Long Beach Alcohol Free Activities and Adventures

Long Beach, CA

Long Beach Alcohol Free Activities and Adventures
Let's party... without the hangover! This group is for those who want to meet new people/connect with others that are sober-curious, alcohol-free, or for those who just want to hang out without having the social pressure to have a cocktail. Fun, healthy and novel experiences to meet new friends and form new friendships that can grow beyond the group. Check out our new FB group: [https://www.facebook.com/groups/753421726238625 ](https://www.facebook.com/groups/753421726238625) We ask that you are alcohol-free during the events (Cali sober is OK!) but you don't have to be living the sober life 24/7; just while we are out! Outings won't revolve around discussing not drinking, but you can of course share struggles. Outings may also take place at locations where alcohol is served (mocktails anyone?!), but we ask that you **do not** drink alcohol at those venues. Let's have a good time and REMEMBER IT! **WHO:** This group is made up of all kinds of folks! Those who never liked alcohol, those who can't drink anymore for health reasons, those who only drink occasionally, those who are in recovery, those who are trying to drink less or quit, and those who just want to meet new people and are ok with not drinking for a night! Adults only, please. The best way to meet new friends is to attend regularly! **WHAT:** We are the largest sober/sober curious group in LA/OC! We do all kinds of events! Beach outings, alcohol-free happy hours, skating, yoga, tourist attractions, trivia, music, museums and aquariums, bingo, movies and more! **WHERE:** Most events are in Long Beach, but occasionally in surrounding areas. **WHEN:** Events are for the most part weekly and have between 5 -40 attendees! \*Please note that since many of these events have a limited number of spots, those who no-show to 3 or more events will be removed from the group See ya soon! Fun OC Females for Outdoor Events

Huntington Beach, CA

Fun OC Females for Outdoor Events
Love to enjoy the year round great weather in SoCal and opportunities it provides for having fun dancing, drinking, eating, listening to music, watching live shows, and making new friends in the fresh air instead of indoors? Then this is the group for you... Want to work off calories with Hiking, Biking, Paddling SUPs, Snowboarding, Boating, Beach days, Ziplining, etc? Still the right group for you... Like good food and wine, beer, cocktails, etc. but are past the stage of always needing a friend to hold your hair back at the end of the night? Yup, right group.... Still have a healthy sense of humor and believe in seeing the bright side and finding the funny in situations? Hell YES! You have found your people. :) Basically, if you are fun, outgoing and love doing tons of things outdoors but would like a few more friends to do them with THIS IS THE GROUP! We will meet up to enjoy Live Bands, Outdoor DJ's, Music festivals, Concerts, etc, with dancing not only possible, but highly encouraged- even without a dance floor! We'll also go on day hikes, paddle SUPs, do bike rides, go snowboarding, etc. And of course, a break for an adult beverage is likely to be involved as well... Other possibilities: Pageant of the Masters, Long Beach Grand Prix, trips to Catalina, Winery visits, Brewery events, Holiday Celebrations, Restaurant Specials, Food festivals, etc. As long as something is outside, it's fair game for a good time! Suggestions from members are highly encouraged! The end goal is to make some great new friends to do things you love with- safely outside and drama free. No firm age range, just be mature enough to have a fabulous time while also being responsible and reliable. Ask questions, do research if needed, come prepared, on time and ready to have fun! Ladies Only Cheers!

The Cerritos Tennis & Misc activity group.

Norwalk, CA

My purpose for starting this group, is for any person and their guest who registered with "meetup.com", is for you to have a definite place and time to play tennis almost as much as you want, regardless of your skill level, but if you say"YES", please do all you can to be there for the sake of others who have commuted from a distance.. Our first meetup was great, and I hope to see you all soon.In addition, My goal is for me, and the other organizers of our group is to set up a wide variety of activities for our members:

Of all the descriptions of player levels -- from "A, B and C" to "beginner, intermediate, advanced" -- the best system was developed bv the U.S. Tennis Association in 1979. The USTA defines player levels on a scale from 1.0 to 7.0 in its National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP). A condensed version appears below. Take a few moments to determine your likely playing level.

1.0 Just starting to play tennis

1.5 Has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play.

2.0 Needs on-court experience. Has obvious stroke weaknesses but is familiar with basic positions for singles and doubles play.

2.5 Learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability.

3.0 Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up and one-back.

3.5 Has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Starting to exhibit more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage and is developing teamwork in doubles.

4.0 Has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. Occasionally forces errors when serving and teamwork in doubles is evident. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.

4.5 Starting to master the use of power and spins and beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. Can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. Tends to overhit on difficult shots. Aggressive net play is common in doubles.

5.0 Has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot or exceptional consistency around which a game may be structured. Can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away volleys, can successfully execute lobs, drop shots, half volleys and overhead smashes and has good depth and spin on most second serves.

5.5 Has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. Can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation and hit dependable shots in a stress situation.

6.0 Has obtained a sectional and/or national ranking.

6.5 Has extensive satellite tournament experience.

7.0 Makes his living from tournament prize money.
