Be Active Be Social

Wrexham, Z4

Be Active Be Social

My happiest moments in life are when I’m doing ‘stuff’ with like minded people, not taking life seriously and having fun. But sometimes it’s tricky to find the people to do ‘stuff’ with when you’re available and so it can be tough to motivate yourself to be active and social. So, this group aims to bring like minded people together to do stuff with in Wrexham and the surrounding area.

Although I started this group, I want it to belong to the community. Therefore, other people may organise ‘stuff’ and invite you to come along.

I am a spontaneous ‘planner’ so anything I add is likely to be last minute. I’ll also add notes and updates so please check Meetup regularly if you don’t want to miss my activity.

Id like this group to have good friendship etiquette so please be punctual, keep us updated, or cancel if you are unable to attend activities.

Note: There are no charges. However, the fees to use this platform need to be covered so contributions towards costs maybe requested prior to each gathering. Any surplus will always be donated to local charities.

We also have a Facebook group https://www.facebook.com/groups/391347518436598/

This is an informal group, a group of like minded people using a platform to organize get togethers. It is not a formal group (e.g. there are no leaders, no experts, no insurance or anyone to compliment or complain to!). You must take responsibility for researching an activity, deciding if it’s appropriate for you and being responsible for ensuring you’re adequately prepared so you can look after your own health and safety. Hosts/organizers cannot be held liable as they are individuals inviting you to an activity they have planned as a friend. Finally, usual caution with respect to using any social media platform should be used. Thanks!

Denbighshire and Flintshire Meet-up

Denbigh, X9

Denbighshire and Flintshire Meet-up
Are you looking to meet new people, expand your social circle and discover new places and interests? If so, we're the group for you! We are a friendly bunch and you are assured of a warm welcome. If you join us (and we hope you do) please ensure your profile picture is of you and not something else. We would like to be able to recognise you when you attend your first event.   \ Our activities will be primarily in Denbighshire, Flintshire and surrounding areas and will include dining out, walking, cinema and theatre, art and culture and many more. We welcome suggestions from all members to add to our events calendar. \ A small membership fee of £5 is payable when you join and is renewed annually on 1 July. This is to cover the Meetup site charges and any incidental expenses. Terms and Conditions 1\. Any person\, 18 years or older\, any gender and any background are welcome to join and participate in group activities\.  **2\. There is an annual fee of £5 payable within a week of joining and is renewable annually on 1st July\. Please pay via PayPal to denbighshiremeetup@gmail\.com\. Please ensure you mark your payment as Friends and Family otherwise we will be charged a fee\. The payment will show as being paid to Kim Elliott on PayPal \(Kim is one of our Co\-organisers\)\. If a member joins part way through the year the full amount of £5 will be payable\, within reason\. Please ensure that your profile picture is a photograph of you and not something else\. We would like to be able to recognise you**   \ 3. We have a zero-tolerance policy towards members who misbehave or abuse others in any form, whether physically or verbally and they will be removed from the group immediately. \ 4. We consider safety to be our number one priority and while we never take unnecessary risks, we do recognise that activities may result in personal injury. Remember that you should be aware of and accept these risks as you are solely responsible for your own safety and you should not undertake anything beyond your abilities. It is also your responsibility to be correctly equipped for the weather and activity you have chosen to participate in. \ 5. Some activities such as restaurant bookings require deposits to be paid. If any member has paid a deposit and either fails to partake or cancels less than one week prior to the date of the event their deposit will not be returned.\ 6. If a member responds as coming to an event and then finds that they are unable to attend their response must be changed to not coming. It is very frustrating for organisers to be waiting around for someone who does not arrive. Not adhering to this rule may result in expulsion from the group. 7. Plus-ones are for people who are visiting you from out of the area or for a friend who would like to accompany a member for their first event. In the latter case, if that friend would like to attend future events, he/she will need to join the group and pay a membership fee.

REIGNITE: Find Your Spark - Physical & Mental Wellness

Little Neston, C5

REIGNITE: Find Your Spark - Physical & Mental Wellness
**REIGNITE**: A relaxed group aimed at finding that spark through simple activities like talking, walking, and more to improve mental and physical wellness. It's all about everyday people supporting each other in a down-to-earth way. So if you've any event ideas or want to host events, just reach out. **Who's it aimed at?** Anyone is welcome as this group aims to be an informal but supportive space for adults seeking to improve mental and physical wellness. So whether it's the pressures of work, home or life in general, let's come together to share what's on our mind, lend an ear to someone, or simply walk quietly in the company of others, surrounded by nature. **How did it come about?** As I sat at a cafĂ©, during Mental Health Awareness week, I wondered how many of the people who pass have bottled a burden or are wearing a mask. We all deal with life’s toughest challenges—death, divorce, detachment, dissonance. Sometimes, it feels like life throws them all at us, and we lose our spark. Many of us hide behind that mask, pretending 'we’ve got this.' But we haven't. We bottle it up. Ignore it. Do what's expected, and show up for others, until we can't anymore. I also wondered what the secret is to achieving a quiet mind, harmony, peace, true happiness or that spark. I thought there’s got to be a way, right? People achieve it. So how do I find my spark? For me, simply being with others, being outside in nature helps, but talking helps even more, so I created REIGNITE, in the hope it will help someone else too. **REIGNITE Fees** It's free to join, but if you find the group beneficial and wish to help with the site fees, then you can do so here [GoFund-REIGNITE](https://gofund.me/36afd724) **Support a charity** REIGNITE is a Campaign Against Living Miserably CALM Club, for more information visit them here [thecalmzone](https://www.thecalmzone.net/) If you wish to donate to this cause, you can do so here [REIGNITE-JustGiving-CALM](https://www.justgiving.com/page/mal-collum-reignite-calm) **REIGNITE Group Disclaimer** By participating in any REIGNITE event, you agree to the following terms: 1\. Personal Responsibility: Participation in REIGNITE activities\, including walking\, wellness sessions\, or discussions\, is entirely voluntary\. You are responsible for your own well\-being and any decisions made based on information shared during the sessions\. 2\. Physical Activity: Please ensure that you are fit to participate in any physical activities\. If you have any health conditions\, it is your responsibility to consult a healthcare provider before joining\. REIGNITE and its organisers are not liable for any injuries\, health issues\, or accidents that may occur\. 3\. Wellness Information: The advice\, tips\, and insights provided during REIGNITE sessions are for informational purposes only\. They do not replace professional medical\, psychological\, or therapeutic advice\. If in doubt\, always consult a qualified professional\. 4\. No Guarantees: While REIGNITE aims to promote mental and physical wellness\, results and experiences may vary\. We do not guarantee any specific outcomes or improvements\. 5\. Liability Waiver: By attending any REIGNITE event\, you agree to release the organisers\, specialists\, and any associated parties from any liability for injury\, loss\, or damage that may arise during or after the event\.

EAT, PRAY, LIVE (Christian Social Networking)

Wirral, 28

EAT, PRAY, LIVE (Christian Social Networking)

Welcome to the social group for Christians on the Wirral, Liverpool and surrounding areas.

Eat, Pray, Live is a inter-church social group aimed at bringing together local people of all backgrounds, ages and denominations

What makes us different?

We are an inclusive group. So, whether you’re in a couple, single, separated, divorced, widowed or simply looking to widen your social circles, this group is for you.

From our own experience we know there is a bit of a gap locally for Christians who, for whatever reason, are on their own and would like to get out and socialise with like-minded people.

We also have some more "mature" members who are not registered online but will be joining us on some events!  You will also have the option to bring guests to any event by simply "adding a guest" when you RSVP.

Eat, Pray, Live is about you. What do we mean by this? Our group is set up so the organiser will arrange some of the events, however, we are also looking for our members to suggest or set up events themselves.

What do we do?

Lots!

We put together a varied calendar of events, both secular and faith-based, such as outdoor activities, wining and dining, charity events, seminars and anything else the group can think of. We also aim to arrange a mix of low cost and free events where possible.

We know it can be daunting joining a new group, but we’ll always ensure a warm and friendly welcome in a relaxed environment.

Plus, we always remember that our faith doesn’t limit us when it comes to getting out and making the most of life!

What does membership involve?

There’s no pressure to attend events. We are home to a wide range of personalities, tastes and interests. So the choice is yours: simply join in as many or as few events as you want.

So get creative in your suggestions – the sky’s the limit!

Widows and Widowers of Cheshire (and beyond!)

Chester, Y1

Widows and Widowers of Cheshire (and beyond!)

This is a social group which will appeal to single widows and widowers, or anyone who has lost their long term partner through bereavement, to enjoy being together with people who know how they feel and where they are coming from.  It is NOT a dating site nor is it a bereavement support group as such but a social group where we can 'fit in' instead of being the odd one out which many of us sometimes feel.  I want our group to be a very safe place for everybody in the group, a place where people can come and be respected and cared about and where people can let their guard down and just be whoever it is they are learning to be post loss. It will be for members only and run by members. Our core age is 50-75 but this is just a guide, we do have members outside that age bracket both above and below but most of our activities are targeted at that age range!

Lots to look forward to - walks, meals out, bowling, theatre and cinema visits, Christmas events, I am excited just thinking about it! . The annual fee is ÂŁ5 payable within six months of joining. And if you have any further questions don't hesitate to hit the 'Contact' button under my photo and get in touch! Look forward to meeting you!

(This group is a Chester based group - our core events such as coffee mornings/pub evenings etc take place in Chester, if we go to the cinema it is one local to here and we often walk in N.Wales.  Our policy has always been that if you would like to come to us, even from a distance, we are happy to have you but we do prefer our membership to be made up of actively involved members and this may be more difficult for some if you live away.  Just worth bearing in mind!!)

Heart and Soul Community Singers, Chester

Chester, Y1

Heart and Soul Community Singers, Chester
Heart & Soul Community Singers have been meeting for many years but found a new name during the pandemic. We sing simple but beautiful songs about the heart and soul of human experience; joy and sadness, hope and grief and everything in between. We co-create community with each other through singing together and generally leave sessions feeling nourished, uplifted and connected. We enjoy heartening the community around us by singing in public spaces and hold a mixture of indoor and outdoor sessions. We are always open to new members; no experience needed, there are no auditions and no expectation to sign up for any specified length of time. We aim to be accessible to anyone who wants to sing with others; there is no music to read; all songs are taught by ear at a gentle pace and newer and less confident singers have the support of those more experienced. We run several sessions throughout the week, some themed. All members are welcome to attend as many or as few sessions as they can/wish to. Monday, Thursday and Sunday sessions cover a wide range of songs from various cultures and traditions. Monthly Saturdays we Sing for the Earth or drop into Sacred Song. Fridays is Taize chants in Chester Cathedral. There are payment options for pay per session or a monthly subscription and we are happy to negotiate reductions for those on low incomes. We are led by Ella Speirs, an experienced Natural Voice Practitioner and group facilitator, who is supported by many members who help in big and small ways to ensure things run smoothly. If this appeals you are very welcome to come along anytime and try your first session for free. NB We have been singing throughout the pandemic and have developed good covid safe practices which we respectfully ask all singers to follow.
