Outdoor activities groups near Falmouth, MA

Young adults in their 20s, 30s & 40s who enjoy year-round outdoor activities including walking, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, bicycling, and even some energy/moral boosting picnicking, snacking, coffee and ice cream. Most Meetups will be in the Southcoast area averaging 1-2 hours with occasional day trips to the Cape and western MA.

Yes, living on a sandbar is not an ideal location for a climber. But, this group is for those of us who aren't willing to let a landscape completely devoid of rocks get in the way of our climbing habit. I know there must be other climbers out there, and the goal of this group is to get together and stay strong for the winter months so that when the outdoor climbing season is here we're ready to send some routes! This Meetup is held on the first Tuesday of each month and will be $10 for non-CrossFit members, free for members.  Maybe we can even carpool once in a while out to New Bedford for a field trip to Carabiners... If nothing else it's an opportunity to hang out with some good people. So. show up, I need a belay!

This is a group dedicated to those of us who choose to make their primary or vacation home a tiny permanent or mobile space or dream of doing so. Whether it is taking refuge in a tiny house, cottage, or efficient apartment (under 300 sq. ft.), sailboat or power boat, RV, trailer, van, secluded cabin, yurt, tee pee, tree house, or cyclist/backpacker's tent, the reasons are varied, interesting, and enlightening.

Some of these reasons include:

**Seeking a more adventurous, active life (traveling more, not being tied down).

** Getting back to the land or sea and connecting with nature.

** Saving money on housing costs (mortgage, taxes, utilities, maintenance).

** Enjoying Cape Cod or other travel destination on a tighter budget or fixed retirement income.

** Escaping the rat race and simplifying life (choosing a less stressful job, having fewer possessions).

** Treating our environment with more respect (using less fossil fuel, producing less waste).

** Gaining a sense of accomplishment building/renovating one's own home.

Join Cape Cod's Latin Dance renaissance! The health benefits of physical activity and socialization are undeniable. From birth, and as we age, studies have shown significant outcomes for those who enjoy strong social connections and remain physically active. Social dancing is a way to do both! If you appreciate Latin music, want to be more physically active, socially connected, and have fun while doing so, you will enjoy dancing to lively salsa music and reap the benefits. With the help of volunteer instructors and other participants, you will be invigorated, meet new people, and join a growing community of salsa dancers at all levels (beginners to pro) right here on the Cape. Learn a few steps and dance the night away! The Social Salsa Dance Wellness Club is a free community-based wellness promotion program provided by the New England Wellness Foundation, a Hyannis based 501(c)(3) non profit organization, dedicated to promoting health and wellness across the lifespan.

Cape Cod Makers is engaged in promoting the Maker and DIY culture on Cape Cod. We do this through meetups, connecting local makers, hosting classes, group activities, and promoting shared resources and maker spaces. There is an enormous amount of artistic and technical talent on Cape Cod in a wide variety of areas. Also, there are many people who like to learn new things and improve themselves. We are excited about the possibilities of bringing all these people together on and connecting ideas to grow the maker movement on Cape Cod.

OUR FOCUS is generally geared toward active 40+ years old and beyond.  Single, divorced, widowed, married, coupled, men & women all welcome.  Many in our group are "single" often by way of various unplanned life occurrences.  We are particularly sensitive to this when planning & welcoming all to events.

UNPRETENTIOUS SOCIALIZING & EXPERIENCES are a very important part of everyone's life, including and especially those in the broad category of "SINGLE".

MAXIMUM TOTAL MEMBERSHIP for this group is capped at 500 ACTIVE MEMBERS.

It's found that with larger groups, typically only 5%-10% are actually "active" in EVER attending an event. Only 15% access those sites quarterly and the overwhelming majority NEVER access the site even once in a year. So the inflated memberships accumulated of the seemingly larger groups are vastly meaningless. Our focus is upon the active. 

POSTED EVENTS take place as time & energy allows.  As such, we'll focus upon a variety of active events that make a difference & enrich our lives, as well as those who's path's we cross.

MOST POSTED EVENTS generally occur within the South Shore & Cape Cod region.  Essentially, the southeastern MA triangle of;  Quincy  -  Cape Cod  -  New Bedford

NO CURRENT MEMBERSHIP FEE  -  To maintain "active" status, we encourage your regular participation.  Generally speaking, attending at least one or two meetup activities over a six-month period of time is a good minimum barometer.  Our gatherings rely upon the energy each person brings us. There is an ebb & flow with today's active schedules, however after a year or so of inactivity, our system is programmed such to purge "non-active" members. If this occurs, you can always re-join if you still have an interest.
