Outdoor activities groups near Marlborough, MA

This group is for married or committed couples interested in hiking, camping, kayaking, travel, etc.. All skills levels are welcome. The purpose of this group is to build friendships along the way with other couples who enjoy outdoor activities. Everyone is encouraged to make suggestions and throw out ideas for future activities, trips, and adventures! We are looking forward to exploring the outdoors with everybody. New England, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine and beyond.

Calling all active (and FIT for the activity you wish to sign-up for)  retirees (or not yet retired but taking time for fun) ready to explore and play with new friends! 

It's "summer" all year long now for us! We can do what we want, when we want! No more waiting for weekends and then having to try to find parking in crowded lots etc. We are free! We are looking for others who would love to get together for some fun (outdoors preferably) whenever we feel like it! Especially during the week when others are working and places are not crowded. While we will set-up activities to look forward to, those who are up for "last minute" gatherings can share their preferred "instant contact" info and we can text, email or call one another to invite for spontaneous fun. 

To keep our group a manageable size, at times we may need to temporarily put a hold on processing new member requests. As our events fill up quickly, our priority is for our members to have a better chance of signing up for our events. We will add on new members as members leave.

We do expect our participants to READ THE DESCRIPTIONS of each activity and only sign-up for the ones that you know you are FIT FOR and able to easily accomplish.                                                           

We will aim to post activities for various abilities as some of us do have knee, etc. issues. So flatter, shorter hikes will be part of our repertoire. 

For our PADDLES, we do need everyone to be able to transport your boat and all equipment to and from the launch sites unassisted. While we try to aid one another when possible, there is no guarantee that someone will be able to help.

If you were born in the 80s, and you want to have fun and socialize, this is the group for you! We're inviting like-minded people to connect and have a good time. What you can expect is events roughly every month where we'll meet at a local brewery/winery, or for some kind of outdoor activity. Thanks for joining, we're excited to meet you!

Looking to find people who like to get out and do activities during weekdays when everyone else is at work? Most meetup groups cater to the 9-5 crowd, this one doesn't. We may have activities on the weekends and evenings as well, but we're going to focus on the weekday mornings and afternoons. Including, but not limited to hiking, biking, kayaking, walking, lunch, brunch, movies, museums, fairs, festivals, live music, art, crafts, and much more.

What do I mean by "Metro Northwest"? I'm based in Littleton, and envision meeting in any of the surrounding towns such as Westford, Groton, Chelmsford, Lowell, Carlisle, Acton, Concord, Maynard, Sudbury, Lincoln, Boxboro, Stow, Hudson, Harvard, Bolton, Ayer, Shirley, Lunenburg, Pepperell, Dunstable, Groton, Tyngsborough, Tewksbury, Billerica, Bedford, and surrounding towns. People from anywhere are welcome to join, the events will be focused on this geographical area.

Ben Ryan is the organizer and planner of this group. Activities will require high skill and fitness level as they will be strenuous including Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, Stand Up Paddle Boarding, Ocean Kayaking and Backpacking. Participants must have the stamina, skills and equipment for any activity you rsvp for.  This is not for the casual or beginning hiker/biker/paddler/climber. 

That said, this group is all about having fun outdoors and being active doing a variety of fun, higher intensity activities mostly during the week.

Welcome book lovers! This group is for women who have been itching for some social interaction during COVID and who also love to read. This is a group for those who value inclusivity and diversity, support LGBTQ, support BLM, believe in wearing masks, and that take the threat of COVID seriously. Meetings will be via zoom or done outdoors and socially distanced. All genres of books are welcomed and we will vote as a group for the next month's title.

This is a casual group for light walks, hikes, and other activities in MetroWest.

We are a collection of happy geeks! We are people who are into anime, fantasy, sci fi, video games, tabletop gaming, manga, comic books, and more. Mostly we just like to get together and have fun! We have anime nights, gaming nights, movie nights, costume parties, etc. and do public events such as conventions, Renaissance Faires, museums and picnics. If you live in the MetroWest/Greater Boston area and want to meet people with similar interests, then join our group and come to an event!

Group Rules:

Be respectful and courteous of your fellow group members. This includes using polite behavior as well as exercising proper hygiene :). 

Harassment and abuse of any kind is not tolerated and may get you removed from the group at the Organizer's discretion. All harassment and abuse should be reported to the Organizer (Emily Renauld) as soon as it happens.

Please note that we are not a singles group! Of course, it is inevitable people will meet and fall in love in this group, but we are primarily here to make friends and share activities and interests with each other. Please don't expect to meet your soul mate or "hook up" with people. Treat everyone, regardless of gender or relationship status, with respect!

You must be able to provide your own transportation. We realize that not everyone has a car, but please make sure ahead of time that you have a ride to and from all events. Event hosts and other members are not responsible for providing transportation to other members to or from events.

Only RSVP to an event if you are able to attend. Three "no shows" will get you removed from the group. Telling an event organizer or host in advance that you will not be able to make it will not count against you. For events that require planning for a specific number of people, or for events that are full, you should give at least 24 hours notice if you can no longer attend. Giving less than 24 hours notice may count as a "no show" at the event organizer's discretion. Illness or other legitimate reasons are an exception.

Please read event descriptions carefully! If an event host says to bring food, drink or cash to pitch in, you are expected to follow through. If an event gives a deadline to back out, you should adhere to that or expect to incur a "no show."

We only accept members who are 21+. The age range for our meetup members is 20's and 30's. If we discover that you are not 21, you will be removed from the group.

All members are required to have one personal photo (a picture of their face) in their profile photo file. We will turn down applications with no picture or pictures with non-visible faces.

You're expected to have a name that you go by as part of your meetup profile. This is for safety purposes as well as to help event organizers mark your attendance correctly. A first name or nickname is fine.

You're expected to remain active in the meetup group. This means you should visit the page at least once per month or so to check out what events we've got going on. We will remove any members who have been inactive for 6 months. 

A part of being in the meetup group is receiving communications from organizers. These are typically important updates and you are expected to read them. If you feel you are getting too many e-mails from Meetup itself, you may adjust your e-mail settings on the meetup page (this is not something that we can control).

I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form will be used by the event holders, sponsors, and organizers of the activity or event in which I may participate, and that it will govern my actions and responsibilities at said activity.

In consideration of my application and permitting me to participate in any Happy Geeks activity, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and any guests I bring to any Happy Geeks activity or event and assigns as follows:

(A) I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of the entities or persons released, for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind which may hereafter occur to me including my traveling to and from this activity, THE FOLLOWING ENTITIES OR PERSONS: The Happy Geeks of Greater Boston, (Happy Geeks) and/or their directors, officers, organizers , volunteers, representatives, members, and event hosts, and the activity holders, sponsors, and volunteers;

(B) INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE NOT TO SUE the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in any activity or event, whether caused by the negligence of release or otherwise.

I acknowledge that Happy Geeks of Greater Boston and their directors, officers, organizers, volunteers, members, representatives, and agents are NOT responsible for the errors, omissions, acts, or failures to act of any party or entity conducting a specific activity on their behalf.

I acknowledge that any activity may involve a test of a person's physical and mental limits and carries with it the potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. The risks include, but are not limited to, those caused by terrain, facilities, temperature, weather, condition of participants, equipment, vehicular traffic, lack of hydration, and actions of other people including, but not limited to, participants, volunteers, organizers, monitors, members, guests, and/or producers of any Happy Geeks activity. These risks are not only inherent to participants, but are also present for volunteers and guests of members.

I hereby consent to receive medical treatment which may be deemed advisable in the event of injury, accident, and/or illness during this activity.

I understand while participating in any Happy Geeks activity, I may be photographed. I agree to allow my photo, video, or film likeness to be used for any legitimate purpose by the activity holders, producers, sponsors, organizers, and assigns.

The Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law.

BY PARTICIPATING IN ANY HAPPY GEEKS OF GREATER BOSTON ACTIVITY, EVENT, OR POST, I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENT. This is a group to provide single parents with fun activities to help them rebuild their social lives following separation, divorce or the death of a spouse. This group also provides events and resources to give single parents support, education and guidance in all areas to help change the course of their and their children's lives. While the purpose of this group is centered around single parents, all are welcome to join! This group is for single parents as well as anyone looking to make a difference in the lives of single parents, including professionals and business owners who provide services relating to tax and legal issues, as well as health, wellness and family issues.
