Do you wish Gordon Ramsay was less shouty and didn't just make you feel bad about food? If the answer is yes to any of these, join the MOFOs and get a sweat on at your own pace. Join a semi-self-directed workout - all you need is yourself, although a yoga or beach mat would make it a little more comfy. And probably water too, that seems sensible. On cold days, I'll bring tea to keep your hands toasty. On hot days, I'll bring tea because it's nice to drink tea. I'm a firm believer in the restorative powers of movement - connect with your body, revel in your own energy and find your center. And at the very least, make getting out of bed just that little bit easier. This is suitable for all ages, but mostly tailored for adults. We'll have no-equipment exercises and work at a pace that suits you - if you saw something awesome on fitness video, bring your ideas!

The Boston Hiking Meetup Group

The Boston Hiking Group is here to help hikers share hiking ideas, get together on all manner of hikes and walks , and get to know some of the mountains of New England. The vast majority of events are hikes, but we may share other outdoor activities and activities related to the outdoors (such as the Banff Film Festival or AMC educational events).

Our meetup organizers are all volunteers who are willing to take time to share outdoor experiences. Often we may want to try out something new and put out a call to see who is willing to join us. Our trips may range from a 1 mile walk in the park, to a 35 mile day trek in the mountains, or a backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail.

We expect our members to be thoughtful about which hikes they join, and to be sure they have the appropriate level of knowledge, gear and fitness to undertake the hikes they attempt.

All are welcome to join the group from beginners to experts; locals to new transplants. We welcome your participation, your energy and your ideas. We do have a few questions for new members, which help other members and organizer to know more about you, and help us keep out spammers.

We don't decline new members as long as they seem to be real people interested in hiking. If there are no coherent or relevant answers, we will assume you are a spammer and decline your membership without further explanation.

Greetings All! I had a moment of clarity this morning while mountain biking. I was somewhat deterred by the heat and humidity but could not let the weekend expire without a ride in the woods. I was prepared for a belabored ride but surprisingly, it was not although I did appreciate the breeze coming over the surface of the swamp and at other points during the ride. TMI? I hope not and rather was thinking and hoping that there are others like me that appreciate and long for more moderate to high intensity outdoor activities, across the four seasons and to include mountain or rail trail bike rides, hiking, fast-paced walking and snowshoeing. I will not be planning ski trips since there is more planning and logistics involved and I don't care for road biking since I find vehicles and the traffic very distracting. I am an avid mountain biker and would be glad to organize a few low impact/easy rides and provide tips and pointers but not for absolute beginners. So as members join, realize that most events will likely be on the North Shore and feel free to express your preferred activities.
