Many of our members are like family here, and you are more than welcome to join our family...We're quite often told we're the most fun and funniest meetup around - there's several members that will leave you in stitches if you hike with them...We're also HUGE into themed style hikes so if you're in that, you might just have found your tribe... Our secret to our success is our charmingly small events...We like to preserve woods for future generations and are strong into Leave No Trace ethics here, so you won't see many large social events offered here except for anniversaries or charities...If you need to be in the woods with 50 other people, this isn't the group for you...Loudness in the woods with parade style hiking is not our thing... Our members tend to be 45-55 on average, but we certainly welcome older and younger folks as well...We have everything from beginner hikers/kayakers/bikers to people who regularly hike 50+ miles, live on kayaks, and competition mountain bike... In order to join, you must have a clearly identifiable profile picture. Picture of you and not you and others. This is for safety reasons and so members can recognize each other at events. Welcome to the Frederick Hiking Group for people in their 20's and 30's! Our group is perfect for those looking to explore the beautiful outdoors, get some exercise, and make new friends in Frederick, MD. We organize hikes of varying difficulty levels and distances, from easy nature walks to more challenging summit hikes. Our members are in their 20's and 30's and come from diverse backgrounds, but we all share a love of nature and adventure. We welcome hikers of all skill levels, from beginners to experienced hikers, and encourage everyone to challenge themselves and try new trails. In addition to hiking, we also organize social events and other outdoor activities, such as kayaking, picnics, and post hike breweries and winery meetups. These events provide an opportunity to connect with other outdoor enthusiasts in a relaxed, fun setting. Check the discussion board to see events planned for the current month. We prioritize safety and environmental responsibility on our hikes and ask that all members follow Leave No Trace principles to minimize our impact on the environment. So if you're looking for a fun and active way to explore the great outdoors and meet new people in Frederick, MD, join us for our next hike! Many of our events have waitlists on them and as a result if you are a no show at an event you may be automatically moved to the waitlist on the next event. **Who we are:** US Hiking & Backpacking Club (US-HBC) is an United States based outdoor group led by volunteers. Our mission is to model and contribute to a healthy life-style while leaving an ever-decreasing footprint. US-HBC was founded in 2015 by, then, Washington, DC resident Jin Zhang, a passionate outdoors lover. In 2021 she created another outdoor club, Budget International Travel & Trek Club (BITTC), to focus on outdoor exploration via international travel, hiking and backpacking while making it affordable to most outdoor enthusiasts. The US-HBC promotes and supports both local and national hiking, trail maintenance and watershed cleanup organizations and participates in such volunteer endeavors. **WAIVER** Your participation in any club activity resulting in bodily injury and/or death, and personal and public property damage or losses is your sole responsibility. You are responsible for your own safety, preparedness and mental & physical wellbeing. You need to know your trip-related skill level, experience, physical fitness and medical condition. The Frederick Gay Men's Fitness Meetup is a diverse group of guys from the Frederick, MD area who plan regular fitness, boot-camp, runs and recreational events. Each month we will schedule events that range from a group runs through Monocacy Park, stretching and core exercise in Baker Park to an outdoor full-body HIIT workout to weekend wellness getaways. We will meet monthly to workout together, discuss training routines, nutrition, and current news in fitness.
We strive to foster an inclusive environment for all fitness backgrounds and age ranges. Open to singles and couples and everything in between!
