Whether you're new to Connecticut or have always been here, you've heard there's nothing to do in the state, but there's actually a lot of hidden gems. This is an activities-based social group for people in their 20's, 30's, and 40's. We'll be doing a variety of activities, so there should be something that everyone can enjoy! **Event No-Show Policy:** If you're RSVP'd to an event and are unable to attend for any reason, please change your RSVP, post in the event, or send the event host a message. Failure to notify the event host prior to the event start time will be noted, which several consecutive no-shows may result in your removal from the group. In addition, if an event has an attendance cap, with people on the waiting list, at least a 24-hour notice is required. Any notice less than 24-hours will be considered a no-show. However, if a reservation was made, a no-show or less than a 4-hour notice may cause your immediate removal from the group.

Please, read all of this before asking questions. This group is for couples for those 40+. Making friends later in life can be tough. This group tries to bridge that gap. 1. This is a couples group. Events are for both of you and not just 1 interested in the event. 2. This is NOT a swingers group. 3. This is a group for those wanting to meet new people, make friends experience new/different activities—bowling, wineries, breweries, trivia events, karaoke, mini golf, live music, dancing, etc. to name a few. 4. Please have a recognizable profile pic of both of you. Or if profile pic is just you then both of you need to sign up with recognizable face pictures. We understand privacy concerns but for our protection we need to recognize you when you arrive to the first few events. Failure to rectify after being asked = removal from group. 5. Please, notify us in advance if you do NOT want your pics posted. 7. If you commit to an event then discover you cannot attend, please notify us as soon as possible and change your status for the event. Sometimes there are costs involved, reservations required, min/max counts and your spot may be needed for someone waitlisted. 8. No-shows are simply rude. We reserve the right to remove you from the group if this occurs 2 times. See #7 for reasons. 9. We love suggestions for new activities. 10. Support the venue—we ask you make a reasonable purchase to support the business to maintain the activity we are enjoying. 11. Read all description info for an event before contacting us. 12. Culling the membership—we remove those who have made no attempts to attend an event in 12 months. 13. No soliciting. 14. As of September 2024, we are going to ask that every couple contribute $10 per year to cover the current costs of the meetup membership for this group. We ask that this be paid at the second event you attend, to allow you the opportunity to decide if you’d like to continue attending. We will keep track of when you paid so it’ll be a rolling year based on that timeframe. So if you paid us this September, we’ll loop back with you next September for another $10.

A group that is dedicated to providing unique, sophisticated, and fun social events for the ever-evolving taste and interest of today's bi/lesbian woman of color.

Social activities range from art openings, brunches, plays, movies, poetry readings, yoga, dinner parties, book clubs, after work drinks, outdoor adventures, wine tastings, group travel to DC, Philly, New York, and Toronto, and team sports etc.

NOTE: All bi/lesbian women of color (Black, Latina, South Asian, Asian, and Native American), including all transgender women of color who identify as lesbians, bisexual, and queer, from the tri-state area (NY, NJ, CT) are welcome to join. Because this group serves as one of the few spaces for gay and bisexual women of color, particularly feminine lesbians and bisexual women of color, to socialize free of the forces of racism, sexism, and homophobia, we ask that you do not apply if you are not a woman of color who identifies as a lesbian or bisexual.

CRITERIA: As criteria for membership, all applicants must include a headshot that clearly includes their faces in their profile pictures. Profiles with avatars, non-human subjects, cartoons, or photos that in any way, shape, or form, obscure members' faces will be rejected. Profiles should include members' faces in order to ensure that their profiles are legitimate in order to ensure members' safety. Profiles that do not meet this criteria will be rejected. The Arc of Southington, Inc. is a private, nonprofit organization founded in 1954. As an active local chapter of The Arc, our mission and focus is to serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. The group began with parents sharing their information and experiences raising their children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and we wanted to be there to support them. Originally known as The Southington Association for Retarded Children, it was later renamed The Southington Association for Retarded Citizens. In 1993 the name was changed to The Arc of Southington to remove the word “retarded” in keeping with the name changes of both The Arc of CT and The Arc of the United States. What began as a support group and volunteer organization has evolved into a human service agency providing advocacy, education, information, and an array of quality and individualized support to people of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our vision is for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to receive inclusive education, appropriate quality support, inclusion in all aspects of community life, and empowerment to live the lives they choose.
