Gen X connects… over food, drink and the outdoors

Portland, ME

Gen X connects… over food, drink and the outdoors
We're hoping to connect a group of 40/50 somethings in the Greater Portland/mid coast area who enjoy food, drink and the outdoors. It feels like the 20-30 somethings have a lot going on and so do the retirees, so how about us?! We are fortunate to be surrounded with nearly endless opportunities to connect in and with nature, whether it's hiking, dog walking, strolling the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, snow shoeing, cross country skiiing, ice skating... you name it. And Portland and the surrounding area is an awesome locale for the foodies among us who love great restaurants and inspiration/ingredients for cooking. Not to mention a vibrant craft beer scene and cool cocktail spots that are ideal for socializing. If any/all of it sounds like you, come join us for some meet ups. Looking forward to getting to know you! PLEASE NOTE, THAT BY JOINING OUR GROUP AND/OR ATTENDING OUR EVENTS YOU ALSO AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING: * You agree to be respectful to fellow group members and also our RSVP system. If you cannot attend an event, please change your status at least 24 hours before (or direct message the host) so we can free up that spot for others. If you are a no-show at 2+ events, we reserve the right to deny your reservation for future events. * With any physical activity, you are undertaking this solely at your own risk and you acknowledge this with your event RSVP. * With outdoor events, you are responsible for preparing yourself for the elements (dressing for the weather, choosing suitable footwear, wearing sunscreen and bug protection, etc.) and staying aware of your surroundings. * You take responsibility for your own consumption of alcohol at events and are responsible for your own actions. Please drink responsibly and do not drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances. * You recognize that our group is social in nature and not a forum for furthering your business. * You understand that the Gen X Connects group of Meetup.com may take photographic, digital or video images of event participants for advertising purposes, and you hereby agree to allow this group to use those images for that purpose without expectation of privacy or remuneration. * YOU AGREE NOT TO SUE AND TO RELEASE, DISCHARGE, WAIVE, HOLD HARMLESS AND TO INDEMNIFY THE GEN X CONNECTS GROUP OF MEETUP.COM AND THEIR ORGANIZERS FROM AND AGAINST ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE, INCLUDING THE NEGLIGENCE OR CARELESSNESS OF ANY RELEASE, ARISING OR RESULTING FROM YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THESE EVENTS.

Scarborough Land Trust Nature and Farm Events

Scarborough, ME

Scarborough Land Trust Nature and Farm Events
We organize programs and events for the Scarborough Land Trust (SLT), a private, non-profit, community-based organization focused on conserving and stewarding land for people and wildlife—forever. SLT has conserved over 1600 acres in Scarborough; the natural and agricultural resources, scenic vistas, public access, wildlife habitat, and historical significance offer unique value to the broader community. SLT owns and maintains nine public preserves with parking and trails, open every day of the year. SLT’s mission also includes connecting people to these lands and each other through our programs, events, and volunteer opportunities. See some examples here: https://scarboroughlandtrust.org/events/. If you appreciate any of the following, we encourage you to join us: * Nature and the outdoors * Open spaces and walking trails * Learning about and experiencing local woods, waterways, and wildlife * All-season group walks/hikes * Educational events related to ecology, the environment and farming * Forest bathing * Socializing outdoors * Family-friendly outdoor activities We intend to post SLT programs and events here that would be of interest to MeetUp members. Many of our programs are free, but a ticket fee may be associated with registering for certain events. By joining this group, you are not obligated to donate time or money to SLT. SLT is a 501(c)3 organization, so if you visit our preserves or participate in our programs, supporting the cause is entirely up to you, and much appreciated by us! PLEASE NOTE THAT BY JOINING THIS GROUP AND/OR ATTENDING OUR PROGRAMS, YOU ALSO AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING AND FURTHER ACKNOWLEDGE THIS WITH YOUR EVENT RSVP: • You agree to be respectful to fellow members and our RSVP system. Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network

Portland, ME

Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network
**Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network** (SMSKN) is an organization for ocean-going sea kayakers to meet paddling friends, learn about safe paddling, and plan trips together.  We are an all-volunteer nonprofit and have been active since 1992. Our trips are mostly in the open ocean along the wild and beautiful coast of Maine. Except for some training sessions, all trips are on tidal waters. We are an active group with trips, training sessions, and monthly membership meetings where we socialize (mostly on-line at this point) and hear interesting talks about many aspects of ocean paddling.  Additional information, including recordings of past meeting presentations, are on our website, **smskn.net**, so check there for additional paddling resources. *Sea kayaks with sealed bulkheads and static deck lines are required for our trips, as is the use of spray skirts, PFDs, and appropriate immersion protection and safety gear.* Most of our activity, including joining, event planning, and paying dues, is handled through our Meetup page, so please browse the upcoming and past events to learn more about us and what we do. If you're a long-boat ocean sea kayaker looking for paddling friends and skill-building opportunities within a fun and active year-round paddling community, you're in the right place. **Come join us!** To join, please complete two steps: 1. **Join using your full name, please, on the Meetup profile**. (The full name is for safety purposes.) Membership is $20 annually and helps pay for coaches, speakers, pool sessions, and other paddling resources. 2. **Please sign our online Participant Agreement, available on our website under Club Documents.** Again, for safety purposes, this is required of all members.
