East Bay Professionals Social Circle

Walnut Creek, CA

Who we are:

It’s difficult to meet other people while caught up with our careers, in grad school, or while in job transition.

So instead of staying in, why not go out, meet new people, make new friends, try new things, and see new places?

This group is for professionals (single or not) living and/or working in the East Bay who would like to expand their circle of friends, have a good time socializing, appreciating good conversation, and enjoying the area.

Our goals:

• Establish friendships in a positive and supportive environment.*

• Organize safe and fun events where everyone feels welcome and comfortable.

• Connect with responsible hosts and attendees who show up to events for which they are signed up.

*Anyone found bullying or harassing other members in the online discussion forum or in person at events will be removed from the group.

Our activities:

Activities in this Meetup are mostly concentrated in the East Bay (Alameda, Berkeley, Concord, Dublin, Oakland, Pleasant Hill, Walnut Creek), but also venture into the City.

Our Meetups range from outdoor activities such as hiking, bbqs, sports lessons, and wine tasting to happy hours, dining out, and movies, as well as exploring local festivals, museums, theater, and live music.

If you have additional suggestions as to which types of activities we should schedule, please feel free to post in the Discussions forum.

If you have attended 5 or more events within 3 months, you are eligible to host your suggested event!

PLEASE READ OUR 3 EASY RULES : )

1. RSVP Policy: 3 'No Shows' to an event, and you are OUT! A 'No Show' constitutes as flaking right before the meetup or just not showing up, without informing the host ahead of time.

2. Profile photo and first name required:
We have found that having a face to put with a name makes the group safer.**

**If you do not wish to post your photo, please contact the organizers and we will work with your special circumstances.

3. Donation/Fee:
We may ask for a nominal donation/fee to be a member of this group in the future.

Why do we ask for a nominal donation/fee?

Meetup charges the Organizer $180/year to maintain the group (We do NOT work for Meetup and there is NO profit).

It also takes the Organizer a lot of time to create great events, make reservations, coordinate with business owners, secure venues, and make other accommodations.

Not only are members grateful for having you host events, they also see you as generous person who give time and effort to others.** **This meet up is for people 50+ and over.** **GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THIS MEETUP GROUP** **Organizing events for this Meetup is highly encouraged for any member. After hosting ted 3,000 + events, organizing activities help build community. When you host evens, you experience and understand the other side of the process of trying to get people together It also gives you the vision of what your event is about.** **Guidelines The RSVP And Attendance Process :** * **Every member begins with a 100% attendance in our Meetup Groups. If you are a no show, you will be docked 10% every time you do not attend. For instance, if you sign up for an events, and don't take yourself off the list within 48 hours of realizing you cannot attend, you will get a 10% doc, and as a result you'll be at 90%. If you do not take yourself off the waiting list withing 48 hours you will be docked 5%, and as a result you'll be at 95%. The only way you are able to build your RSVP rating up, is to sign up, and attend your next event. In the example above, someone who has a 90% rating that signed up for an event will be given 5% and if you attend 2 more events you will be given 10% so you would be back to a 100% RSVP rating.** **Members need to give 48 hour notice to who cancel last minute.** **Why?** **Because it is disappointing that other attendees who are looking forward to meeting you see that you canceled last minute.** **If you sign up for an event, but you notice or realize that you cannot attend, taking yourself off of the event within 72 hours, or 3 days is imperative if there is a waiting list especially if your host is reserving a seat for you in a restaurant.** **It is also important so other people have the opportunity to see that the event is now available which give them enough time to rsvp and attend.** **The following will be the RSVP rating for every member. This will be attached to your profile, and will be updated** **If you have not attended any of my events, don't expect your profile to reflect a ratiing, I'm only going to update profiles for people that RSVP attend or don't attend. Again please keep in mind that you are given 2 months to attend as soon as you given the opportunity to become a member. We want an active group.** **The new guidelines bring Meetup members' attendance record to the forefront, and let everyone know on a real-time basis, how likely, someone that signs up, will actually show up** **This system has self-accountability, and social pressures, all within the mix. If you're attendance record comes down to 50% or you do not attend within the 2 months you said you were goiong to come. I have to assume that you just don't care, and more likely be removed from my meetup.** **Important to keep in mind the following:** * **There $5 annual membership collected on the first event you go to.You are given 2 months to attend.** * **Consideration and empathy is a must for this group so please keep comments on the nice side of life.** * **Harassment towards other Meetup members will not be tolerated. Specific altercations will be assessed on a case to case basis. Through this process, if it's determined that you were acting intentionally mean towards another meetup member, you will be removed from the group.** * **No soliciting in this Meetup group or you will be removed.** **Other rules for members to follow are those that one would expect due to common sense and common courtesy. These include:** **\-\- Kindness and common courtesy\.** **--Bring positivity, friendliness, respect, and humor to our events. Who wants to listen to someone’s negativity and pessimism. We are all in this together.** **\-\- We prefer not to impose waitlists unless there are real space limitations\.** **Building community is a wonderful journey. Your organizer is here to support you in coming out of your comfort zone and taking the initiative of being involved and enhancing your life.** **Taking time to socialize from your busy life is a challenge but new experiences can only increase not only your sense of well being, but your life. So build up your friendships with good conversations along with good food and drink, and have fun with other compatible people. Not only are members grateful for having you host events, they also see you as generous person who give time and effort to others.** **Examples of future events include happy hours, dinners, live music, potlucks, dinner and a movie, theater, outdoor activities such as kayaking, hiking, cycling, and golfing. Other outdoor veues include picnics, tours, art and wine festival, and coffee and conversation. This depends on how many members volunteer to host.. Ideas are definitely welcome ..almost always suggested by group members.** **Those that want to host. Please let us know what events you would like to do asap.** **Your percentage of attending events on this meet up will be attached to your profile and will be updated by organizer and event hosts.** **Keep in mind that, there is a $5 annual fee due when you attend for the first time so please pledge the $5 by paying and making the donation or pay cash on your first event.**

Bay Area FUN Travel & Activities Group

Berkeley, CA

Bay Area FUN Travel & Activities Group
This group is for travelers who don’t want to wait on their friends to finally say “yes” to travel. Life is too short and the world is too big! The trips in this group are usually 90% solo travelers but everyone is welcome, female/male, solo/couple/friends, straight/LGBTQIA+! So let’s travel together with fun, like-minded travelers! If you have an open mind and are kind to fellow travelers, you will fit in perfectly on these trips! **The local events in the group are member-driven** so if you’d like to host a Meetup in your area (i.e. a brunch, happy hour, travel talk, dinner, hike, concert, coffee, etc), feel free to let me know and I'll help you get it set up in the group! **NOTE:** The people on these trips are from all over the States but you’ll always be connected with people from the same city on a trip so you can meet up face to face and get to know your future travel buddies prior to the trip. You’ll also be connected to the whole group via email prior to the trip so you can virtually get to know those that are from different areas. On average, the people on each trip are 90% solo travelers but it’s hard to predict the exact demographic for each trip so please keep this in mind. Feel free to join the Facebook group to connect with past travelers on these trips, see pictures, ask questions, funny travel memes, travel-related articles, etc: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/613025845523107](https://www.facebook.com/groups/613025845523107) The trips in this group are put on by a tour company called Globe Drifters and they focus on small group trips geared towards solo travelers with the mission of giving new meaning to travel by putting the human experience at the heart of their trips. The groups are small, usually with 12 people maximum per trip and about 90% of everyone on each trip are solo travelers so you’re not stuck being the odd man out on trips with mostly couples. You’ll have the best of both worlds, solo travel with the security of a small group of other solo travelers for some company on your adventure! To contact Globe Drifters directly, you can email [info@globe-drifters.com](mailto:info@globe-drifters.com).

Walnut Creek - Hiking, Biking, Happy Hour
This is a social, active, and friendly group. We want to get to know you, so it's **REQUIRED** that you provide a picture of your face without glasses or a hat on (please) or we will not be able to approve you. Greetings! Looking for like-minded people who want to participate in a variety of events such as hiking, biking (fun rides), kayaking, fitness/boot camps, wine tasting, picnics/BBQs, live music, dancing, happy hours, movies, bowling, camping, rafting, day trips (SF, Napa, Monterey, etc.), weekend excursions (Tahoe, Vegas Baby!), comedy clubs, sporting events, networking, new friendships and what else? We are very open to suggestions! Don't be shy! Join in on the fun! For all the new members, you will find our group to be inviting, friendly, and full of warm and caring folks. Invite your friends, too! We are a mix of active single AND couples that want to expand/build their network of friendships with people in the East Bay who like to do similar activities.  We're simply trying to gather a bunch of active and kind people, who like to have fun, mingle with others, and try new things. This is a safe space for our members and we have a zero tolerance policy for deviant behavior. We also have an attendance policy, it’s not something we enjoy doing but we need to know headcount when we are setting up at venues. We require 24 hours notice on cancellations. Less than 24 hours notice is considered a no show, 3 no shows is a 30 day time out. Thanks for your understanding.

Marin and Contra Costa County 40+ Socials

Lafayette, CA

Marin and Contra Costa County 40+ Socials
![](https://secure.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/4/f/4/b/600_495080299.jpeg) **About this Meetup: Marin and Contra Costa County 40+ Meetup:** This Meetup group is for members who want to find friendships and build community in  Marin Count  Whether you are local, new, or thinking of moving in this area…ready to meet like minded people...improving your social skills by sharing your time and effort attending and hosting events… This meetup is for you… Hi my name is Jocee. I’d like to share my journey with you…. Organizing events for this Meetup is highly encouraged for any member. In fact to be fair as a member you need to host and event even if no one goes to your meet up. I've noticed through the years of hosting 3,000 + events, that when you host an event, you understand the other side of the process of trying to get people together, with the vision of what your event is about. Since 2006 building community has been beautiful journey for me . I'm here to help support you in coming out of your comfort zone and taking the initiative of being involved and enhancing your life. Within this meetup, we will have small gatherings, too, called Less Is More or call it your mini meetup. I encourage you to do this because I’ve met some incredible people in small groups through the years of organizing. I found that 4 members with an even group is best. Taking time to socialize from your busy life is a challenge but new experiences can only increase not only your sense of well being, but your life. So build up your friendships with good conversations along with good food and drink, and have fun with other compatible people. Not only are members grateful for having you host events, they also see you as generous person who give time and effort to others.  This meet up is for people 40+ and over. Examples of events my organizers and I have done over the years include happy hours, home concerts, dinners, dances, live music, potlucks, movies, theater, outdoor activities (kayaking, hikes, cycling, and others)  picnics, tours, art and wine festival, visiting galleries, spiritual events, Victorian tea parties and coffee and conversations.. And many many more ..Ideas are definitely welcome ..almost always suggested by group members. **GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR THIS MEETUP GROUP** Organizing events for this Meetup is highly encouraged for any member. I've noticed through the years of hosting 3,000 + events, that when you host an event, you understand the other side of the process of trying to get people together, with the vision of what your event is about. I'm there to help, and there are other co-hosts that we can bring on board to help you with your vision as well. Updating The RSVP And Attendance Process : Because some of the members rsvp and then cancel last minute, this disappointing other attendees who were looking forward to meeting you, but that didn’t work out. The new guidelines bring Meetup members' attendance record to the forefront, and let everyone know on a real-time basis, how likely, someone that signs up, will actually show up! Indeed, as a group we want to become a success. Sometimes smaller events have multiple people on the waitlist, because there's only so many slots. If you sign up for an event, but you notice or realize that you cannot attend, taking yourself off of the event within 72 hours, or 3 days is imperative. It's important so other people have the opportunity to see that the event is now available, and that they are wanted to attend. The following will be the RSVP rating for every member. This will be attached to your profile, and will be updated by myself and co-host for various events. If you have not attended any of my events, don't expect your profile to reflect this, I'm only going to update profiles for people that RSVP attend or don't attend. Keep in mind that Meetup offers the ability to automatically email remind someone who has RSVPed YES prior to an event. \- Every member begins with a 100% attendance in our Meetup Groups\. If you are a no show\, you will be docked 10% every time you do not attend\. For instance\, if you sign up for two events in a row\, and don't take yourself off the list within 72 hours of realizing you cannot attend\, you will get a 20% doc\, and as a result you'll be at 80%\. The only way you are able to build your RSVP rating up\, is to sign up\, and attend your next event\. In the example above\, someone that signed up to two additional events\, and attended both of those events\, would be back to a 100% RSVP rating\. I am not here to police people, but I do want everyone who attends an event, to have realistic expectation as to whether another guest, with an RSVP rating of 60% for instance, is likely to show up! This system has self-accountability, and social pressures, all within the mix. If you're attendance record comes down to 20% or 10% for instance, I have to assume that you just don't care, and more likely be removed from my meetup. \- We need to be accounted so please change your rsvp way in advance\, No shows or cancelling within 72 hours\, otherwise\, your RSVP Attendance status will be affected\. \- There is a cost of $5 annualy to attend these Meetup events\. \- Consideration and empathy is a must for this group so please keep comments on the nice side of life\. \- Harassment towards other Meetup members will not be tolerated\. Specific altercations will be assessed on a case to case basis\. Through this process\, if it's determined that you were acting intentionally mean towards another meetup member\, you will be removed from the group\. \- No soliciting in this Meetup group or you will be removed\. \- Also there is a requirement that in order for you to participate in this group\, for participation in this group members be fully vaccinated\. The host needs to check your vaccination cards\. Other rules for members to follow are those that one would expect due to common sense and common courtesy. These include: \-\- Kindness and common courtesy\. --Bring positivity, friendliness, respect, and humor to our events. Who wants to listen to someone’s negativity and pessimism. We are all in this together. \-\- We prefer not to impose waitlists unless there are real space limitations\. \-\- At the present time\, most of our events are outdoors\. **[https://www.meetup.com/MAC-40-plus-Meet-Up/manage/settings/sponsors/add/](https://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Social-35-plus-Meet-Up/manage/settings/sponsors/add/)** Rules **Thanks,** **Jocee** **Founder and Organizer of MAC Social 40+ Meetup**
