Mosaic Outdoor Chapter of South Florida

Mosaic Outdoor Chapter of South Florida
Mosaic Jewish Outdoor Club of South Florida is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to providing Jewish people the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities. One of our goals is to provide easy access to outdoor activities while at the same time promoting an awareness, interest, and understanding of the importance of preserving our natural environment. The South Florida Chapter of Mosaic hosts a multitude of different activities , we serve Dade, Broward, and the Palm Beaches  and our events include a wide variety of traditional outdoor activities, including team sports, water activities, nature hikes, National Park Camping, Shabbat events, Marine Life Center visits, and much more. Additionally, many of our activities include philanthropic, environmental awareness, social and/or educational components. Look at our events calendar to see our upcoming activities. Even if an activity isn't close to home, give it a try. Half the fun is getting there, and it's a great way to explore some new areas.  We also enjoy a once a year opportunity to participate in the annual Jewish Outdoor Escape (JOE). The Mosaic's Jewish Outdoor Escape happens every year during an extended Labor Day Weekend. It gives Jewish outdoor enthusiasts from all over the world the opportunity to spend time with each other in a Jewish setting, and enjoy out-of-doors activities. We stay at a summer camp and the activities vary each year depending on the locale. Over 100 like-minded Jewish adventurers attend this event each year. The experience will typically include hiking, kayaking, biking, nature walks, horseback riding, arts & crafts, dancing, workshops, swimming, campfires, field games, photography, swimming and some great surprises!

Attract - ACTIVE - UNLIMITED
Thank you for showing interest in ATTRACT-ACTIVE-UNLIMITED. Please read ALL of the below to decide if this group is for you. Attract-ACTIVE was created with the intention of bringing any and all active people together to share events and activities that offer a large variety of experiences rarely found in other groups. Unlike other groups with a single organizer, EVERYONE in Attract-Active can post their own events, provided they are approved by the main Organizer. Members are HIGHLY encouraged to think outside the box (e.g. something beyond clubs or bars whenever possible) and find something unique to share with the group. **\*\*\*\*THE FINE PRINT\*\*\*\*** \*You must be between the ages of 21 to 50 years of age. \*No posting events that take place sooner than a week away, unless approved. \*Limited bars/clubs event postings. Exceptions are given if there is a special, infrequent event in that venue. \*RSVP responsibly. If you can't make an event, update your RSVP or note it in the comments section after as a courtesy to the organizer. Two (2) "No Shows" to RSVP-critical events and you forfeit your spot in the group. **\*\*\*\*OUR OTHER MEETUP GROUP\*\*\*\*** Looking for PHYSICALLY active and sporty events? Join our alternate Meetup group, ATTRACT-ATHLETIC here: [https://www.meetup.com/Attract-Athletic/](https://www.meetup.com/Attract-Athletic/) **\*\*\*\*POLICY ON HARASSMENT\*\*\*\*** If any member receives a message from someone they deem as inappropriate, sexually aggressive, or offensive, please message me with the members profile name and I'll personally investigate having them removed, not just from Attract-Active but from Meetup ENTIRELY. I have a zero tolerance policy on ANY type harassment or bullying of any kind in my group. Anyone found engaging in this behavior will be removed and BANNED. Not sure if your message falls into the above categories that will get you banned? Here are some guidelines (if you are male messaging a female... just as an example...): (1) Are you complimenting some part of her body or appearance that could be interpreted as sexual? If yes, DON'T. (2) Are you asking her out on a date when you've NEVER met her? If yes, that can be seen as a little forward. It's best to attend an event, see if you have some kind of mutual connection in person first. Then yes, message a lady like a gentleman afterwards. (3) Are you sending the 'ol "I can't wait to meet you at the next event!" message, while sitting at home in the dark with your shirt off as you massage your crotch in anticipation and you've never met this woman prior at any events? Definitely DON'T do that! The lady will absolutely UN-RSVP to avoid you. \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- QUESTIONS? Florida Trail Association - Big Cypress Chapter

Miami, FL

Florida Trail Association - Big Cypress Chapter

The Big Cypress Chapter of the Florida Trail Association serves Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.  We are an outdoor adventure and eco-volunteering group.  Our activities include hiking, backpacking, camping, biking, and paddling events throughout the year ranging from easy to strenuous, local to regional.  We focus on outdoor activities in South Florida.  Chartered in 1981, the Big Cypress Chapter of the Florida Trail Association has been home to some of the first and most long-term members of the Florida Trail Association, including Florida Trail founder Jim Kern.  Designated as a National Scenic Trail, the Big Cypress section of the Florida Trail is part of the original trail walked by Jim Kern on his first exploratory hike in the mid-1960s and is one of the wildest segments of the Florida Trail.  Our chapter strives to introduce and inform the ever changing inhabitants of the major metropolitan area of Miami and of the Florida Keys about the Florida Trail and discovering the beauty and wonder of natural Florida. The Big Cypress chapter maintains the southernmost portion of the Florida Trail in Big Cypress National Preserve, with assistance from the Alligator Amblers chapter, based in the Fort Myers-Naples area. The Florida Trail in Big Cypress National Preserve is one of the state’s most rugged places to hike.  Winding through a haunting landscape of dwarf cypress rising from sawgrass, rare rocky islands topped with pine rocklands, colorful cypress sloughs festooned with dense bromeliads and orchids, and dense jungles of tall ferns.  Slipping and sliding on wet marl and wading through ankle-to-knee deep dark water is a norm, and both day hikes and extended backpacking trips must be carefully planned, but the rewards are great: immersing yourself in one of Florida’s most diverse preserves, you truly get in touch with the wilderness.
Membership on Meetup does not mean you are an FTA member.  Please consider joining our state organization at
www.floridatrail.org  This will ensure that you receive our local and statewide e-newsletters as well as a quarterly Footprint newsletter from State.  There are also certain activities that will only be available to FTA members.
Activities are organized by authorized activity leaders.  Participants in activities must sign an Assumption of Risk form and agree to accept personal responsibility for their safety and the safety of accompanying minors.  Always contact the activity leader in advance for more information, to let them know you are attending, and to find out about any special requirements for a trip.
