your family and friends are reaping the benefits.

So there you have it......ten reasons......
