Nature Lovers Hiking Group for Active Seniors

Fort Collins, CO

Nature Lovers Hiking Group for Active Seniors
This group is for active seniors (approximately 60 years and better) who enjoy hiking in nature and meeting others who enjoy the same. Active, outdoors seniors are especially encouraged to join! We do easy and moderate hikes as well as weekly social walks. Most hikes are between 2 and 5 miles round trip (some more, some less) and are moderately paced -- we don't hike at a fast pace, but we also don't hike at a slow pace -- we go at a moderate pace.  Those who sign up for hikes should be physically fit enough to feel comfortable doing a 3 to 5 mile hike at a moderate pace with some breaks along the way. We usually bring a picnic lunch to enjoy at some point during the hike, and sometimes plan some social time at a local café or pub after the hike.  We encourage visiting to be done during these times rather than during the hike so that we can enjoy the sounds of nature and so as not to disturb wildlife. Although we will not ever purposefully approach or pursue wildlife, if you are hesitant to hike where we may encounter wildlife, including snakes, bears, mountain lions and other wildlife, this is not the group for you. We do go into some wild areas and hikers must be self-sufficient. We may make creek and other slippery water crossings and walk in rough terrain. This group is probably not for you if you need to know things like precise elevation gain, what to wear on the hike, number of steps involved, exact mileage, etc. (there's nothing wrong with wanting to know those things but I'm just not that kind of organizer). All hikers hike at their own risk. By signing up for a hike you acknowledge and accept that the organizer is not responsible in any way for the safety or wellbeing of participants or for anything that may happen on a hike. Group size is normally limited to ensure we are not hiking en masse. Let's get out and enjoy nature and each other and have fun!

Noco S.W.A.Gs over 50 (Social Women's Activity Group)

Fort Collins, CO

Noco S.W.A.Gs over 50 (Social Women's Activity Group)
We are a fun, new, easy going women's group looking to socialize with others our age, make new friends, explore new places, enjoy outdoor activities, and have a good time! We will host all sorts of activities and events, including breakfasts, lunches, dinners, indoor live music and dancing, outdoor concerts, hikes, walks, kayaking, current local events, and events to support many other diverse interests! I'm starting this regional women's group in hopes of making new friends and sharing experiences close to home with other women in my age group. My hope is that we all will develop friendships and will always have someone to do things with. Most MeetUps will be at venues around the Ft Collins/Loveland/Windsor area, though we will plan events to Denver, Longmont, Greeley, Estes, and Boulder too! **Membership** There are no conditions, other than being female; married or single. We welcome members age 50 or better; women in different stages of life tend to focus on different priorities, and we feel this age cutoff fits our purpose of being relatable to other members, wanting to be around them, and support them. Running the site and organizing events takes time and energy from mainly the organizers, so we are hoping this group can grow enough to add more organizers or hosts, in order to offer more quality, and diverse events to meet all interests and schedules. We hope you will join us! *** **What About Men?** This is primarily a women's social group, NOT a SINGLES group. However, depending on the interest shown, we can open a few events to include the men (and children and other pals/relatives) in your life; activities like outdoor local events, county fairs, dances, etc. It will be clearly stated in the event if men are welcome. **DUES** Starting in Feb 2023, it will be necessary to have yearly dues of $10-$15. Any leftover funds will be used for a picnic or party that will benefit all members. This Meetup site is not free for us to use, but it is a wonderful tool that makes organizing a large group much, much easier and faster, allowing the organizers to focus their energy in providing more events. It will cost about $220/yr for this group to be on the Meetup site and utilize all the tools and features, and that may increase. They also charge a processing fee of 7.5% +.50 per member transaction. We also have other expenses like game supplies, office supplies, event specific expenses and other misc. expenses throughout the year. **HEAD SHOT PHOTO/** **FULL NAME REQUIRED** \*\*\*\*\*We will require a head shot photo of yourself without sunglasses. This and a full name is both for safety purposes when we have events in members homes and to make it easier for us to find each other at events and for those with common names, it helps us distinguish you from the others with your same name. It also makes it more inviting and comfortable to new members when they are attending for the first few times, so they can put a face with names and existing members can identify new members. FYI-Our group status is set to PRIVATE, so only our members know what events you are signed up for and going to. Our events can not be seen by outsiders nor can they see our member list. If you are a member of other groups, they may not be set to private. PRIVACY SETTINGS-You have the ability to change privacy settings in your profile. **NO SHOW POLICY** The simplest thing you can do is keep your rsvp current and update it in as timely a manner that you possibly can if you can no longer attend! It's all about respect for the volunteer organizers and other members of the group and keeping the morale of the group strong. Please make sure to read the entire event description and expectations for the event you sign up for to avoid confusion and making more work for the organizers and other members. You are considered a NO SHOW if for any reason you don’t cancel your rsvp within the organizer's requested time frame posted in the event, or if you fail to show. Standard cancellation deadline will be 24hrs in advance of the event unless otherwise stated. Frankly, this has been our biggest, most discouraging issue in previous groups. Actions taken can be based on organizers' discretion, can be event specific, or situational for special cases and may result in 1) no action taken, 2) the 'no show' member being placed at the bottom of a wait list, or 3) in the worst case, the member being removed from the group. I will contact you if any action has been suggested against you. Organizers will be sharing with me and among each other, who the late cancelations and no-shows are for each event. Thanks for your understanding. Looking forward to meeting you!!! Laura Denigan-McLimans, Head Organizer

Northern Colorado Adventurers

"There is a sunrise and a sunset every day and you can choose to be there for it. You can put yourself in the way of beauty." -- by Cheryl Strayed, taken from the book 'Wild, from lost to found on the Pacific Crest Trail'

Please take note of the following VERY important information:

1) Our membership primarily consists of adventurer's in their 40's, 50's, and 60's, but we welcome anyone of any age into the group.

2) To request a membership, you MUST provide a clearly identifiable picture of yourself (No one else can be in the picture) without a hat or sunglasses. Requests not meeting this policy will be automatically rejected.

3) Your membership is put in 'Pending' status until you contact the main Organizer and attend an event. You cannot see any details of the events or other member profiles until you become a member. This is done for security reasons.

4) Finally, be aware that this is NOT a dating, drinking, or singles group. The mission of this group is strictly outdoor adventures.

Here is some other important information regarding our group:

The Organizer and Assistant Organizers are our leaders and serve as 'sponsors' for potential new members and will introduce you to other members of the group and explain what our group is all about.

Northern Colorado Adventurers maintains membership levels that provide a good balance of members to leaders for each event, emphasizing quality over quantity. Our policy is 12 people per event, subject to change based on the trail and other factors.

Please join us for the next adventure - it could be hiking, snowshoeing, a full moon hike, rafting, a hut trip, a camping trip, or maybe an evening of indoor rock climbing.

We provide a wide variety of hikes to accommodate all abilities. Although a majority of our hikes are in Rocky Mountain National Park and in the Poudre Canyon where there are hundreds of trails, we do try and schedule several hikes up Colorado's 14'ers during the summer months. We welcome outdoor adventurers from all the surrounding areas including Loveland, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont, Cheyenne, and Denver.

The Northern Colorado Adventurers activities may involve certain risks inherent with the activities that we do such as hiking, snowshoeing, rock climbing, rafting, canoeing and other adventures. You must post a clearly identifiable photo of yourself to be accepted as a member in order for us to know who you are since we almost always carpool. All membership is subject to verification over the phone or in person at one of the events.

One of the intentions of this group is to have members that are active, keep the size of the meetup events at a reasonable number based on the number of organizers leading each event, and to develop friendships and camaraderie. In order to accomplish this and make it effective, all members are required to attend at least one event every 6 months. This helps the organizers keep familiar with the needs of the members and encourages everyone to be active. All members are encouraged to suggest events to the organizers in order to generate new ideas and continue to allow us to explore new adventures.

Walking Mindfulness Meditation Group

Fort Collins, CO

Walking Mindfulness Meditation Group
Welcome to the Walking Mindfulness Meditation Group! This group explores different Colorado locations to experience mindfulness meditation while enjoying the outdoors. These walks are an opportunity to become centered and present in a state of mindfulness while enjoying a scenic location. As an optional activity, each walk has a theme if you want to do some mindfulness on a specific focal point. Some of the focal points are below. 1. The waking state of awareness 2. Awareness of your body's movement in space 3. Sensory center (sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch) Becoming mindful of these focal points can heighten your experience of them. About me and my experience
I am currently focused on increasing awareness of the thread of consciousness that begins at the waking state of awareness and moves through the conscious, subconscious, metaconscious, and superconscious bands of the mind.
I have studied integral meditation since 2006, applying transformational meditations that allow balanced spiritual development. For more info on my meditation courses, see my site at williamwood (dot) co (note there is no “m” at the end) This group assumes zero meditation experience and does not even require you to meditate if you would rather simply enjoy a picturesque location for a short walk. But, if you like mindfulness/ vipassana practices, it will also be a place to connect with individuals who share a passion for mindfulness.
