Swansea Neath Port Talbot Socialising Group

Overview

Are you new to Swansea and looking for a friendly Meet Up where you feel part of a family?

Are you simply looking to expand your social circle and discover new places? Are you new in town?

Well this Meetup is for you. Once you arrive you'll be introduced to other members, no need to be shy as you'll quickly find your feet or simply have a drink or two.

We have a lot of regulars now and this makes meeting people and being introduced a lot easier.

We should point out that this is a social group and not a dating group, so if this is what you are looking for then another group would be more suitable for you. If people get together in the group that's great but it's not our aim. Friendship is our main goal.

Our membership policy:

From 1st January 2019 an amended membership policy will take effect. New members applying to join the group will be required to pay the annual membership fee prior to their application being approved. The membership fee will remain at £3 per person per annum.

Fees will become due annually on each January 1st. All members will be notified by e-mail a couple of weeks prior. Those who have not paid their membership fee by 1st January will be removed from the group. It is acknowledged that the length of time covered by the initial membership fee for new joiners will differ depending upon when in the calendar year the person joins. However, the membership fee is minimal (less than a penny a day) and so this has been deemed acceptable in order to make the group manageable.

Membership will be for running costs of the group, deposits for events, and any costs that are incurred in arranging our meetups. Ultimately our aim is to give money back to members at events such as the Christmas party/BBQ's etc. We are not a profit making group.

Organisers reserve the right to refuse a membership or remove any member whose behaviour or actions are detrimental to the wellbeing of the group.

Some events require deposits and where necessary will be stated on the event page. The deposits are only refundable providing the venue allows a cancellation at no cost to the group or transferrable to another person. Please ensure you have checked your diary before you RSVP to avoid any unnecessary loss.

It is a requirement that all members must have a current profile photo, this helps us to recognise New Members. Without a photo you will be removed from the site, unless we have spoken and a reasonble explanation given and permission has been granted by the Organiser.

RSVPs

We do expect our members to update their RSVP's as soon as possible if they are unable to attend an event, to help organizers and other members who may wish to attend, and like many other similar meetup groups, we will operate a "No Show" policy that will result in removal from the group. So for any future events you're signed up for, 3 no shows will result in you being removed from the group. It saves the people who do attend from having to wait to see if you're going to turn up before ordering food, hanging around the foyer in cinemas, theatres, etc and the hosts embarrasment of sitting on a table too large for the group. It's just courtesy to the event hosts.

Please do NOT just show up to an event. It is a requirement that you enter an RSVP - YES if you intend going to an event. This applies to the regular Tues meet up at the NO SIGN Wine bar - Swansea as well as ALL other events.

Also if a member brings a guest along- the same guest - to an event more than twice then it's a requirement that, that guest applies for membership to the group.

Swansea Socialising aims to organise a range of events from the fairly ordinary (perhaps just dining out or walking with friends) to the quirky and adventurous. We are open to all suggestions for things to do- local events, meals out, outdoor activities, walking, pub meals, live music, cinema etc.

Please let one of the organisers know and we will see what we can do.

As this group is a not for profit group there is no insurance provided, therefore when you agree to join this group, you do so with the agreement that any activities that you participate in you will do so at your own risk. The organisers are unable to accept liability for any losses or injuries incurred.

Please note: You must be 18+ years old to become a member

On our sessions,Kayaks are provided along with all required kit too. The kayaks we use are the sit on top type... very stable, easy to use and confidence inspiring.

We run regular kayaking sessions at Cardiff Bay, which is an ideal and safe environment for total beginners to this sport. Then there are more regular and challenging locations for those slightly more skilled or those looking for more of a challenge or an adrenaline rush, such as kayaking down faster rivers, along the coast exploring sea caves etc ... or even White Water Rafting.

Two of our favorite events... Coasteering & Canyoning or Gorge Walking.

Come coasteering to experience our coastline at close-quarters. Pioneered in Wales, it is a blend of rock-hopping, shore-scrambling, swell-riding, cave-exploring and cliff-jumping for the ultimate aquatic adventure. Yet en route you’ll discover wildlife and beautiful scenery too.
The best way of describing our activity is a river adventure . With our guides, you travel through a steep sided gorge following the course of the river by various ways and means. This can involve:-

Sliding down rapids, Swimming down rapids, Floating down fast flowing chutes, Climbing waterfall &Jumping off ledges into deep pools
Looking forward to exploring the outdoors with everybody.

Hi and welcome. Welsh Mountain Walks is a professional business for people who want to get out and about walking in Wales and beyond. You will meet friendly people, whilst having fun and safe experiences. The aim of Welsh Mountain Walks is to to assist you in aquiring the skills and experience to become a confident hill and mountain walker and I do this in a relaxed and friendly manner. WMWalks offers professionally led walks, events and courses to all levels of abilities. These are led by Ben, a professional, fully insured and very experienced Summer and Winter Mountain Leader. All of the walks, events and courses are for smaller group sizes. As a professional mountain leader and active member of the MLTA, which is the Mountain Leader Training Association, Ben adheres to safe ratios, (max 1:12) with regard to leader to clients. You can be assured you will never be walking in a group larger than it is safe for a professional, insured leader to manage. The cost of the walks is in line with what you would expect to pay for a professional mountain leader. If you are new to hillwalking and feel a bit nervous about attending a Meet Up please don't. I am a friendly guy who will do my best to make you feel welcome and confident out on the hills. If you have any questions just ask. The walks have different grades which are Gentle, Moderate and Challenging. Gentle walks are up to 8km in length and a maximum of 400m ascent/descent. Moderate walks are 8- 13 kms in length and up to 700m in ascent/descent and Challenging walks are over 13kms in length and/or over 700m ascent and descent.
