Late cancellations (within 24 hours of the event) make it difficult for others to join. Please be especially mindful of events with long waitlists. * Cancellations made within 6 hours of an event are considered "*no shows*" * **Members who have been marked '*no show* ' on two occasions may be removed from the group**. * For safety reasons, it is required that you include your name and a current, recognizable photo of your face for your profile picture. Members without a name and/or photo may be denied membership and/or removed from the group. * Please arrive at events on time. (The host is not responsible for looking for you if you are not at the designated location at the designated time.) * Certain types of events require a ticket purchase directly from the vendor. As a general guideline for these events, the attendance limit will be set to 1 (event host only). All members will be placed on the waitlist. Once the member confirms their ticket purchase with the host, they will be moved to the "Going" list. * This group adheres to current Massachusetts State Covid-19 recommendations for vaccination and masking. **A Note About Attendance Limits:** Attendance numbers for each event are set by its Event Organizer. We try our best to accommodate as many people as possible while retaining a comfortable and social atmosphere. Metrowest ACTIVE Retirees (or not yet) Ready for Adventure

Sudbury, MA

Metrowest ACTIVE Retirees (or not yet) Ready for Adventure

Calling all active (and FIT for the activity you wish to sign-up for)  retirees (or not yet retired but taking time for fun) ready to explore and play with new friends!

It's "summer" all year long now for us! We can do what we want, when we want! No more waiting for weekends and then having to try to find parking in crowded lots etc. We are free! We are looking for others who would love to get together for some fun (outdoors preferably) whenever we feel like it! Especially during the week when others are working and places are not crowded. While we will set-up activities to look forward to, those who are up for "last minute" gatherings can share their preferred "instant contact" info and we can text, email or call one another to invite for spontaneous fun.

To keep our group a manageable size, at times we may need to temporarily put a hold on processing new member requests. As our events fill up quickly, our priority is for our members to have a better chance of signing up for our events. We will add on new members as members leave.

We do expect our participants to READ THE DESCRIPTIONS of each activity and only sign-up for the ones that you know you are FIT FOR and able to easily accomplish.

We will aim to post activities for various abilities as some of us do have knee, etc. issues. So flatter, shorter hikes will be part of our repertoire.

For our PADDLES, we do need everyone to be able to transport your boat and all equipment to and from the launch sites unassisted. While we try to aid one another when possible, there is no guarantee that someone will be able to help.

DO READ ALL DESCRIPTIONS of the activities and the equipment needed for participation.

SAFETY FOR ALL is our main concern- and then FUN for ALL!

Regarding bringing friends: Please just have anyone who would like to come along join our group and sign-up for the activity online. It's free! Thank-you. <br>

North Central MA-Southern NH Hiking Group

Leominster, MA

North Central MA-Southern NH Hiking Group
*PLEASE READ - TO ALL MEMBERS: For safety reasons, your profile should have a clear and current photo of your human self (face) so that event hosts can recognize you when you arrive at an event. If it does not, your profile will get deleted.* *Also note that if your profile indicates that you have remained inactive (meaning, not attending an event) for a period of six (6) months, your profile will be removed from this group. So sign up and attend an event soon!* With that stuff out of the way, welcome to a very active and social MeetUp group!! Here you will find local people who are interested in hiking (in all seasons) and other activities for fun and fitness. We also cycle (on and off road), snowshoe, kayak, and cross country ski. We explore urban areas (large and small), visit museums, meet for dinner, go dancing, hear live music, and take in a movie once in a while. This group is a lot of fun, friendly, and always open to new ideas for meetups and new places to explore. We consider the regions originally intended, which are north central Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, but we venture out now and then to lands beyond our region. The difficulty of this group's hikes is normally set by the event host(s) to allow the maximum amount of participation for the maximum amount of members. Generally, a moderate pace of approximately 2 mph should be expected on most hikes. When hikes are planned that are more difficult, such as Mount Monadnock, the description of the meet-up will include this fact. Our goal is to enjoy the outdoors while meeting people interested in the same - not to conquer the mountains. Our hikes are also paced to keep everyone in the group more or less together throughout the entire hike. Weather is obviously a major factor in any of our hikes. We try not to cancel meet-ups for light rain - we are outdoors after all. However, in the case of heavy rain and/or lightning, we'll try to cancel at least 24 hours ahead of time. The best advice is to check your email the morning of a meet-up for any cancellations. ***Please consider contributing to help support this wonderful group. Funds are used to offset the yearly dues for this MeetUp group. You can send a check, made payable to "MeetUp," to Tamara Huston, 182 Middle Street, Leominster, MA 01453.*** **A note about conduct**: We are a group of like-minded people who enjoy getting together (for hiking mostly). Although members often develop friendships (and sometimes relationships) outside of the group, Meetup.com and the North Central MA/Southern NH Hiking group are not designed primarily to encourage dating or unwanted romantic attention. It's very important that all members of the group feel welcome on all of our events (not just the hikes). So please, respect the boundaries of your fellow adventurers. It's appropriate to contact someone through the Meetup site, or through email or phone, information that the member has given you, but encroaching beyond a person's comfort level is inappropriate. People who cross the line after being warned will be excluded from the group. *You do not need to RSVP "no" to an event unless you are changing your rsvp from a "yes" to a "no."* *Anyone soliciting products or services through this group without the organizers' permission will be removed from the group immediately. To discourage this kind of behavior, I ask that group members do not buy any products or services from anyone trying to sell them through this group or this website.* If you have any questions or concerns about this MeetUp group, please contact any of the event organizers listed in the left hand column of the webpage. Thank you, Tamara Meetup has changed our email address to: [north-central-ma-southern-nh-hiking-group-announce@messages.meetup.com](mailto:north-central-ma-southern-nh-hiking-group-announce@messages.meetup.com) == Legal Stuff === While event hosts attempt to plan events that will work for everyone and will try to anticipate and head off problems, you should not participate in hiking events if you would not be able to safely complete the described hike on your own. For all group hikes, think of your meetup organizer as fulfilling a social function in getting like minded people together. Please always review the event descriptions carefully. Learning about the terrain, conditions, local weather and your equipment before you start *is your responsibility*. Any attempts to increase the comfort and safety of events should not lead you to believe that event hosts are taking responsibility for your safety. By signing up for events, you are indicating that you are an adult who has the skills and ability to safely complete the described hike. Do not RSVP yes if this is not the case, as we will be relying on your judgment of your skills and ability. To read more about hiking safety, check out hikeSafe.com. By RSVPing "yes" to one of our events, North Central MA-Southern NH Group members and their guests agree to release, hold harmless, and indemnify the event organizer(s) and all members participating in the event from any and all claims for property damage, injury, and/or death while attending events. Westborough Walks

Westborough, MA

Westborough Walks

This group is operated by Westborough Community Land Trust (4/18/2021)

Discover the many outdoor charms of Westborough through hikes and activities guided by volunteers from the Westborough Community Land Trust (WCLT). Each event description will include a meeting location, estimated distance, duration, and level of difficulty. All are welcome.

WCLT acts as stewards for over 400 acres of land in Westborough including the Charm Bracelet trail system -- a community-wide network of over 50 miles of trails. https://westboroughlandtrust.org

The fine print: Although hiking is generally a very safe activity, there are small risks of mosquito or tick-borne disease, exposure to poison ivy, and injury (e.g., twisted ankle). We will do our very best to minimize those risks, but participation in these activities is at your own personal risk. WCLT will require that each adult participant sign a "Release and Waiver" for each event on behalf of themselves and any accompanying minor children.

Short Hikes Hiking Group
Updated 10/30/2022 - PLEASE READ - TO ALL MEMBERS: For safety reasons, your profile should have a current photo of your human face/self so that I can recognize you when you arrive at an event.  If it does not, I will ask you to replace it. I understand there may be circumstances where you may be unable to post a photo. If so, let me know. Before you take photos of anyone in the group, please ask their permission. This is a group for anyone interested in hikes, walking, bicycling, and any other activities that the organizers may offer. Hikes are typically under 5 miles in length. All skill levels are welcome. I like to meander and explore and while I try to plan ahead, due to my schedule, some of the activities may be at new destinations for all of us. I want to explore many beautiful places in Massachusetts (and beyond) that offer fun activities with a driving distance typically one hour or two hours from Central Massachusetts. Wildflower Farm Writers

Berlin, MA

Wildflower Farm Writers
The purpose of this group is to gather creative thinkers and writers to write together, critique each other, and to help each other grow. This group is an off shoot of our book club. Some of us are also readers. A few of us also write so we decided to start another group for ourselves to write together and to open it up to grow our community. This is a woman's writing group focused on women trying to write either for fun or more seriously. We do fun and creative exercises for short things, and some of us too are working on larger bodies of work. This is a new idea and the nice thing about it is that those joining can help us work out the finer details, culture, methods, and activities. We are here for all writers, all levels, all varieties of people, all genders, sexual preferences, colors. Be patient till you tell us how you want to be viewed/ called/personal pronouns/ anything and everything else. We will honor whatever you choose. Everyone is an individual. We love all types. Respect matters. This group is about honest reviews. Be critical, be honest about your view. This information is helpful. We are here to grow, learn, and improve. There is a difference between being mean, and being honest and critical to be helpful. Please know the difference, and if you don't... wait and think about it and try to say it if you really think it makes a difference and can be helpful, figure out the kindest way to say it. The goal is to make each other better. Cruelty is not welcome nor does it make anyone better. This group meets on a private homestead farm that doubles as a tiny B&B. So the covid rules are very strict. To attend our meetings you must present proof of being vaccinated and UTD on all covid boosters. We test before any and all indoor group meetings during surges in our area/s. Each meeting is strictly limited to 10 people. We hope to get a nice group of people who really want to attend and participate. in nice weather we meet outdoors, where we can watch the goats playing on the hill, from under the wisteria in the heart of the herb garden. In cold icky weather we meet indoors by the wood stove. We are potluck so bring whatever snacks you want. Wine, etc, welcome. No one leaves here unfit to drive. Joining this group you agree to stay here in the event you are unfit to drive till you are fit to leave here. Don't be insulted if anyone doesn't eat something you brought. People have allergies, personal taste, and other food related issues. It isn't about you. It says nothing about you or what you bring. Must love dogs. Loving cats is optional. Stories welcome. Conspiracies unwelcome unless they are part of your writing piece.

New England Dog Friendly Day Trips, Getaways, Gatherings

Hudson, MA

New England Dog Friendly Day Trips, Getaways, Gatherings

Please read this entire page prior to joining New England Dog Friendly Day Trips, Getaways, Gatherings.

This group is for dog lovers who would like:

- Weekend getaways with your dog

-Attending day trips that are dog friendly

- Exploring New England with your furry friend

-Socializing with others that love their dog

-Participating in fun dog friendly events

-Or just spend an afternoon together

If you are like me, your dog is a very important part of your life.

I love to be outdoors and exploring new places, but most meetups that I belong to don't offer a lot of dog friendly excursions. Through my research I have found many great places to go, events to attend, and overnight getaways to participate in with my faithful companion. Join us on some of these adventures!

Only well behaved, socialized dogs and their humans are welcome to join. If you like the company of dogs ( and their humans) and don't have a dog in your life at the moment, you are welcome to join us as well.

Please post a current photo of you, or you and your dog, so that we can recognize you at an event!

If you are a no-show on 2 or more events, you will be removed from the group. Simply update your RSVP if you cannot attend, so that someone else can attend. A no-show is when you do not attend an event that you RSVP'd yes for, and do not change your RSVP to indicate that you will not attend.

Rules:

1)If you choose to let your dog(s) off-leash, you are responsible for the dog's actions according to the terms of the Liability Waiver. You also agree to be responsible for any fines that may be incurred due to a breach of rules of the organization owning or responsible for the meetup location.

2) Dogs are expected to be well behaved and under owner control at all times. This group is for well socialized dogs only! We are not the venue for dogs that are learning how to socialize! If your dog barks excessively, any restaurant  event may not be appropriate for your dog. Let's face it! All dogs will bark! Barking within reason is expected!  Excessive barking is when your dog continues to bark and will not stop even when you use a voice command to attempt to stop his/her barking. Please be prepared to remove your dog from the event, if you cannot control his/her barking. It is not fair to other patrons of the establishment who are trying to enjoy the venue as well. We want to be invited back to a chosen venue, and do not want to jeopardize that in any way!

If your dog has an incident of aggressive behavior, causes other dogs or people in the group to feel uncomfortable in an way, you will be removed from the group.

3) You agree to take personal and financial responsibility for any damages to property, people or other dog(s) caused by your dog(s) or any dog(s) you have brought to the meetup.
