CISMA stands for Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area. There are around 400 CISMAs in many states across the country. We are the Nature Coast CISMA, volunteers and land management professionals trying to protect our natural areas from being consumed by invasive species. We will be leading workdays to improve natural habitat across the local region.

This is a group for anyone interested in getting outside to enjoy this great area around Inverness. The primary focus will be cycling, mountain biking, kayaking, and hiking. That will not limit us though and hope to do anything the group wants like bird watching, amateur astronomy, live music, or a race at the racetrack. The objective is to get out and have fun!

Welcome Ladies! I moved to the area in 2021, and there was a void when it came to those of us in our 30's and 40's and early 50's, but I knew I wasn't the only one here! So I created this group for us to be able to find each other and make new friends. We are VCKC (Villages Canoe and Kayak Club) paddlers in The Villages, Florida, open only for residents of The Villages community. The Village Squares is a square dancing group that was started by Judy Mason in The Villages, FL in 2018. In early 2019 Judy met Don Hanhurst and he agreed to take on the task of getting the club going by teaching Mainstream lessons and having a weekly club dance. The activity was limited in that it was only available to Village residents. Our Callers We are very fortunate to have two callers who are well known and respected both nationally and internationally. Don Hanhurst started square dancing in 1949 and began calling in 1959. He was the club caller for over 20 clubs in numerous states as well as calling for state conventions, national conventions, and international events. Since moving to Florida in 1981 he formed or helped to form 13 different square dance clubs. He has been the club caller for the Village Squares since 2019. Dave Vieira started square dancing in 1975 while serving in the Air Force in West Germany and began calling in 1976. In 2015 he was inducted into the Texas Square Dance Callers Hall of Fame. Dave and his wife Michele recently moved to Ocala, FL. He is now teaching Mainstream and Plus classes for Village Squares.
