South San Jose near Morgan Hill Women's Bunco

Morgan Hill, CA

South San Jose near Morgan Hill Women's Bunco
Update: We currently have a few spots open. We will close the membership at 70 members. This intentionally somewhat small group is for women 55 and up young in years in the South San Jose / Morgan Hill area that love Bunco or want to learn how to play, and enjoy spending a few hours together once every other month socializing and having fun in the hope we connect with others and form lasting friendships for game night and other activities, in and outside of the group venues. Although a private group, the group description is available for reading by all who click on our group. Please ensure we would be a good fit before sending a request to join. Our Bunco game nights were initially the first Friday night of the month. Since the pandemic, we have tried Zoom Bunco, and sporadically gotten together on off days for in-person Bunco. Skip to present day, we are playingvevery other month for Day Bunco on a Saturday. Ideally, we will rotate homes and hostesses but if you are unable to host at your home, you could always be the hostess in someone else's home for that month. Also, we have a venue that can host us. To enjoy the game to the fullest, ideally we will need 12 ladies (3 tables of 4) but will still have Bunco if we have a minimum of 8 (will be a High and Low table) or as high as 16 players. If less than 8 rsvp's then we will poll to see if interested in skipping Bunco and meeting for something else. Hoping we will have more members than that as we can always plan additional ladies' get-togethers now and then if there is interest. Please, be a team player (gets along well with others), no drama, and non-abrasive. Last-minute cancellations are highly discouraged but know things do come up in life. Too many of these will result in a no-show category. Three no-shows and you will be asked to leave the group until such time your schedule and availability free up to commit to attending events. To join you must provide a legible fairly current photo of yourself, keep a legible photo of yourself throughout your time with this group, complete profile, have a residence in the south bay area in which you reside, be willing to host in your home or be a co-host in someone else's local home or venue. Usually, all events will have at least a one-week lead date & time published notification for rsvp sign-ups. We have intentionally kept this group small (about 70 members)and do have a running list of game substitutes so we are not seeking members who only want to sub. If you have been a member for a while, you are more than welcome to bring a guest if we have spots open and members have been given a chance to fill the spots first. Guests always need to be run by the organizer. Please know that we are definitely open to a few more happy, laid-back, and local active members. Looking forward to our first Bunco game day or other fun activity together.

Here is a nice FREE iPhone app for tennis players: [http://www.tennishubapp.com/](http://www.tennishubapp.com/) If you do not know your NTPR tennis skill level here are the guidelines. It will be important in helping you get situated with players of similar levels: Determine your tennis rating using National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) categories. The U.S. Tennis Association developed the NTRP rating system and it is the most accurate rating system available. Player levels are based on a scale from 1.0 to 7.0, but our divisions are based on levels from 2.0 - 5.0. 1.0 This player is just starting to play tennis.1.5 Has limited experience and is still working primarily on getting the ball into play. 2.0 Needs on-court experience. Has obvious stroke weaknesses but is familiar with basic positions for singles and doubles play.2.5 Learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability. 3.0 Fairly consistent when hitting medium-paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth or power. Most common doubles formation is one-up and one-back.3.5 Has achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Starting to exhibit more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage and is developing teamwork in doubles. 4.0 Has dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate shots, plus the ability to use lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success. Occasionally forces errors when serving and teamwork in doubles is evident. Rallies may be lost due to impatience.4.5 Starting to master the use of power and spins and beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents. Can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve. Tends to overhit on difficult shots. Aggressive net play is common in doubles. 5.0 Has good shot anticipation and frequently has an outstanding shot or exceptional consistency around which a game may be structured. Can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away volleys, can successfully execute lobs, drop shots, half volleys and overhead smashes and has good depth and spin on most second serves.5.5 Has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. Can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation and hit dependable shots in a stress situation. 6.0 Generally do not need NTRP ratings. Rankings or past rankings will speak for themselves. The 6.0 player has obtained a sectional and /or national ranking.6.5 The 6.5 player has extensive satellite tournament experience.7.0 The 7.0 player makes his living from tournament prize money.Courtesy NTPR If you know the courts you will be playing at feel free to contact the event host so they can help you get situated and introduce you to the other players. Don't be shy. **So lets have some fun out there and play Tennis !**

Southbay Lesbian/Bi Book Club
This is a group for queer women and nonbinary people of *all* stripes who are attracted to women. We strive to be a safe and welcoming space for every member of our community. We are anti-racist and anti-TERF. Members take turns picking a book and hosting meetings. Books can come from any genre, not just queer lit. Meetings are also potlucks and social events, so bring a dish and be ready to dish! In addition to book club meetings, we also get together for other social events. We encourage members to post ideas and invite others to join in on different activities! **WHEN AND WHERE WE MEET** Book club is once a month, normally on the 3rd Sunday of the month, from 1pm-3pm. We meet at one-another’s homes throughout the Bay Area. We ask that members RSVP by a week before an event takes place, to give hosts time to prepare their spaces. **BOOK SELECTION PROCEDURE** Books are selected by that month’s host.
