Cure for Boredom

Danbury, CT

Cure for Boredom

Cure for Boredom is just what it sounds like. We are about building better times.
People getting up and out and finding new friends and events to enjoy and share. Curing your boredom exploring new horizons.
I was looking to form the perfect group and did but then I joined, and it was not perfect anymore 😉 ha-ha
So here we are looking to make life better by making memories and good friends. YES YOU! You should join and meet new people and find some events or activities that interest you. I hope that this group would have a variety of activities and events. If you join and really like an idea or have a suggestion then that is great and encouraged as any good group is a shared experience and your desire may just be the thing that someone else is looking to try or do.
Some ideas are music venues , hiking , trivia event , bowling , pool parties, Fire Pit nights , skiing , travel and diners , charities, pet friendly, billiards, boating , golf, concerts, comedy nights, biking ,social, health and living, wineries and breweries, kick ball games ………. And many many more. Now all of that may not be posted all the time but as this group grows it should be known that the many interest varieties of the members should be offered and made available.
Life is good and sometimes it could be better to find fun things to do with others. Fun without boarders so that we are not boxed in and you could also expand your boundaries to explore new areas and even meet new people.
Just remember that any group is only as good as its members. So, you are so awesome that I was going to name the group AFTER YOU! 😊 then you could have told everyone that you joined a group that was named “After You” 😉
Cheers!

ASL (American Sign Language) Conversation & Student Support

Bethel, CT

ASL (American Sign Language) Conversation & Student Support
**Are you an ASL student** looking to get more practice signing? This group might be just what you're looking for! **Are you a native ASL signer?** We'd love to have you in the group too! **The General Plan:** 1. I host regular Zoom meetings where you can **practice your conversation skills** with other signers. The majority of attendees will likely be students but there might be native ASL signers as well. 2. If there's interest, I'll plan in person meetings. **What To Expect:** 1. *Lots of small group conversations.* We spend about half of the meeting in **small groups based on ASL level** so that you're with signers who are around the same level as you. You'll have lots of opportunities to participate, practice what you know and learn new things from other members. 2. *Themes, games and activities.* I like to keep things interesting, so **check event details to see what the theme is** for each meeting. I'll also plan games and activities from time to time. **PLEASE NOTE:** 1. **If you are completely new to ASL**, this is probably not the best group for you. There is no official ASL teacher in our group and our meetings aren't classes. 2. If you **know the ASL alphabet and have some basic conversation skills**, you're welcome to join the group and see if you find it helpful. **Who Am I?:** I've been a student of ASL for about 7 years and a student of Spanish since I was in elementary school. I'm a bit obsessed with the process of learning languages. It probably has something to do with the fact that I was a teacher for 15 years. :-) I also have a group for Spanish students. Interested? Danbury Mineralogical Society

Danbury, CT

Danbury Mineralogical Society

We are an established mineral collecting club (having been organized ca. 1950) that meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 pm in the Danbury Historical Society building on 43 Main Street, Danbury CT 06810 (it is near the south end of Main Street close to the Danbury Commons). We have various activities at meetings including guest speakers, member generated presentations, show and tell, an annual auction, and more.  We recently started sharing all field trips with 4 other clubs from the CT and NY areas so we can collect at more places in multiple states.  If you miss one, there is sometimes a repeat trip to the same locality later in the year.

Membership includes :

1.  A monthly copy of "The Danburite" as it is published.

2.  Participation in  numerous field trips (insurance is a benefit of the membership).

3. Attendance to a meeting to hear from guest speakers and be included in other special events.

4. An annual pot luck club picnic and rock swap.

5. Special member price for the annual dinner seminar at a local restaurant.

Current membership dues are $15.00 per adult individual, $20.00 per family (including children under 18), and  $10.00 for students and senior citizens.

***Please note certain field trips may be restricted to adults only due to hazardous conditions at a collecting sight or insurance regulations.  Children are always welcome when a field trip is deemed safe, but they must be closely supervised by a parent. Junior members are welcome at all meetings.

If you would like further information, we also have a website.  It is http://danburymineralogicalsociety.weebly.com
