Bay Area Anything Active

Bay Area Anything Active

Bay Area Anything Active is a Meetup group focused on anything that makes you move! Hiking, bicycling, camping, backpacking, running, kayaking, swimming, surfing, rock climbing, bouldering, bungee jumping, mountaineering, sports—if it can be done with a group, it can be done with BAAA!

Participation
For some events, you may be advised and expected to have a certain level of physical ability and stamina to participate in the activity. There are inherent risks with any active sport or activity. By participating in Bay Area Anything Active events, you agree that you are solely responsible for your own safety at all times. You are solely responsible for preparing for events you attend and having the skill sets required for any activity.

Attendance Policy
Please RSVP to events only if you plan on attending. Be sure to update your RSVP if your attendance plans change, and avoid last-minute changes whenever possible.

3 Strikes for No Shows: Members who RSVP yes and do not show up to 3 events may be subject to removal and/or banning from the group.

Dog/Pet Policy
With the exception of service animals which are always welcome, dogs are permitted at events only if expressly permitted by the event host. For the safety and comfort of members, dogs should be leashed at all times.

Child Policy
There are no special accommodations made for kids (i.e., they need to keep up... although a lot of times we are the ones who need to keep up with them :) It is your responsibility to read the event description and decide whether the activity is suitable for your kids.

RSVP Limit for Some Events
RSVP limits are at the discretion of the event organizer.  Big groups can be hard to manage and at times not all that fun for organizers and attendees alike.  Please respect the RSVP limit and understand that organizers are volunteers - events have to be fun for us or else we have no reason to keep doing this.

Gender/Age Preference for Some Events
Some events may be tailored to a specific gender/age range (e.g., a women-only backpacking trip or a 20's and 30's hike). This makes it easier for members to meet fellow adventurers who share similar interests. BAAA was founded with members of a 20- and 30-somethings hiking group in the East Bay, but we have since expanded to become a comprehensive activities group.

Fee-Based Events
Most events are free of charge, and our preference is to keep them that way. Meetup events with fees are allowed only when the fee is justified (to cover reservations, gear rental, etc.).  Event hosts are not compensated for their time organizing and leading events; they are 100% volunteers.

No Soliciting
Please do not promote your business/ product/ service/ fundraiser or fee-based event of any kind to group members or organizers. This restriction includes yoga classes, climbing workshops, salsa lessons, run/walk fundraisers, product/app launches, etc. Anything and everything that is promotional is not appropriate for this group.  We encourage all members to suggest and host events, but if you keep suggesting promotional events or discussions you will be banned from the group.  The group does not accept sponsorships and does not promote any products, services, or causes. There is absolutely NO marketing to members—no exceptions. Organizers will not answer soliciting messages.

Questions?
If you have questions about an upcoming event, please contact the event's host/organizer.  If you have general questions about BAAA, please contact Alina. Thank you!

Bay Area FUN Travel & Activities Group

Berkeley, CA

Bay Area FUN Travel & Activities Group
This group is for travelers who don’t want to wait on their friends to finally say “yes” to travel. Life is too short and the world is too big! The trips in this group are usually 90% solo travelers but everyone is welcome, female/male, solo/couple/friends, straight/LGBTQIA+! So let’s travel together with fun, like-minded travelers! If you have an open mind and are kind to fellow travelers, you will fit in perfectly on these trips! **The local events in the group are member-driven** so if you’d like to host a Meetup in your area (i.e. a brunch, happy hour, travel talk, dinner, hike, concert, coffee, etc), feel free to let me know and I'll help you get it set up in the group! **NOTE:** The people on these trips are from all over the States but you’ll always be connected with people from the same city on a trip so you can meet up face to face and get to know your future travel buddies prior to the trip. You’ll also be connected to the whole group via email prior to the trip so you can virtually get to know those that are from different areas. On average, the people on each trip are 90% solo travelers but it’s hard to predict the exact demographic for each trip so please keep this in mind. Feel free to join the Facebook group to connect with past travelers on these trips, see pictures, ask questions, funny travel memes, travel-related articles, etc: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/613025845523107](https://www.facebook.com/groups/613025845523107) The trips in this group are put on by a tour company called Globe Drifters and they focus on small group trips geared towards solo travelers with the mission of giving new meaning to travel by putting the human experience at the heart of their trips. The groups are small, usually with 12 people maximum per trip and about 90% of everyone on each trip are solo travelers so you’re not stuck being the odd man out on trips with mostly couples. You’ll have the best of both worlds, solo travel with the security of a small group of other solo travelers for some company on your adventure! To contact Globe Drifters directly, you can email [info@globe-drifters.com](mailto:info@globe-drifters.com).

So build up your friendships with good conversations along with good food and drink, and have fun with other compatible people. Not only are members grateful for having you host events, they also see you as generous person who give time and effort to others.** **This meet up is for people 50+ and over.** **GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THIS MEETUP GROUP** **Organizing events for this Meetup is highly encouraged for any member. After hosting ted 3,000 + events, organizing activities help build community. When you host evens, you experience and understand the other side of the process of trying to get people together It also gives you the vision of what your event is about.** **Guidelines The RSVP And Attendance Process :** * **Every member begins with a 100% attendance in our Meetup Groups. If you are a no show, you will be docked 10% every time you do not attend. For instance, if you sign up for an events, and don't take yourself off the list within 48 hours of realizing you cannot attend, you will get a 10% doc, and as a result you'll be at 90%. If you do not take yourself off the waiting list withing 48 hours you will be docked 5%, and as a result you'll be at 95%. The only way you are able to build your RSVP rating up, is to sign up, and attend your next event. In the example above, someone who has a 90% rating that signed up for an event will be given 5% and if you attend 2 more events you will be given 10% so you would be back to a 100% RSVP rating.** **Members need to give 48 hour notice to who cancel last minute.** **Why?** **Because it is disappointing that other attendees who are looking forward to meeting you see that you canceled last minute.** **If you sign up for an event, but you notice or realize that you cannot attend, taking yourself off of the event within 72 hours, or 3 days is imperative if there is a waiting list especially if your host is reserving a seat for you in a restaurant.** **It is also important so other people have the opportunity to see that the event is now available which give them enough time to rsvp and attend.** **The following will be the RSVP rating for every member. This will be attached to your profile, and will be updated** **If you have not attended any of my events, don't expect your profile to reflect a ratiing, I'm only going to update profiles for people that RSVP attend or don't attend. Again please keep in mind that you are given 2 months to attend as soon as you given the opportunity to become a member. We want an active group.** **The new guidelines bring Meetup members' attendance record to the forefront, and let everyone know on a real-time basis, how likely, someone that signs up, will actually show up** **This system has self-accountability, and social pressures, all within the mix. If you're attendance record comes down to 50% or you do not attend within the 2 months you said you were goiong to come. I have to assume that you just don't care, and more likely be removed from my meetup.** **Important to keep in mind the following:** * **There $5 annual membership collected on the first event you go to.You are given 2 months to attend.** * **Consideration and empathy is a must for this group so please keep comments on the nice side of life.** * **Harassment towards other Meetup members will not be tolerated. Specific altercations will be assessed on a case to case basis. Through this process, if it's determined that you were acting intentionally mean towards another meetup member, you will be removed from the group.** * **No soliciting in this Meetup group or you will be removed.** **Other rules for members to follow are those that one would expect due to common sense and common courtesy. These include:** **\-\- Kindness and common courtesy\.** **--Bring positivity, friendliness, respect, and humor to our events. Who wants to listen to someone’s negativity and pessimism. We are all in this together.** **\-\- We prefer not to impose waitlists unless there are real space limitations\.** **Building community is a wonderful journey. Your organizer is here to support you in coming out of your comfort zone and taking the initiative of being involved and enhancing your life.** **Taking time to socialize from your busy life is a challenge but new experiences can only increase not only your sense of well being, but your life. So build up your friendships with good conversations along with good food and drink, and have fun with other compatible people. Not only are members grateful for having you host events, they also see you as generous person who give time and effort to others.** **Examples of future events include happy hours, dinners, live music, potlucks, dinner and a movie, theater, outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, cycling, and golfing. Other outdoor veues include picnics, tours, art and wine festival, and coffee and conversation. This depends on how many members volunteer to host.. Ideas are definitely welcome ..almost always suggested by group members.** **Those that want to host. Please let us know what events you would like to do asap.** **Your percentage of attending events on this meet up will be attached to your profile and will be updated by organizer and event hosts.** **Keep in mind that, there is a $5 annual fee due when you attend for the first time so please pledge the $5 by paying and making the donation or pay cash on your first event.**

Concord Widows & Widowers

Concord, CA

Concord Widows & Widowers

Hello:

Concord Widows and Widowers is a friendly place for widows and widowers to get together and socialize. We have three or four activities a month where we meet and socialize. We are not about grief counselling but we all have a shared life experience of losing our spouse. We are also not about dating but leave the decision up to you. Members are required to be widowed (as defined in our policy document posted under the Pages Tab).

The mumbo jumbo

When you joined Meetup you agreed to the Meetup Terms of Service which can be found here: http://www.meetup.com/terms.

We don’t allow organizers of similar groups to belong to our group. Being a member of a similar group is fine.

We charge $6 dues per year to help defray costs.

We limit membership to those that live within roughly 20 miles of Concord CA because our group is based on activities done together in person.

If you are over 55, you may also like our “sister group” called “55 Alive”. The link to that group is: http://www.meetup.com/Concord_55-Alive/
