Northern Nevada Women Campers

Reno, NV

Northern Nevada Women Campers
This is a group for women interested in camping in Northern Nevada and Northern California. All camping experience levels welcome. Women of all ages are welcome. Transwomen are welcome (transgender individuals that are process of transiting to a woman). Please note, that I may reference 'women' or 'female', in other locations on this Meetup, but by default Transwomen are always included and welcome. I started this group so women can enjoy a quick outdoor camping trip together. Most camping trips I plan will be short weekend getaways (leave Friday and get back on Sunday). Longer camping trips are definitely possible - if someone wants to coordinate them. DOGS Considering the many complaints that I had received about specific dog's aggressive or disruptive behavior, in the future if I have not met a dog, I will need to meet them prior to them attending a trip. If meeting prior to the trip is not possible, you can come with your dog, but please note that if your dog barks non-stop, bites, or shows other problematic behavior you will be asked to leave the camping trip immediately and the dog will not be permitted on future trips. Please note, that most campgrounds, trails, etc., require that dogs be on a leash at all times. You will be responsible for cleaning up after your dog. CAMPING FEES I will divide the camping site fee evenly among the number of women that can attend, a camper will be charged this fee. Camping fees are non-refundable after registration closes for a camping trip or for no-shows. Camping Fees can be paid via Venmo, Square, or Zelle and are due by the payment due date listed on the event. You can also pay in cash prior to the RSVP date at another event. If payment is not made by this date, your RSVP will be canceled. PLUS ONES This group is for women (or trans women) campers. All guests need to be women (or trans women) over the age of 18. We will occasionally have events that will be open to significant others or family members that will allow men and/or children, but these events will be more sparse and the event details will clearly indicate that men and/or children will be allowed. For our normal camping trips please only invite adult women. CAMPING TRIP SUGGESTIONS OR PLANNING A TRIP As mentioned above, I will book the camping sites months in advance. If you have a campground you would like to camp at or any camping ideas, please email me them a few weeks prior. If you want to plan a camping trip and have it posted on this site, please feel free to book and message me the details. I will create the event and add you as the event leader. NO SHOWS AND RESERVING Please only RSVP to a camping event if you are staying at the Meetup’s Campsite. Space is very limited, so please be respectful and only RSVP if you are certain you are coming and you are staying with our campsite. If you RSVP to an event, just to cancel after the event RSVP closing date, and/or do not show up to an event more than 2x you will be removed from the group. Please note, that I will make exceptions for critical emergencies e.g. sick family member, funeral, etc… If you are removed from the group, your annual fee or camping fees will not be returned to you. **MUSIC** – please bring headsets for music. Not everyone wants to listen to your music over a Bluetooth Speaker. However, if you are on a camping trip and no one has an objection to the music playing over a speaker you are free to play it. However, please ask first. OTHER DETAILS If you choose to attend one of the groups camping events, please note that the daily schedule is up to you. Once we arrive at the campsite, we can spend the day together, divide up in groups based on activity preferences, or go off and do our own thing and meetup for sitting around the campfire before retiring. How we choose to spend the camping trips should be enjoyable! Lastly, you are responsible for bringing your supplies, food, etc. Bringing firewood would be appreciated. If anyone wants to help manage this group and / or add their own adventures, please message me - I'm all about collaboration and active participation. I truly believe that more people inputting their experiences / plans creates a better overall experience. Disclaimer, if you are participating in any group activities and/or are a member of this group, you understand that camping and outdoor activities are not risk free and relinquish group leaders from all legal liability. Lastly, I expect all members joining any of this group's events to clean up after themselves (leave no trace) and be respectful of all campground, hiking trail, lake, etc.. rules. Other than that, I wish us all happy adventures!

If you are a "no-show" to any two meetups, we reserve the right to ask you to leave the group.

Reno-Tahoe Adventures

Reno, NV

Reno-Tahoe Adventures
This group exists to meet and share the wilderness experience with other outdoor enthusiasts. Anyone interested in hiking, backpacking, camping, snowshoeing, winter back-country exploration, winter camping, mountaineering, rock climbing, bouldering, or learning new skills, will find a home here of like-minded individuals. Activities are organized as appropriate for either all levels, intermediate, or advanced. Certain events have a higher risk level than others so in order to stay safe, it's important to know your limits. Events requiring specialized gear and/or skill sets are always noted. Also, one should always be willing to learn as well as sharing your skills and knowledge with others. Its' been my experience that when people have fun together outdoors there is a mutual respect that gets earned regardless of differences, so please support one another to make everyone feel welcome and have fun together. Remember, kindness is the only language everyone can understand, so let's communicate with each other in that way. When we are in nature, we always try to take care of her, so it is standard procedure to pack out everything we pack in. That, and an awareness of leaving a location in better condition than we found it, is always our goal, so let's take the opportunity to do so. If you have an advanced skill in any particular outdoor activity and are interested in teaching or leading the group in an adventure, please let us know. And, if there is an event that you would like to see happen, by all means suggest it. If attending a meetup that requires gear, you will have to provide your own, however, resources are available for the asking allowing one to borrow or rent most items. Look forward to some adventures and hangin out in the wilderness together! Best Regards, Elcap

Sierra Psychedelic Society

Reno, NV

Sierra Psychedelic Society
# Our Purpose Sierra Psychedelic Society is an organization focused on building community, providing education, promoting harm reduction and advocating for policy reform. ## About Us We believe that the safe, informed and responsible use of psychedelics and altered states of consciousness supports healing, personal growth and the evolution of culture. SPS is a platform for the dissemination of information, promotion of evidence-based advocacy and connection with an informed community and support network. Our aim is to facilitate learning, increased awareness and a reduction of risks associated with the socially constructive use of altered states of consciousness.   Psychedelics are powerful substances with potential for profound personal and collective healing, growth and evolution. They must be approached with caution and respect. SPS neither condones nor condemns the use of psychedelics, but rather seeks to create a safe place for constructive public discussion and informed discourse around benefits and risks of using psychedelics. We aim to educate the public on the mounting scientific research in this field, while honoring the indigenous cultures and traditions that have been using sacred plants and fungi for thousands of years. SPS is dedicated to building an active, supportive, like-minded community by hosting regular events to meet, share experience, and learn from one another. We take an integrative approach, discussing the social, cultural and scientific aspects of psychedelics—this includes inviting experts and those with extensive personal experience in each of those domains to offer their insights. We believe psychedelics are an integral part of the evolution of human consciousness, making apparent the sacredness and interconnectedness of all things, generating greater creative inspiration and fostering unity at a time when humanity appears increasingly divided and cut off from our wider ecosystem. SPS is part of a global movement committed to fostering a positive image of psychedelics and advocating for their safe, informed and socially constructive use. We are currently calling on our legislators to decriminalize entheogenic plants and fungi, among other psychedelics, and are committed to organizing a wide-spread grassroots network to support those legislators working for policy reform. ## Full Acknowledgment of the Law Discussion of psychedelic substances is protected under the First Amendment. While we favor a reconsideration of drug policies, we also fully acknowledge the current legal status of psychedelics. Hence, we do not provide illegal substances, allow their distribution at our events or encourage illegal activities. Sierra Psychedelic Society is not a place to seek, encourage, or participate in the procurement of controlled substances. Do not bring, buy, sell, transfer, or arrive on any illegal substances, or swap information on how to buy them. Any information we provide is for education and information only and is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. ## Our Values **Community** We are an organization devoted to creating community with people from all walks of life who share an interest in exploring altered states of consciousness. We provide community, support and integration resources to those seeking harm reduction, healing and personal development.   **Sacred Roots** Entheogenic plants and fungi have been used for thousands of years by indigenous cultures for the sake of healing and spiritual practices. We honor the wisdom of these cultures, strive to learn from them, and approach these traditions with reverence and respect. **Reason and Evidence** We appreciate reason, empirical evidence and strong scientific research. We aim to be transparent about both risks and benefits.   **Personal Growth** We consider psychedelic experiences as catalysts for personal and spiritual growth, not as a means to their own end. For that matter, we equally embrace pharmacological as well as non-pharmacological approaches of inducing altered states of consciousness. In all cases, we encourage safe practices that include (1) intention: being clear what you want to achieve, (2) preparation: being mindful of set and setting and (3) integration: carrying the learnings from a psychedelic experience over into your everyday life.   **Safety and Harm-Reduction** We neither promote nor condemn the use of psychedelic substances. Rather, we offer educational resources and engage in harm-reduction practices to maximize the safety and well-being of our community. Ultimately, we respect the sovereignty of the individual.   **Inclusivity** We are committed to inclusivity, welcoming people of all ages, abilities, genders, ethnicities and sexual orientations. Whether you are an experienced psychonaut or a curious beginner, we welcome your participation. Come as you are! **Discretion** In creating a space for all individuals, we encourage discretion when discussing events with other people in the community. Please do not use names of individuals who speak about their personal experiences unless explicit permission is granted. Due to the cultural stigma still attached to psychedelic substances, it is challenging enough for people to speak openly and we strive to create a safe container for our members to share.

Sierra Club Hiking-Reno

Reno, NV

Sierra Club Hiking-Reno
Friends and members of the Sierra Club, We have resumed offering hiking outings as of March 2022. Obviously our and the National Club's priority is your and your family's safety, as well as fulfilling our mission to get people outdoors! General Information About the Sierra Club and the local Great Basin group Outings Thank you for choosing to join us on one of our outings - a 100+ year tradition of the Sierra Club! For many decades, volunteers of our local group, the Great Basin Group, have lead outings throughout the region. Areas of the region include the greater Reno area, the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the vast interior of the state of Nevada. We are not "just another Meetup group". The Sierra Club has been in existence for over 125 years. Our mission is to "Explore, enjoy, and protect the planet". Our volunteer outings leaders will, at a minimum, have basic first aid training and go through a mentoring process with veteran outings leaders before becoming outings leaders themselves. That is the minimum that you can expect. Many of our outings leaders will have decades of experience leading outings in our region and have many wonderful outdoor secrets to share with you! Almost all trips posted on this website are Sierra Club outings - all participants must sign a **[Sierra Club Sign-in Sheet and Liability Waiver](https://www.sierraclub.org/sites/www.sierraclub.org/files/sce/great-basin-group/SierraClubSigninSheetandLiabilityWaiver_june2010.PDF)** at the trailhead before we begin each outing. If you have any question about the difficulty of the outing and whether you have the appropriate fitness, and/or equipment to participate, contact the outing leader before the day of the outing. During the outing, expect to remain with the outings leader during the entire outing, unless there is a co-leader (this is for safety and liability reasons). If you plan on bringing a dog, please ask the outing leader of the trip for permission and special instructions before the day of the outing. You do not have to be a Sierra Club member to participate in our outings.  All participants will be asked to donate $1 to the Sierra Club Great Basin Group every time they join us for an outing to fund our outings leader training programs.
