Outdoor Girlfriends (SGV)

Rosemead, CA

Outdoor Girlfriends (SGV)
Join the OGs (Outdoor Girlfriends), a community of open-and like-minded women who enjoy staying active and exploring the great outdoors. OGs is a place to meet new friends, learn and be inspired among other amazing women! Let's be present, mindful and enjoy the journey, rather than just reaching the destination. This group is for women of all backgrounds, races, colors, creeds, and status. What we'll do: Plenty of easy to moderate hikes, plus lunches, potlucks, museum visits, bike rides, beach days, volleyball, etc. Always open to new ideas! Events will mostly be in the San Gabriel Valley, but also LA & OC areas. ***Before joining, please read a few guidelines below.*** **ATTENDANCE:** Be respectful of the organizer and group. If plans change, please update your RSVP as soon as possible and notify the event organizer as a courtesy. Flaking to an event, especially with a wait-list, or changing your RSVP at the last minute means someone else does not have the opportunity to join. If you are a no-show more than 2 times without at least letting the organizer(s) know, you may be suspended or removed from the group. A lot of work is put into organizing events and we ask for your consideration in return. **HIKES** Hikes will range from easy (<5 miles, <2000’ gain) to moderate (5-10 miles, 2000-3500’ gain), with an occasional strenuous hike (10+ miles, >3500’ gain). Pace will be 2-3 mph (average). There’s time for pictures on the trails, but please be aware of your fitness level and considerate of the time so everyone could have a good experience and complete the hike within the allotted time. **CARPOOLING:** Feel free to reach out to other attendees if you are willing to give a carpool or need a carpool. If you decide to ride with someone, please be kind enough to share with the driver a gallon or two worth for their trouble and gas. **PHOTO:** Please have a clear photo of yourself on your profile so we could identify you. **DISCLAIMER:** The sole role of the organizer is to organize the event. They are not responsible for anyone’s safety or any incident before, during, or after the event. Participants fully understand the risks, dangers, and hazards associated with any outdoor activity, and freely accept and fully assume all such risks, dangers and hazards. Participants also further agree to release and discharge all Organizers of the Outdoor Girlfriends Meetup Group from and against any and all liability arising from you and your guest’s participation in the group activities. **Let’s have fun!**

Chronically Active

Irvine, CA

Chronically Active

Welcome!!

This group is for those who want to remain active with others that understand the challenges of dealing with a chronic condition.
My name is Lupe, I've been living with Sjogren's for 10+ years, most recently I was also diagnosed with Hashimotos. Sjogren's is an autoimmune, that among other things, attacks your moisture producing cells, causing painful inflammation, heat intolerance, dry mouth, dry eyes - dry EVERYTHING!

My main complaint is extreme fatigue and joint pain, mornings are the worse. Waking up feeling like you have the flu, everyday, is NOT fun! But my symptoms get better as the day goes on. Exercising, stretching and walking helps so much!

My husband, Brian and I took a photography class at Orange Coast College attended a school function, at the Huntington Library in Pasadena and it was HOT!

We were at the Japanese Garden and all of a sudden, I got so overheated, I felt like I couldn't breath. I panicked, started crying and like a wounded animal segregated myself, seeking shade and water. I didn't want my classmates to see what I was going through. But most importantly, I was embarrassed of being judged and I didn't want them to be upset at me for slowing them down.

Long story short, my husband Brian noticed I was missing and set out to find me, helped cool me down and got me through the day! No one was the wiser.

However, we know the importance of exercising and being active. But we also understand the challenges one faces when living with a chronic condition.

So, we started this meetup to build community, encourage others to be active and engage with others living with a chronic condition in a supportive manner.

No need to feel embarrassed or fear being judged by others in this group!
Our goal is to;

• Create Community; Hiking, Cycling, Walking, Beach, Photography, Museums, a little bit of everything, etc

• Promote and engage in an active lifestyle despite your diagnosis

• Group physical activities with others diagnosed with a chronic condition

• To get out and move the body and get the blood pumping

Hike and Walk for Friendship, Fun, and Health

Chino Hills, CA

Hike and Walk for Friendship, Fun, and Health
**Everyone ONE is Welcome Here!** Hiking has become a hobby and a passion! I have been hiking around OC, LA, and other areas; however, I wanted to hike near my work and home due to busy and demanding schedule from work and personal life. I thought, hummm, it would be nice to have a hiking group close to my home and work; thus begin my search and found that there are hardly any hiking groups within 10 mile radius around Chino Hills, a beautiful sub-urban city I now reside. Well, thus begin my journey to startup a new meetup for those people who live in and around Chino Hills and Surrounding Areas. I believe hiking is one of the best ways to keep up with your health, meet new friends, and have fun while doing it. What more can you ask for! I am hoping this hiking Meetup will grow to become an oasis for those people like me who love outdoors.... I love it when I can get outdoors and feel the cool breeze on my skin, see the open sky along with beautiful scenery, and meet new people while having enjoyable and meaningful conversations that often bring surprises from many different perspectives. I hope many of you will join and build this Meetup for benefit of all. Bon Voyage for Friendship, Fun, and Healthy Living through Hikes!
