20s to 40s Midlands Walking Group

Cannock, M9

20s to 40s Midlands Walking Group
Welcome to the Midlands walking group. Are you passionate about the great outdoors, hiking through picturesque landscapes, and connecting with fellow nature lovers? If so, you've come to the right place! Our community is dedicated to fostering connections among individuals who share a deep appreciation for adventure and exploration. While hiking is at the core of our activities, we also offer an array of other exciting adventures and are always open to your suggestions. We're not an exclusive club, and our leaders are not certified mountain guides; we're simply a group of like-minded individuals coming together to embrace the wonders of nature. Our typical hikes span around 10 miles, so it's essential to arrive well-prepared with suitable footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, and enough provisions for the day ahead. Our walks are categorized based on their level of challenge: 1. Easy: These leisurely-paced walks are perfect for newcomers to hill walking. While they're not overly strenuous, you should still be fit enough to cover the distance within the allocated time. Plus, most of these hikes conclude with a well-deserved stop at a local pub! 2. Moderate: If you're physically fit and can maintain a consistent, moderate pace for around 5 hours, you'll enjoy our moderate-level hikes. Expect some tricky or steep sections, muddy slopes, and the like. This category encompasses the majority of our adventures. 3. Challenging: For those in excellent shape, our challenging hikes involve steady pacing for up to 16 miles, steep climbs, and fewer breaks. You may even encounter some thrilling scrambles and mild peril along the way. 4. Experienced Only: These hikes are designed for seasoned mountaineers who relish a formidable challenge. They're not recommended for first-timers, and participants must be in peak physical condition. Please bear in mind that when you join one of our walks or activities, you assume full responsibility for your actions and participate at your own risk. The routes we plan are typically not pre-walked, so patience with our organizers is appreciated if footpaths aren't precisely where they should be! Our adventure destinations are typically within a 90-minute drive from Birmingham, with occasional trips that venture further afield or even entire weekends away. Don't drive? Some of our hikes are accessible by public transport, and we'll make sure to mention this when applicable. However, due to the remote nature of some of our destinations, we can't always guarantee convenient transportation. If you're interested in joining a walk but lack transportation, feel free to post on the event page to see if any fellow participants from your area are willing to offer a lift in exchange for a fuel contribution. Please note that we reserve the right to remove individuals from the group if they repeatedly fail to show up for events without giving at least 6 hours' notice on 3 separate occasions. We value commitment and a sense of community in our group, and this policy helps ensure a positive experience for all.

Free Meditation & Yoga Newcastle-under-Lyme

Newcastle, M9

Free Meditation & Yoga Newcastle-under-Lyme
Join us on Wednesdays 7:00pm - 8:30pm - at the Wheelhouse, 41 high street, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 1QZ.  PARKING:  Midway car park for £1 in the evenings, less than 2 mins walk to Wheelhouse.  Alternatively, you can find free car parking spaces at ''Wilson street, Newcastle under Lyme, ST5 2BZ'' ... 4 mins walk to Wheelhouse. Achieve Yoga & enter into a state of ‘thoughtless awareness’. This community group was started in Nantwich/Crewe & Stoke - Newcastle under Lyme to invite all those who might be interested in learning to meditate and for those who actually want to achieve Yoga. Many are curious as to what meditation or yoga actually is and what's it all about?  The meetings aim to provide that insight and know how. With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we normally sit on chairs to achieve yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. So there is no need for mats and no special clothing required. The charity offers free bespoke classes that are designed to help those attending get into a genuine meditative state, which can be felt tangibly. It is quite effortless and spontaneous.  The free classes feature introductory talks, video's, practical workshops and general question and answer opportunities, making them perfect for seekers trying to establish a state of yoga, and they are available across London most evenings and throughout the UK.  Sahaja Yoga free meditation classes help attendees to achieve a deep state of peace and spiritual awareness in life. Try Sahaja Yoga meditation classes and see for yourself the improvement to your mental, physical and emotional state.  Learn and experience… \- Simple meditation techniques\. Guided meditations to help reduce stress and achieve the peace of true meditation\. Tips on how to help stay in balance during the day and how to meditate at home\.  The meditation is based on connecting with the inner chakras (energy centres) and balancing the subtle body. The tradition and aims of meditation are explained which in essence is to be in the present with no mental activity or thoughts about the past or the future.  Occasionally there are 1 day retreats to help those interested, deepen their individual experience and hear advice and tips from those who have been practicing for some time. It’s ultimately all about getting into ‘thoughtless awareness’, a natural state of being.

Walsall, 43

Walsall Over 55’s Friendship and Social Group
This Walsall group is based mainly in the Walsall North and many of the events will be in and around this area, with the occasional events going into Wolverhampton, Wednesfield, Cannock. Please do not feel offended if your request to join is not be approved if you belong to an excessive amount of groups or you live outside the 5 - 10 miles distance from your location to the North of Walsall or your application does not have an up to date photograph. This group is aimed at single people, divorced, widows but (sorry no couples) who are 55 years young or over. But please note this is not a dating group and is open to all genders. So if you enjoy meeting, socialising and making new friends, attending a variety of events which includes meals out, theatre outings, day trips, coach holidays, cinema, live music and much more then this is the group for you. The group is friendly and welcoming and there is a need to be mutually respectfully to all members, if the ethos of the group is breached then the member will be removed immediately. The group needs to expand its horizons and interest and actively encourages every member to take an active part and any member is able to put an event on. To try and keep the group to active members, there is a subscription fee of £5.00 every six months, which goes towards the administration costs incurred in running the group. Payments will need to be paid by bank transfer and details will be sent when an application to join is made. Please note that the group has many request to join. So, a regular review is made so that any member who has not attended an event in 3 months will be removed. Member of the group is expected to attend at least one event within 4 weeks of joining and please note there is no refund on the membership fee. If you RSVP to an event you are attending, then later you find you are unable to attend. Please change the RSVP as it helps the organisers to manage the event more effectively. It also means that if someone who is on the waiting list can now attend. It is a must that all members need to add an up to date photograph to their profile. A membership will be rejected if there is no photograph. This make it easier for an organiser to identify new members when the attend an event.

Sutton & Lichfield Friends

Sutton Coldfield, 43

Sutton & Lichfield Friends
**If you have been removed from the group because you haven't paid the £2 renewal fee, and you still want to be a member, you will need to re-join and pay the joining fee.** A big, warm welcome from Sutton & Lichfield Friends. Whether you are looking to enjoy a new aspect to your social life, widening your existing social circle, or maybe meeting new friends, then we are definitely for you. We offer a wide range of events where, rest assured, you will be with like minded people. If you are maybe a little hesitant, then just hold onto the thought that we were all new to this once! Our group encompasses people from all walks of life, regardless of any individual's background or circumstances and we are always ready to welcome new members to come and participate in any of the events we offer. As with other Meetup groups, we do have a few guidelines outlining what we expect from our members. * A full face photograph is required in order for us to be able to accept you. This is to enable hosts to recognise you when you attend events. * Our annual membership fee is £3, payable within 10 days of being accepted to the group. Failure to pay within this time will result in your request being rejected. (Applicants that are members of excessive Meetup groups will also be rejected, because we like to keep the group to active members.) * Please check your diaries to make sure you are free and able to attend before adding yourself to an event. It could be that as a result of repeated failure to attend events with little or no notification, you may be removed from the group. * To avoid the above happening, we simply ask that you keep an eye on your RSVPs and make sure you are up-to-date. People on the waitlist will be interested in taking your place so it is important that all responses are current, this takes a matter of seconds to do. * We ask that should you find you are unable to keep your place then you remove yourself from the event at the earliest opportunity and let the host know, thus allowing the next person on the waitlist the chance to take your place. * If you opt to participate in an event that requires a payment direct to the host, these may include events such as meals and parties, etc., please make sure your payment is sent as soon as possible and in accordance with the requirements of the individual event. * In order to participate in 'paid' events you will need to be able to receive private messages from the event organiser to allow bank details to be forwarded to you, and the facility to be able to pay by bank transfer. * As event hosts are required to pay individual venues for allocated places in 'paid events' then any monies you pay are unfortunately non refundable. If you sign up to such an event and find that you are unable to attend, then where there is a person on the waitlist they will be given the opportunity to take your place and therefore a refund could be arranged. If there are no takers for the place, then unfortunately your payment is forfeit. While we already host a wide variety of events we always welcome other suggestions and will encourage and support anyone who is willing to host or to help host events.  If this interests you, contact one of the organisers or event hosts.  Likewise if you have any suggestions or comments about how to do things better we’d like to hear about it. Our full protocol is available on request. Caroline and Erica
