Teesside Ladies Social Group

Stockton-on-Tees, D8

Teesside Ladies Social Group
This is an over 35's ladies only group for anybody looking to make new friends and have more of a social life. Activities include nights out, theatre, cinema, meals, weekends away and day trips. Members will be given Event Organiser status which enables them to post and host events. Members are expected to contribute to the group by both attending AND hosting events. This can be as simple as meeting somewhere for coffee or a walk on the beach. If you need any help posting or organising an event, please DM me. **Group Rules and conditions of membership.** The annual Membership fee is £8.00. The fee is due after attending your first meetup, or by the end of the first full month from registration, whichever comes first. Eg if you joined January 10th, payment is due March 1st. **Please note that if the fee is not paid when due, you will be removed from the site without further notice.** Payment should be made direct to me via your personal PayPal account as a \*friend and family\* payment - lizbarber@hotmail.co.uk I can accept payment by bank transfer on request. If you have added your name to attend an event, please ensure that where possible you DO attend. If you are not sure that you definitely can or definitely want to attend an event, please don't add your name until you are certain. **If you are unable to attend an event due to unforeseen circumstances, it is NOT sufficient to only comment in the event chat to this effect. You must also move yourself to 'not going'** so people know not to expect you. Failure to do so will be classed as a 'no show'. Three no shows in a year will result in removal from the group without further notice. **Event Hosts are reminded to flag any NO SHOWS so this can be monitored.** The group can only thrive if its members are actively engaged within it. Members who have not attended an event in the past 12 months, and are not signed up for any future event within the next six months will be removed from the group without further notice. Any unused membership period for which fees have been paid will not be refunded in these circumstances. This will ensure that the members we have are *active* participants in the group. PLEASE NOTE this will of course NOT apply where there are personal circumstances and events that prevent a member attending events as they would like to, which we can all relate to. Liz Barber

Free Meditation and Yoga Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough, J7

Free Meditation and Yoga Middlesbrough
New Class beginning - Mondays @ 7:30pm fortnightly from Monday August 5th 2024. With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. No Mats or special clothing required. This community group was started in Middlesbrough to invite all those who might be interested in learning to meditate and for those who actually want to achieve Yoga. Many are curious as to what meditation or yoga actually is and what's it all about?  The meetings aim to provide that insight and know how.   The charity offers free bespoke classes that are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is quite effortless and spontaneous.   The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga, and they are available across London most evenings and throughout the UK.   Sahaja Yoga free meditation classes help attendees to achieve a deep state of peace and spiritual awareness in life. Try Sahaja Yoga meditation classes and see for yourself the improvement to your mental, physical and emotional state. Learn and experience…- Simple meditation techniques.   Guided meditations to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation. Tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home. The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body.   The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future.   Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural state of being.

Darlington and Bishop Auckland Social Meetup 40+

Spennymoor, D8

Darlington and Bishop Auckland Social Meetup 40+
We host a variety of regular events e.g.meals, drinks, walks, cinema and theatre trips, days out and craft activities - all events are hosted by members who volunteer to support the running of the group. Anyone can be a host so if you have an idea for an event , let us know. The group is non- profit making and is run by a voluntary leadership group whose role is to oversee the group run successfully. Group members come from different backgrounds & bring individual differences, so kindness & mutual respect are things we value highly. We ask that everyone treats everyone else with kindness and respect and that any form of bullying, disrespect or offence to others is something we won't tolerate. Membership fees - are £5.00 per year and renew each July. Membership fees are non refundable. Keeping the group active - the group's purpose is for people to get out and about and make new friends. To do this, we need people to be active members and to attend events. Managing the finances- event hosts will decide if they want to collect deposits fir events and to collect these. It is also up to their discretion as to whether deposits are refundable. This information should be made clear in the event details. In terms of the membership fees, we need to collect enough to cover the running costs of the platform. The organisers and event hosts do not make any financial gain from the group. Restricting numbers at events - this is at the discretion of the host. We know it can be frustrating when you can't get on events so we ask you keep a regular check for events and use the waitlist option as places do become available. Cancelling off events and no shows- we understand that at times you won't be able to make events you had planned to attend. In these circumstances please let your host know that you can't make it or if you have pre-booked a meal and need to cancel late then call the restaurant and cancel your place yourself rather than rely on the host to do it. Don't forget to remove your name as attending as there may be people on the waitlist. Bringing guests- here we need to consider other members and the impact on them. If event numbers are restricted, it may mean members can't get onto events. Guests are therefore welcome on all our walks or events that are not number restricted but for all other events, we have decided that guests will not be able to attend. Dealing with issues- talking to people is the way we will deal with any concerns or issues, just as you would with friends outside the group. If you ever feel uncomfortable in the group , please do reach out and talk to one of the leadership team who will seek to support you in getting things resolved. If we are aware of any behaviour within the group that is causing upset for anyone else, we will act as needed and do reserve the right to end the membership. However, this will only be done after a resolution cannot be reached. Making decisions- the leadership team will meet regularly and any decisions relating to the group will be made jointly by them. Keeping everyone safe- health & safety and data privacy settings direct from Meetup.

Bishop Auckland Social Seekers (Something for Everyone)

Evenwood, D8

Bishop Auckland Social Seekers (Something for Everyone)
Welcome to The Bishop Auckland Social Seekers (Something for Everyone) group. So first of all we are coming close to the end of our first 6 months as a group and what a 6 months this has been!! When we set up our group, we never imagined how successful it would be, even to the point where we thought that we would never get to 25 members let alone the 62 we have today and are grateful to each and every one of you for your continued support. As we are now looking at the next 6 months, we just wanted to go over a couple of things that we as organisers have encountered and that we feel would improve the experience for all 😊 We would ask that all members regularly check the site not only for new events, but to check on events that they are already booked on. Especially when booking tickets for popular events, we may require payment in advance and quite quickly once tickets are released for sale. We do not have contact details for all members and therefore our only means of communicating details to members is through the meet up site. It's also important to check in case timings/meet up points etc have changed, and saves disappointment for all involved in the event. Meals are pre-booked for events well in advance and although it can be frustrating to not be able to get onto some events, it isn't acceptable to turn up to events on the day, especially if there is a waitlist. We have chosen to restrict numbers to 10 on these events as it is manageable for us as organisers, and some of the venues are small and cosy, and could cause embarrassment for the host and the venue if they cannot fit extra on the night. However, 10 is what we as organisers have personally chosen to implement but other hosts are welcome to manage their events ad they see fit 😊 We know that life happens and are not overly concerned with people who have to drop off events last minute. It would be helpful if you could message the host of the event prior to dropping off an event though, as this means we can monitor and confirm places with venues. There are occasions, however, that monies for deposits have to be taken prior, venue dependant, and can be non-refundable. As much advance notice as possible for non-attendance would be gratefully appreciated in these cases to allow places to be opened up to other members. If an event is fully booked, please do put your name on the waitlist as places do become available and we can then add you on. We have recently had an instance where a member has been removed from the group due to inappropriate behaviour. We would just like to gently remind everyone that offensive and inappropriate behaviour towards organisers or other members, will not be tolerated by the group. We wanted to set up this group for people to come along, meet new people, experience new things and hope to develop friendships and have a good time along the way. We aim to showcase the different types of restaurants and cuisines in our local area and possibly find new places which none of us have been or it has been a long time. Book and Cinema clubs are both popular and whilst the book club was started by a previous member it still carries on and we have all read different genres that what we would, it gives a new perception to what there is out there. In a similar vein we started the cinema club to enable people to join together to enjoy seeing films that they may not have have looked at before and also someone to go to the cinema with. As we now enter our second 6 months we feel that there are many more activities that could be of interest to our members and welcome and are open to any suggestions from you to help get more out of the group. Please feel free to step forward and host any events that you may find locally, just let us know what you'd like to do and we will put on for you. Once again, many thanks for your continued support and we look forward to another fantastic 6 months with many more shared experiences and a life well lived 😁

North York Moors & Coast Walking Group

Lealholm, J7

North York Moors & Coast Walking Group
Who are we? This is a group for people who want to get out and about in the beautiful Yorkshire countryside. Generally, our walks will vary between summer evening walks of 4 - 6 miles and year-round full day walks of 8 -15 miles. To participate in our walks you will need to be reasonably fit. On many events, you may bring a guest. You are responsible for your guests and therefore need to ensure that they are capable of safely joining the activity. It is not the responsibility of the activity host or leader to assess the fitness, capability or preparedness of you or your guests to participate in an activity. Event hosts do not owe a legal duty of care to members and their guests. You and your guests should be aware that Event Hosts are not trained guides, leaders or first aiders. Event Hosts exist to facilitate a Meetup event. The Event Host is not in charge of the event and has no personal responsibility or liability for anyone attending the event. For this reason, neither the Group nor Event Hosts carry liability or any other kind of insurance. You and your guests participate in events entirely at your own risk. You should tailor your expectations accordingly. It is your responsibility to make your guest(s) aware of their responsibilities. It is your responsibility to make your guest(s) aware of the above. By participating in an event, you are indicating that both you and your guest(s) accept these conditions and accept also that no liability attaches to the Group, organisers or event hosts in the event that you or your guests sustain injury, however caused. Walks may be subject to prior reconnaissance, but not always. Try to take evidence of occasional navigational frailty in your stride. As mentioned above, day walks will vary in length between 8 and 15 miles; evening walks between 4 and 6 miles. Hopefully there will be something for everyone. You will notice that our evening walks are concentrated in the coastal and north eastern corner of the moors. For those of you living on the southern or western fringes of the area, I appreciate that it might be too far to traipse for a relatively short evening walk. However, most if not all of the evening routes will be incorporated into our day walks as the year progresses. It might be necessary to limit numbers on some events. Hopefully, this will occur only rarely as we seek to be a truly inclusive group. Unless you are known to the Organiser, your profile must include a photo of you. We want to be able to recognise you so that hopefully you won't get left behind at the start of an event. You will be charged £2 on the day for every Meetup event that you attend. This will be used to meet the subscription fees levied by Meetup and to contribute towards the cost of checking the route of walks. If we find that this is too much, we will lower the price. Conversely, if we are unable to meet the expenses of our Group from the subscriptions collected, we will ask for more. The Group does not exist for the purpose of making a profit. No one will be expected to contribute more than £24 to participate in our walks in the 2023 calendar year. Participation in our Group requires expenditure by the individual, whether meeting your responsibility to ensure that you are kitted out with equipment appropriate to the activity you are engaged in and in getting yourself to the location of the activity. It is the responsibility of attendees to ensure that they are appropriately equipped to participate in an event. Walking boots and outerwear appropriate to the conditions are essential, together with food, drink, first aid kit and protection from sun, rain and cold. It is not the duty of the Organiser to assess your capability for a particular walk. However, if in the opinion of the Organiser, you are clearly unfit or ill-equipped to participate in an event then you may be asked to refrain from joining. Ours is a small group. It always will be. Membership is limited to 50. It relies on regular participation by its members and the close fellowship that results. Initially there will be no charge if you withdraw from an event at any time up to the published start time. We acknowledge that circumstances change, often at short notice, requiring participants to change their plans. However, we ask that you give as much notice as possible and alter your status to 'Not Going', so that the viability of the event can be assessed. If you are on the waiting list for an event, you could be promoted to the 'Going' list at short notice, perhaps on the eve of an event. Remove yourself from the waiting list if you cannot handle such a change of circumstances. In common with other groups, we will monitor members' attendance record, reliability in terms of last-minute changes to RSVP and interest in the Group (demonstrated by visits to the Group's website). Failure to join a walk in any period of 3 months or failing to visit the group’s site for a period of 2 months will signify that we have nothing to offer that is of interest to you. Your membership will be terminated to create a place for someone else. You will be free to apply to re-join at any time. That's the end of the formal stuff. Let's get on and enjoy ourselves, keep healthy and meet new friends whilst exploring the gift of the Yorkshire countryside that has been granted us.
