Chronically Active

Welcome!!

This group is for those who want to remain active with others that understand the challenges of dealing with a chronic condition. <br>

My name is Lupe, I've been living with Sjogren's for 10+ years, most recently I was also diagnosed with Hashimotos. Sjogren's is an autoimmune, that among other things, attacks your moisture producing cells, causing painful inflammation, heat intolerance, dry mouth, dry eyes - dry EVERYTHING!

My main complaint is extreme fatigue and joint pain, mornings are the worse. Waking up feeling like you have the flu, everyday, is NOT fun! But my symptoms get better as the day goes on. Exercising, stretching and walking helps so much!

My husband, Brian and I took a photography class at Orange Coast College attended a school function, at the Huntington Library in Pasadena and it was HOT!

We were at the Japanese Garden and all of a sudden, I got so overheated, I felt like I couldn't breath. I panicked, started crying and like a wounded animal segregated myself, seeking shade and water. I didn't want my classmates to see what I was going through. But most importantly, I was embarrassed of being judged and I didn't want them to be upset at me for slowing them down.

Long story short, my husband Brian noticed I was missing and set out to find me, helped cool me down and got me through the day! No one was the wiser.

However, we know the importance of exercising and being active. But we also understand the challenges one faces when living with a chronic condition.

So, we started this meetup to build community, encourage others to be active and engage with others living with a chronic condition in a supportive manner.

No need to feel embarrassed or fear being judged by others in this group!

Our goal is to;

• Create Community; Hiking, Cycling, Walking, Beach, Photography, Museums, a little bit of everything, etc

• Promote and engage in an active lifestyle despite your diagnosis

• Group physical activities with others diagnosed with a chronic condition

• To get out and move the body and get the blood pumping

BEE-Long Outdoor Adventures and Other Shenanigans (LGBTQIA+)
## What we’re about: BEE-Long recognizes that adventure and family looks and feels different for everyone - We have made it our personal responsibility to facilitate, create, and collaborate with safe spaces for the LGBTQ2+ community within Orange County, CA. We will do this by providing various social and recreational activities throughout the county.  We welcome and encourage individuals of all ages (unless specified otherwise), abilities, and identities to attend our meet up events. We will host activities such as outdoor adventures including hiking, group camping, rock climbing, water activities etc. We have hosted social gatherings such as picnics at the park, potlucks, game night, beach walks, plant exchanges, cookouts and more. Sometimes we will share posts for events being put on by other people/organizations to attend together. Have ideas? Let us know! One major priority of ours is everyone's emotional and physical safety. When we host events we encourage the Truddy system (groups of 3). If you see or hear something, say something to a safe person. If anyone is being unkind and/or disrespectful, please let us know as soon as possible to support in addressing the situation. **About the Group Founders:** River (they/them) and Mardee (she/her) are the organizers and founders of this group. River was born and raised in Wisconsin and moved to CA in 2016. Mardee grew up in Arizona and moved to CA in 2007. We met in 2020 and immediately bonded over our connection to the outdoors, traveling, and social activities. Our combined passions and interest in building community are what kick started the idea for this group. (We knew we couldn't be the only queers down here in South OC!) We are a small family of four, with two kids (9 & 11) and our two dogs, a cat, 3 fish, and several frogs. We look forward to meeting you, your four legged friends, and chosen family. OC Snowboarders and Outdoor Adventures

Fountain Valley, CA

OC Snowboarders and Outdoor Adventures

Let's go outdoors.  Snowboard and ski in the winter and hiking and camping in the summer.  Are you adventures and looking for friends to do various outdoor activities with. We are too.  We started as a snowboarding group but have now ventured into outdoor adventures and more! We love winter sports and enjoy summer adventures as well. When there is snow, we hit up the slopes. In warmer months, we keep up the fun through hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing and other outdoor adventures as well as game nights and other fun stuff.

If you don't snowboard or ski, want to learn or enjoy outdoor adventures, we welcome you too!

Get ready to meet with local snowboarders and adventurers! Feel free to post trips & plan event with other snowboarders and outdoors enthusiasts via the message board or email. We will also meet up now & then to share boarding and outdoors stories & ideas about resorts, vacations, equipment, etc.  We will do happy hours, social networking and other fun things too!

*We snowboard and/or ski in Mammoth. If not Mammoth, we do local trip such as Mt. Baldy and Big Bear Mountain (Snow Summit and Bear Mountain). We don't discourage venturing to Vail, Aspen, Park City, Whistler, etc. The possibility is endless. Join us. If you are fun, adventurous, love the snow and the outdoors and cool adventures, and enjoy social networking, we welcome you! :)

We are getting ready for our first snowboarding/skiing trip of the year. Are you itching to go snowboarding or skiing? I sure am.  I can't wait! Snowboarding.  Yeppy!!

If you don't think you want to ski or snowboard the entire weekend, there is still plenty of cool stuff to do.  Ever been to Mono Lake and seen the tufas? It's like you're on another planet!  Ever hiked into a volcano crater?  Or what about hotsprings?  Who doesn't like hotsprings?
