Upper Cape Ski and Sports Club

We are a year round club involved in all sorts of outdoor activities. Our primary goal is to promote skiing and snowboarding but we also bike, hike, kayak, camp and are open to suggestions from our members. Some of our activities are at no cost while others require minimal payments for events. We frequent New England ski areas as well as those out West and in Europe. We offer day trips, week-end trips and week long or even 10 day trips out West, to Canada and to European resorts. We also enjoy living and playing in the outdoors on Cape Cod.

The last seven years have seen us branch out in another direction by offering bicycle and barge trips to The Loire Valley in France, a trip from Amsterdam to Bruges and a 4 Country bike and boat trip down the Danube River. In 2019 we went to Provence France to see the magnificent Camargue region. For 2022 we offer a bike and boat trip to Croatia as well as Italy, both are in May. September 2022 brings us to Canada as we are going on a boat trip up the Rideau canal from Smiths Falls to just south of Ottawa . But, this group is for those of us who aren't willing to let a landscape completely devoid of rocks get in the way of our climbing habit. Outer Cape Hiking Club

Welcome to the Outer Cape Hiking Club. Our club offers a variety of hikes ranging from easy to strenuous in expected exertion level. We hike all over the Cape, from the Canal to Race Point, and usually go for scenic hikes or hikes that bring life to the history of a particular area. We hike year round as weather permits and average several hikes/week. We occasionally do hikes off-Cape, too. The purpose of this Meetup is to get people together who want to get out and enjoy the beauty of Cape Cod. This club is for people who enjoy a hike that leaves them satisfied with the physical level of exertion, the enjoyment of the outdoors and all the refreshment a hike with other people has to offer the body and the mind. It provides an opportunity to enjoy nature in the company of other adults without the distraction of cellphones, kids or dogs. And, don’t underestimate the social aspects of hiking with a group. Our experience has shown the benefits of hiking and conversation - before you know it, you’ve done 3 miles! These hikes are not for children under 18. Guests are usually welcome on hikes as long as the member believes his or her guest’s abilities match the Hike Level. A word about dogs - personally, I love dogs but have come to realize there are many people who are afraid of dogs, even small, well-behaved ones. This Meetup is meant to appeal to a wide variety of people, so we usually will not be taking our dogs. Having said that, we occasionally do some hikes where dogs are specifically included and pre-announced in the hike write-up. We strive to do at least one hike midweek and at least one on the weekend. Hikes are scheduled on no particular day of the week and usually based on weather and the hike leader's schedule. Similarly, a hike can be scheduled for just about any time of day, sometimes dependent on tides, sunset time, etc. or even traffic considerations. Cancellations will be posted at least an hour before the event is scheduled to start. We do consider biking and kayaking on occasion when there is interest among the members and leaders. For your safety and that of others in the group, please keep a current photo of yourself as your main profile picture. The recommended minimum hiking gear includes a good pair of hiking boots, a water bottle and a blaze orange vest (for hunting season safety). The Outer Cape Hiking Club offers good exercise, good company and opportunities to explore Cape Cod - all at no charge. What else could you ask for? Bourne to Kayak

Welcome to Bourne to Kayak! We are not a beginners club. We recommend at least a 14 foot sea kayak with two bulkheads or surfski to safely be a member. Kayak trips will be posted by volunteer hosts and are open to all experienced sea kayakers. Any criteria for participation, such as skill level or boat type, will be determined by trip host(s) and will be described in the trip posting. Those with sea kayaks/sit-in kayaks, surf skis are welcome to participate (sorry, no rec kayaks, SUPs or canoes).

In addition to trips, there will be occasional workshops to learn or refine one’s rescue skills, paddling techniques or rough water abilities. These might be free or a fee charged depending upon who is providing the training.

The posted trips will fall into one of the following five categories: However, conditions can change and therefore trips can end up longer than posted and seas can be rougher than anticipated. Therefore, everyone must gauge whether the trip and conditions are appropriate for his/her skill and fitness level.

The B to K group is not affiliated with any commercial vendors and thus cannot provide equipment. Some of the trips may launch at locations where rental kayaks are available, but otherwise participants must have their own equipment.

All participants will be required to wear PFDs at all times on the water. All participants in SFK group activities will be required to sign a waiver / release document. The waiver will acknowledge that participants assume full responsibility for their own health and safety. Trip hosts are not professional instructors and like all participants are solely responsible for their own safety.

We welcome you to join Bourne to Kayak and invite experienced kayakers to host paddles and share their knowledge.
