Welcome to the Black Bear Chapter Meetup of the Florida Trail Association, serving Putnam, Flagler, and Volusia Counties. Formerly known as the Halifax-St. Johns Chapter, this Chapter maintains approximately 100 miles of the Florida National Scenic Trail and Florida Trail in northern Ocala National Forest and north from Buckman Lock to Etoniah Creek, including the Rice Creek section. Trail maintenance is often accomplished with week-long camping outings. The Black Bear Chapter also maintains loop trails including the Bella Vista Trail at Washington Oaks Gardens State Park and the St. Francis Hiking Trail in the southern Ocala National Forest. The Black Bear Chapter schedules a variety of activities including trail maintenance, hiking, backpacking, camping, paddling, picnics and educational opportunities. Come enjoy the amazing natural beauty of our Florida environment. We welcome your suggestions and participation. The goal of Black Bear Chapter Meetup of the Florida Trail Association is to support the Florida Trail Association’s mission of building and maintaining the Florida National Scenic Trail as well as other trails throughout Florida. The Florida National Scenic Trail is a 1,100 mile public accessible trail spanning the length of Florida from the Big Cypress National Preserve at the Everglades to Gulf Islands National Seashore in the western Panhandle. Welcome to Film, Food, Friends & Fun meetup! Our group specializes in hosting movie and dining events at theaters and great restaurants around Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach. Usually, we go to a movie and eat at one of the nearby restaurants. Other times, we may meet at a great local independent restaurant and enjoy the wonderful diversity of fine cuisine the area offers. We are all about good times, making friends, wonderful food, and of course, catching the latest films from Hollywood to indie/art house (at Cinematique) and everything in between. We meet every Tuesday to take advantage of special deals like $6.00 nights. With the beginning of the new year, I'd like to bring attention to a few changes: 1. I am adding other activities to our meetup group, i.e.: game night, concerts at the bandshell, baseball games, round table discussions, wine walk, craft beer walk, art shows, etc just to name a few. 2. Our group is not a singles dating group. This group is intended to be a safe place for people to go out and enjoy themselves. 3. Our group is a drama-free group. If any members have issues or conflicts, please keep it to yourselves and/or deal with it outside of our events. If a person or persons disrupts the group, they will be banned from the group for life.
