"Great Outdoors Group"

Have you ever thought about what you would do if you become lost while on a day hike? How about if you injured yourself miles from civilization and were unable to move? Then, all too quickly dusk approaches and the realization that you will be spending the night in the wilderness begins to sets in. Being prepared for this type of situation and having a well-established plan could mean the difference between life and death. That is why at the “Great Outdoors and Survival”, our chief aim is to help people build their knowledge of wilderness survival skills. Upon learning these skills members will understand how to: become self-sufficient in the wilderness, formulate a concrete plan to getting rescued safely when lost or injured and build outdoor leadership/confidence skills.

The “Great Outdoors and Survival” strongly believe a subject must be mastered before it can be taught; therefore, our teaching methods have been developed through years of education, practice, experiences, and dedication of our instructors and we structure our lesson around a fundamental survival principle commonly known as the Rule’s of 3.

So what are the Rules of 3?

The rule’s of 3 are the guidelines that state you cannot survive more than:

-3 minutes without air

-3 Hours without shelter or proper clothing

-3 days without water

-3 weeks without food

Classes we host:

-Wilderness Survival Kits

-Shelter Building

-Wild Edible Plants

-Tracking

-Fire Starting

-Water Purification

-Land Navigation

And much much more…

Chicago West Suburban Naked Drums

North Aurora, IL

Chicago West Suburban Naked Drums

Drums may be mankind’s oldest instrument. We have found drums made with alligator skins from Neolithic cultures in China dating back to 5500–2350 BC. Other drums likely predated humanity itself, with modern macaque monkeys and even rats using percussion for social communication. Some form of drums are part of every human culture known today.

Almost as old as the invention of drums was the invention of clothes. It was our ancestors that started the habit, using animal skins to help them survive bitter winters and even ice ages. Like drums, clothing also became a means of social communication - mostly as a means to communicate rank or status, or to show membership in a tribe or culture.

In a world that is being split apart over class disparity and tribalism, nudity is the great equalizer. Any man or a woman without their cloths looks very much like any other. There is no conservatism, or liberalism, and little to distinguish wealth or status.

The purpose of this group will be to celebrate our humanity by sharing in an activity from deep in our history. By removing our clothes we will, for a time, set aside the things that divide us and join back together in the human tribe.  The music we create will be organic with no master plan, and each drummer helping to shape and direct the music of the community.

Principals

• This is a place of welcome.  Everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of background, body shape, or musical experience.

• This is a place of safety.  There will be zero tolerance for harassment or stalking behavior.

• This is a place free of body shame.  Comments on appearance will likely be interpreted as harassment. (see above)

• This is a place of kindness.  Be good to one another, and look to build each-other up.

• This is a place of trust.  To be naked is to be vulnerable, and that vulnerability must be appreciated and not exploited.

• This is a place of participation.  This is not a group for spectators.

Plainfield Walk and Hike

Plainfield, IL

Plainfield Walk and Hike
“Not all girls are made of sugar and spice, and everything nice. Some girls are made of adventure, fine beer, brains and no fear.“ --Or maybe somewhere in between!  This group is for **men** and **women** who enjoy having others to join them for **outdoor activities**. We are looking for like-minded individuals to come together for hikes and other outdoor activities to promote fitness and well-being. We walk at a very brisk pace. If that is not your current pace, feel free to come out to weeknight hikes (weekends are too rigorous for the novice hikers), but please realize that people will probably walk faster than you at the beginning and you can eventually adapt to meet the pace of the group.  Please note that you are ultimately responsible for yourself, your safety and your ability to complete a hike or event. If you begin the activity, you must be able to complete it or successfully see yourself back to your vehicle.  The organizer and other members cannot take responsibility for you.  We believe in encouraging others to reach new potential and health benefits, but to also be mindful of their own abilities and to be patient to slowly adapt their abilities.  While I would like to hike locally, often, I am hoping to keep it interesting and to add other locations...like Starved Rock, Matthiessen State Park, etc. It is **MANDATORY** to post a picture of yourself, simply for the purpose of members being able to recognize you when you are joining us on events. It is a courtesy so that we all feel safe and welcomed! I hope you enjoy your time with us!

Motivated, hiking, road trip women!

Plainfield, IL

Motivated, hiking, road trip women!
We walk!!! This group is for **active** women over 40 who want to meet and have fun! We have some great, **fast-paced** day trips and weekend trips doing a wide variety of things. The **hiking** will be mixed, some short, some long. Maybe my communication has been poor, but if you do not want to walk in nature, please remove yourself from the group. There may be sub-groups who walk faster and some who walk slower. I get in 1**4000 steps a day and that is 7 miles**. On the trips, I'd like to get at least that amount in each day. Are you looking to get in some exercise? Join us. One more thing about communication, if you are on my trip and have a reason for not attending a dinner or one of the events, please discuss it directly with me. These vendors need full communication if we are not going to be the size of group that I had committed with them. Please do not call the restaurant or venue directly. Go through me. If you do not like one restaurant on the trip, that is fine, just as long as you tell me directly, so I know what to expect and can change the size of the reservation. We go to dinners at unique restaurants, wineries, or anything in order to meet and discuss trips. It is important to meet before going on day or weekend trips! There are 3 organizers who create unique outings. If you want to be an organizer too, there are openings! I am looking for women who want to participate in outings, the entire outing. If you do not visit this group on a regular basis (once in 3 months) or do not take part in any outings I will remove you to make room for other women who want to join. (You can always rejoin later if you don't have time now.) If you want to go on Road Trips, you must meet for 3 local or day trips events. I am not a Travel Company and do not collect money for my own activities, this is strictly a fun thing for me. I want friends who get along to travel together for Road Trips. In order to go, you need to meet me in advance. We can take a walk and talk. I need to make sure you understand the trips include walking. It is best to sign up for events when you are sure you are going. These events are for small groups. When you sign up for an event that allows 8 people, you are taking a spot, filling a reservation, agreeing to be there. I am depending on your commitment. The restaurant or venue is depending on you. Businesses need our help after Covid, if you are not going to show up, the businesses have an opening that could have been filled by another. Please be mindful and don't be late either! All trips out of town are done with carpooling. I encourage everyone to fit into a small number of cars which promotes teambuilding! We always need volunteers to drive too!
