Things To Do!

Cardiff, X5

Things To Do!
Hi and welcome to 'Things To Do!' This group is for activities around Cardiff and the surrounding area, with walks, coffee's, regular meals priced to meet all pockets, special events and the odd sporting event thrown in too. Come along and meet new and old friends in a relaxed pleasant atmosphere. Attendance numbers for meals can be increased if there is a waitlist, and if the establishment can fit the request for extra places. **When joining the group, there is a membership fee of £4.00p for 6 months, or 12 months for the bargain price of £7.50p** 😉 Most dining events will require a £5 deposit to confirm your place, this charge will either be deducted from your bill at the end of the meal or returned to you in cash at the meal. The deposits will not be refunded if you fail to turn up, or your attendance is cancelled within 24hrs of the event, members on waitlists must be allowed time to book onto events, this is less likely if people book off on the day or day before. If you find you are unable to attend, then the deposit will be paid back to you, if someone on the waitlist for that event takes your place. This is also dependent on the restaurant requiring a deposit to confirm the booking. This group is for ages 30 to infinity. Inactive members will be removed after 6 months of joining the group, if this includes yourself, you will be most welcome to rejoin. **Membership & Deposit fees can be paid to:** **Andrew L Davis** **Lloyds Bank** **Acc no: 45589368** **SC: 30-96-91** **or** **Via PayPal @** **anderstdb@aol.com** Please mark the PayPal payment as **"Friends and Family'** to avoid transaction charges and please pay within 7 days, or you will be removed. This is a non-profit group, membership fees are used to pay the costs charged by Meetup, any additional monies that are received go back into the running of the group, booking events & occasional treats at events. Please use a picture of your self on your profile, this is for identification at events and members safety. If you are an experienced host, and would like to join the team and expand the events to offer, please contact me privately. 😊

Cardiff Walking & Outdoors Group

Cardiff, Z3

Cardiff Walking & Outdoors Group
A big warm welcome to Cardiff  Walking and Outdoor Group. Walking/hiking is good for your health both physically and mentally and this group is for people who like getting out and about at the weekend and some evenings in order to optimise that health benefit and of course to make new friends and socialise. We organise a variety of different walks and hikes which include coastal walks, city walks and mountain hikes. Please take a read below of our Group Etiquette and Group Disclaimer:-   **GROUP ETIQUETTE** \~  Please bear in mind the the group and events are free to attend and are run on a totally voluntary basis by the hosts/organisers. \~  We are a fully inclusive group and everybody is welcome to join. \~  When signing up to an event please read the event description carefully as it may enclose important instructions regarding the level of the event and what you may need to wear and bring with you. \~  Dogs are very welcome on most of the events but please always check just in case as some may not be suitable - although this is rare. Please ensure that your dog is under your control at all times. \~  Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend an event. It saves us from hanging around waiting for people that aren’t coming. \~  When you arrive at the event please check in personally with the host/organiser so that there is no confusion as to whether you have attended or not. \~ If for any reason (although we'd rather you didn't) you need to leave an event before it's finished please let the host/organiser know personally. Please don't leave and then message them as they may not have a signal. \~   We will generally aim to set off 10 minutes from the start time.  If you are going to be late please let us know ASAP but bear in mind we may not have a signal as some events are in rural areas and we may not get your message. \~  Please note that not everyone wants their photo taken so please ask politely before taking photos of other members at any point of an event.  If a photo is uploaded with you in it and you wish to have it removed please message Rhiannon or Andrea directly. \~  If you have any health issues that could affect you on the event please inform the host/organiser as soon as possible in order that we can ascertain if the event is suitable for you. \~  Abusive and rude behaviour will not be tolerated towards the host/organisers or any members of the group and may result in your removal from the group. \~  Quite often on the events lift shares are arranged.  Please be mindful that group members are not vetted in anyway so you are responsible for your own checks should you wish to obtain a lift with someone. \~  If you have any questions about an event or anything in general please feel free to message either Rhi or Andrea directly. \~  If you are unable to find an event on a day that suits you please join the wonderful Calum at Cardiff Local Walks.   We look forward to seeing you on a walk soon.   Rhiannon and Andrea   **DISCLAIMER**   Everyone taking part in the Group events does so at their own risk and you are responsible for your own safety at all times.   We do not employ qualified guides, leaders or first aiders on any of our events. The group works on the same basis of being a group of friends who go out walking together, who invite others to join them on this basis.   When attending an event there maybe risks with the terrain, cattle and other hazards and obstructions that we are not accountable for.   Event organisers and event hosts assume no responsibility for anyone attending any group event. The Group, group organisers, event organisers and event hosts will not be held responsible for any accident, injury or loss occurring as a result of any Group event or in connection with travel to such event, however caused.   When you join an event you indicate that you accept these conditions and accept that no legal liability is accepted by the group, group organisers, event organisers or event hosts in the event of accident or injury, however caused.   Participants in Group events are reminded that outdoor activities frequently need specialist equipment (boots, waterproofs, etc) and the group does not provide these. Participants are responsible for assessing their own risk, the safety of themselves and their guests and the suitability of any equipment used. While accepting no responsibility or liability, for walks and other outdoor events, the event host or walk leader may, at their discretion, not admit you to join the walk or other event if in their opinion you are ill-equipped for the terrain and weather conditions. To reiterate that on signing up to any event organised by Cardiff Walking and Outdoor Group you are agreeing to all of the above.

The Walking Social Club

Cardiff, X5

The Walking Social Club
Welcome to The Walking Social Club! A walking group with occasional events and activities, for adventure lovers who want to explore parts of Cardiff and its surrounding areas on foot. For nature, city, and park walks, shorter routes are generally on weekday evenings and longer on Sunday afternoons. Social events & activities are varied and sporadic! ✌️ We welcome new, friendly faces. We've all been newbies - I was nervous at my first event, too. ⚠️ Be prepared! Please check the weather forecast and wear sensible and appropriate walking gear. Routes and paths are often uneven, steep, wet, and muddy! 🐕 Dogs are very welcome on our walks (the more the merrier!) but must be kept on a lead in areas that require it. You must be fine walking with dogs, as I'll have my friendly pups with me at every walk. 🥪 Bring some water if you want and some snacks if you get hangry. 🕒 Please update your RSVP if you can no longer attend. It saves us from hanging around. We will set off 10 minutes after the event start time. End times are always estimated. 📷 Not everyone wants their photo taken; politely ask before taking pictures of other members at any point during a walk. Please message me if you want a photo of yourself removed. 🗺️ Please try to remain with the walking group during the walk. Spreading out will naturally occur, but if you are ahead and have separated from the group, please wait at the next plateau or fork in the path. ⭐ Consider leaving us a review, currently only viewable by the group, they will soon be public and help the group grow. 🌎 Feel free to suggest a walk you'd like to take; we love exploring new areas. ℹ️ Let me know if you have any questions about the route, additional requirements, or health issues you feel I should be aware of. 🏞️ If you're looking for more local rambles, join the lovely bunch at Cardiff Walking & Outdoors group. 💎 MeetUp Membership is $8 (approx £6) per year and includes a 30-day free trial before they are due. You are most welcome to attend any event during this time for free, save for any specific event requiring activity fees. [Pay Membership](https://www.meetup.com/dues/thewalkingsocialclub/checkout) Alternatively, join us at our [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/groups/thewalkingsocialclub) group and events, for free. Catch you at the next one, Calum, Molly & Zola. 😁🐾🐾 -DISCLAIMER - Everyone participating in any 'The Walking Social Club' event does so at their own risk. You are always responsible for your safety. The group is not a registered organisation, community interest, or business, has no employees, and can not be responsible for you. The group does not employ or provide qualified guides, leaders, or first aiders at any event. When attending any event, risks may be associated with high terrain, cattle, obstacles, and other hazards for which the group is not accountable. No host or leader assumes responsibility for anyone attending any group event and is not responsible or legally liable for any accident, injury, or loss resulting from any event or in connection with travel to an event. Outdoor activities require practical and appropriate equipment (boots, clothing, and waterproofs). You may wish to take out suitable insurance to cover you for any activity at an event. While accepting no responsibility or liability for any events organised, the event host or walk leader may, at their discretion, refuse to admit you to the walk or event.

South Wales hikes.....

Cardiff, X5

South Wales hikes.....

Offering group walks throughout South Wales and beyond. Many of the walks will be in mountain and upland terrain, but there will also be river walks and the occasional coastal path or two. The aim of the walks is to get you out walking in a group, so you feel confident and safe to be in the hills. I also like to throw in some challenging walks and lots of off-path terrain, for those who want to push their fitness.

The ethos behind this group is being mindful in the mountains. I love this environment and want to look after it. This means only small group sizes to limit our impact on the environment, a leave no trace policy and I'll probably share with you lots of factoids on the landscape as we go.

The walks will be low cost and cover the expense and time of running a Meetup site, memberships to OS maps and other resources, such as training. I don't make a profit - any proceeds go back into the site.

For your reassurance: I have completed many hiking challenges and walked, scrambled and climbed various mountains throughout Britain and the world for the last 20 years. I regularly attend mountaineering training courses to keep my skills fresh, and I'm an active member of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) and the Mountain Training Association, who train and set standards for mountain professionals in the UK. I've twice completed their Mountain Leader training since 2017. I'm also a qualified outdoor first aider.

I look forward to walking with you all.

Greater Social Life Union of Cardiff

Cardiff, X5

Greater Social Life Union of Cardiff

The Thumoslang Network is an association of groups whose members use Thumoslang, the nomenclature for social clarity, as their basic strategy for greater social life. Part of the network is the Greater Social Life Union (GSLU). Its mission is long-lasting joy for its members through faster actualization of their personal ideals.

There are many steps on your journey to greater social life. Here are the first steps for members of GSLU. After reading the rest of this introduction, you should read the 2021 book The Guide to Thumoslang. Many of our members put this new knowledge into practice as suggested by The GSLU Handbook.

When you spend more time in damage control mode and less time benefiting from your various relations, you waste a great deal of effort in your social life. Such a cost of opportunity keeps you from going at high speed towards your ideals, in creating your ideal self, and in actualizing what you truly want to become. This is likely due to a lack of social clarity, which is essential for internal conversations and vital for meaningful relationships.

Unintentionally created in 2017, accidentally discovered in 2018, and first taught in 2019, Thumoslang is the nomenclature for social clarity. It is used as a language for faster communication, be it in complex collaboration or difficult conversation. The first widespread use of social clarity has been predicted by Thumoslang pioneers to be just as important as the first widespread control of fire. All is explained by The Guide to Thumoslang, which is backed by The Dictionary of Thumoslang.

Again, the Thumoslang Network is an association of groups whose members use Thumoslang, the nomenclature for social clarity, as their basic strategy for greater social life. Part of the network is the Greater Social Life Union (GSLU). Its mission is long-lasting joy for its members through faster actualization of their personal ideals.

Your ideals are the same as your ideal self, which means what you truly want to become. "Everything else is secondary," said Steve Jobs. Our group activities involve you with the first practical steps in the further development of your ideals, in keeping others from interfering with your life, and in building a group of in-person friends who keep on encouraging you and nurturing your ideals. To be sure, if you lack social clarity in your internal conversations, face unwanted drama too often, are not sure of your social life or your path into the future, or have no friends and no groups available on a regular basis to help create your ideal self, this group is for you.

*** MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS ***

Our group activities bring you the following benefits:

Benefit 1 - Mastery of Relationships

As new GSLU members participate in the union's activities, they will quickly find themselves having noticeable enhancements in their social lives. The further they participate in GSLU activities, the faster they naturally acquire the mastery of relationships.

Benefit 2 - Best Friends for Your Ideals

Our group activities include practical steps in building a group of in-person friends who keep on encouraging you and nurturing your ideals.

Benefit 3 - Internal Dialogues More Effective

Thumoslang is a set of terminology whose use is intended to benefit one's clarity in social situations. Consequently, Thumoslang allows you to have clearer communication with yourself in your mind.

Benefit 4 - Meaningful Relationships Much Stronger

Our members use Thumoslang to mend or strengthen their existing relationships, build new relations, and achieve greater social life.

Benefit 5 - Faster Actualization of Your Ideals

The actualization of your ideals goes faster when it regularly involves your best group, which is the small group of in-person, second-mind friends who are the best for the nurturing of your ideals. Our activities help you speed up the actualization of your ideals by reducing social roadblocks and increasing social shortcuts in your life.
