"Great Outdoors Group"

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you become lost while on a day hike? How about if you injured yourself miles from civilization and were unable to move? Then, all too quickly dusk approaches and the realization that you will be spending the night in the wilderness begins to sets in. Being prepared for this type of situation and having a well-established plan could mean the difference between life and death. That is why at the “Great Outdoors and Survival”, our chief aim is to help people build their knowledge of wilderness survival skills. Upon learning these skills members will understand how to: become self-sufficient in the wilderness, formulate a concrete plan to getting rescued safely when lost or injured and build outdoor leadership/confidence skills.

The “Great Outdoors and Survival” strongly believe a subject must be mastered before it can be taught; therefore, our teaching methods have been developed through years of education, practice, experiences, and dedication of our instructors and we structure our lesson around a fundamental survival principle commonly known as the Rule’s of 3.

So what are the Rules of 3?

The rule’s of 3 are the guidelines that state you cannot survive more than:

-3 minutes without air

-3 Hours without shelter or proper clothing

-3 days without water

-3 weeks without food

Classes we host:

-Wilderness Survival Kits

-Shelter Building

-Wild Edible Plants

-Tracking

-Fire Starting

-Water Purification

-Land Navigation

And much much more…

🕊️Algonquin Social Club

Algonquin, IL

🕊️Algonquin Social Club
Considering joining Algonquin Social Club? PLEASE READ: In the interest of preventing our club from becoming a meat market... For women seeking men or women: This isn’t the group for you. This group’s focus is on developing lasting friendships, not providing dates for members resulting in potential competition for same. For men seeking women or men: This isn’t the group for you. This group has no interest whatsoever in providing a hunting ground. For people seeking honest friendship in a trusting, loving environment with real, authentic individuals, who are worth investing your time with, is what this group strives for. Please don’t request to join if you are capable of bringing anything less to the table. Don’t waste our time or yours. If you’re still reading... We are a fun and friendly group in the far northwest suburbs! We do a variety of activities and are always open to suggestions. Let's get together for activities in our area to include happy hours, bowling, live music, wine/beer tastings, paint and sip parties, hiking, kayaking, bar bingo, dining, movies, festivals and more! Most members are 40-50 something years young, but all are welcome! Come join us for our next event! This group will be kept small and active, with more intimate events so often the number of attendees is limited, depending upon the event and whether or not a reservation needs to be made with the establishment - so there are a few rules as follow. Group rules: 1. No party crashing; showing up to an event with no RSVP or while still on a waitlist (it’s not fair to others left on a waitlist who can’t/don’t attend). Also, it might make other members feel uneasy by you showing up unexpectedly due to not being on the list of attendees. Even if you sit by yourself or with others you might bring with you, why would you want to be the elephant(s) in the room? Cliques from other groups are unwelcome...we aren’t in high school anymore. Lastly, there likely will not be seat(s) for you, depending upon the event; 2. In keeping with the focus to keep the club small and active, please attend events at least every month or two if possible; 3. Please keep your RSVPs current or you will be flagged as a no show; too many no shows and you’re out (it’s not fair to those left on a waitlist and unable to attend, and leaves an empty seat at the table). Also, we will waste time waiting around for no shows who are still on the list of attendees; 4. Be kind and considerate to others in the group and at the places we go; come to me with any issues that might need addressed. Please Note: We have no self serving interests other than a nominal $2 monthly fee to attend our events. Our focus is to create opportunities to socialize, meet people and have fun! There will never be a meetup fee at any event (surprise or otherwise) beyond your monthly fee. The monthly fees will be applied towards monthly organizer fees and event expenses throughout the year. Thank you all in advance for your generosity and support! **Disclaimers:** Algonquin Social Club is not a dating group. Although we are happy when two people meet and connect for something meaningful, please be respectful. Those making unwelcome advances, or otherwise making another member feel uncomfortable, might be asked to adjust their behavior, or leave the group. We want every club member, male and female, to feel comfortable getting together for an enjoyable time. We also ask that you please drink responsibly and arrange for transportation if you enjoy yourself a little more than you intended. **Be advised, we reserve the right to dismiss any individual that we feel may cause harm, disruption and/or general discomfort to other members.** Indemnification, Release and Hold Harmless: By requesting to join Algonquin Social Club and participating in its activities, you agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the organizer, any co-organizer and/or any event host from any and all liability in connection with any injury or damage incurred by you, including any of your guests and invitees, at any of the group’s events and you hereby release the organizer, co-organizers and event hosts from any and all liability whatsoever. Finally, by joining the club and attending its events, you acknowledge and agree that group photos are often taken and give permission to post photos in which you might appear. Please let me know if you find a photo unflattering or would otherwise like it removed and I will do so as soon as possible. All that aside, let’s have tons of fun and make some great memories!

Northern Illinois Dirt Riders

Marengo, IL

Northern Illinois Dirt Riders

I started this group because it can be hard to find people to go ride with.  This is a group is for people of all ages who love to ride off road motorcycle riding, motocross, flat track, enduro, Hare scambles, ETC. It could be a few people meeting at the track, a few people meeting at the trail head, or finding someone to watch a race with, whatever. Maybe you're a parent and you want to find other parents to meet up with when you take your kids to the track? All members can post rides, or races, ECT for other members to join in on it with you.

Registration assume you accept the terms and conditions of membership as a "rider" of this group.

By joining as a member you...

Acknowledgment of Risks and Personal Responsibility. You wish to go on a motorcycle ride or rides as a recreational sporting activity arranged through Meetup.com or the Norther Illinois Dirt Riders group.  This is not a commercial group or business, but is simply a group of friends and acquaintances who met online and wish to go on motorcycle rides together.  The group leaders have not charged  member fees to participate.  You understand and acknowledge that motorcycles are dangerous, that the terrain may present challenges and hazards, and that by being near others who are riding motorcycles or riding a motorcycle myself you may be permanently injured or killed.  Although a ride may have an organizer or a leader, you agree that neither the leader nor the organizer has agreed to take responsibility for my safety.  You are solely responsible for your own navigation, motorcycle maintenance, survival and equipment repair, and every aspect of safe motorcycle riding.

Voluntary Assumption of Risk. Nobody on this ride has any leverage or authority over you; you may ride or not ride with this group as you choose. You agree that you completely understand the final and binding nature of this release and waiver.  If you have any confusion about the meaning of this, do not sign up as a member and do not participate in any events.

Release, Waiver, and Covenant not to sue. In consideration for receiving permission to participate in this group, you hereby RELEASE, WAIVE, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE Norther Illinois Dirt Riders group , the Organizer(s), their Co-Organizer’s, their Event Organizer’s, their Assistant Organizer, or members who lead or participate in events (hereinafter referred to as RELEASEES) from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, damage, or injury, including death, that may be sustained by me, or to any property belonging to me, while participating in such activity, while in, on or upon the premises where the activities are being conducted, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER SUCH LOSS IS CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, or otherwise and regardless of whether such liability arises in tort, contract, strict liability, or otherwise, to the fullest extent allowed by law.

Chicago Burbs Outdoor Adventures and Hiking

Fox River Grove, IL

Chicago Burbs Outdoor Adventures and Hiking
This meetup group is for hikers of all experience levels who are looking to see new places and try new things. This provides a chance for people to make new friends through a shared love for the outdoors. Most hikes will be around the Chicago and Suburban area and occasionally Wisconsin. There is no charge for any hike and no donations with few exceptions. Exceptions include entrance to State parks in WI, overnight campground fees, overnight lodging and shared transportation when people carpool. The meetup event will detail such costs in advance. Hikes range from 3 to 12 miles and pace of 3mph or a little under. All ages welcome! Hikes in this group will be cross posted in other hiking groups and noted within the event. **Group History** This meetup group was originally known as The NW Burbs Camping. It was established back in July 2007! Previous organizers have held hundreds of fun social events and you can view past events on the calendar. The group was renamed at some point and had several different organizers over time. Prior to July 5th, 2023 this meetup group had a broader scope which included camping, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, snow shoeing, campfires, and other activities. The name was changed to The Great Lakes Outdoor Adventure Meetup. I'm changing the name again because I do not expect a heavy focus on other states at this time. The events in this group will always be cross posted with https://www.meetup.com/chicagoland-trailblazers-hiking-group/ as an outreach to members in other geographic areas since we hike all over. This enables us to reach members of further away communities. All rules/policies specified in https://www.meetup.com/chicagoland-trailblazers-hiking-group/ also apply to this group.

Crystal Lake Area 20's and 30's

Crystal Lake, IL

Crystal Lake Area 20's and 30's
Welcome to the Crystal Lake Area 20s and 30s MeetUp group. This group is meant to help bring together individuals in and around the Crystal Lake area of the outer northwest suburbs. Here is a rundown of what you can expect from our group: What kinds of events can you expect? The most common event you’ll see is Team Trivia and weekly jogs or hikes . Other event themes will include local communities’ activities, escape rooms if people are willing to help fund it, casual events just to hang out and things in Chicago. I, the organizer, often browse Eventbrite for things to do and may post stuff from there. Nearly everything found on Eventbrite requires a ticket purchase which can be done on their mobile app. Suggestions for events are welcome and you can be made the host if necessary. Rules regarding No-shows, RSVP’ing and behavior. Generally, there will be a 3-strike rule for No-Show’ing and last minute backing out before you get kicked out of the group. If you will be late, please announce it in the comments to let the host know so you don't mistakenly develop a bad rep. For events that require a payment to the host, it’s a simple early bird gets the worm if you hope to attend. Under no circumstance will harassment be tolerated. To all the guys with heat seeking missiles, keep it in your pants and your messages to yourself. If a lady in the group shows me unwanted messages you’ve sent her, instant ban. Same applies to the vice versa. Let’s keep this group civilized and respectful.
