Gen X connects… over food, drink and the outdoors

Portland, ME

Gen X connects… over food, drink and the outdoors
We're hoping to connect a group of 40/50 somethings in the Greater Portland/mid coast area who enjoy food, drink and the outdoors. It feels like the 20-30 somethings have a lot going on and so do the retirees, so how about us?! We are fortunate to be surrounded with nearly endless opportunities to connect in and with nature, whether it's hiking, dog walking, strolling the beach, paddle boarding, kayaking, snow shoeing, cross country skiiing, ice skating... you name it. And Portland and the surrounding area is an awesome locale for the foodies among us who love great restaurants and inspiration/ingredients for cooking. Not to mention a vibrant craft beer scene and cool cocktail spots that are ideal for socializing. If any/all of it sounds like you, come join us for some meet ups. Looking forward to getting to know you! PLEASE NOTE, THAT BY JOINING OUR GROUP AND/OR ATTENDING OUR EVENTS YOU ALSO AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING: * You agree to be respectful to fellow group members and also our RSVP system. If you cannot attend an event, please change your status at least 24 hours before (or direct message the host) so we can free up that spot for others. If you are a no-show at 2+ events, we reserve the right to deny your reservation for future events. * With any physical activity, you are undertaking this solely at your own risk and you acknowledge this with your event RSVP. * With outdoor events, you are responsible for preparing yourself for the elements (dressing for the weather, choosing suitable footwear, wearing sunscreen and bug protection, etc.) and staying aware of your surroundings. * You take responsibility for your own consumption of alcohol at events and are responsible for your own actions. Please drink responsibly and do not drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances. * You recognize that our group is social in nature and not a forum for furthering your business. * You understand that the Gen X Connects group of Meetup.com may take photographic, digital or video images of event participants for advertising purposes, and you hereby agree to allow this group to use those images for that purpose without expectation of privacy or remuneration. * YOU AGREE NOT TO SUE AND TO RELEASE, DISCHARGE, WAIVE, HOLD HARMLESS AND TO INDEMNIFY THE GEN X CONNECTS GROUP OF MEETUP.COM AND THEIR ORGANIZERS FROM AND AGAINST ALL LIABILITIES, CLAIMS, DEMANDS, LOSSES, DAMAGES, SUITS AND PROCEEDINGS, REGARDLESS OF THE CAUSE, INCLUDING THE NEGLIGENCE OR CARELESSNESS OF ANY RELEASE, ARISING OR RESULTING FROM YOUR PARTICIPATION IN THESE EVENTS.

Active/Athletic Singles 40s/50s/60s I am organizing a new group for ATHLETIC, SINGLE, FUN, OUTDOORSY, individuals that like to enjoy the outdoors in what some people say is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Let’s be thankful and explore together! The goal is to provide adventures that allow people to get to know each other and help people discover new places and ideas. Individuals will connect through fun, shared experiences either in person or on-line (depending on COVID restrictions). Activities can include (but aren't limited to): hiking, camping, skiing, snowshoeing, travel, happy hours, dinner parties, BBQ's, breweries, comedy clubs, etc. Online activities may include slide shows of personal adventures to inspire people to get out and enjoy. Our hikes and adventures can fit within a variety of distances, skill levels, elevation gains etc. I am recovering from an injured hip so outings that I lead will be limited in intensity for now. However, other members will be encouraged to become trip leaders to organize trips and activities that they think will be fun for you and others. Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network

Portland, ME

Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network
**Southern Maine Sea Kayaking Network** (SMSKN) is an organization for ocean-going sea kayakers to meet paddling friends, learn about safe paddling, and plan trips together.  We are an all-volunteer nonprofit and have been active since 1992. Our trips are mostly in the open ocean along the wild and beautiful coast of Maine. Except for some training sessions, all trips are on tidal waters. We are an active group with trips, training sessions, and monthly membership meetings where we socialize (mostly on-line at this point) and hear interesting talks about many aspects of ocean paddling.  Additional information, including recordings of past meeting presentations, are on our website, **smskn.net**, so check there for additional paddling resources. *Sea kayaks with sealed bulkheads and static deck lines are required for our trips, as is the use of spray skirts, PFDs, and appropriate immersion protection and safety gear.* Most of our activity, including joining, event planning, and paying dues, is handled through our Meetup page, so please browse the upcoming and past events to learn more about us and what we do. If you're a long-boat ocean sea kayaker looking for paddling friends and skill-building opportunities within a fun and active year-round paddling community, you're in the right place. **Come join us!** To join, please complete two steps: 1. **Join using your full name, please, on the Meetup profile**. (The full name is for safety purposes.) Membership is $20 annually and helps pay for coaches, speakers, pool sessions, and other paddling resources. 2. **Please sign our online Participant Agreement, available on our website under Club Documents.** Again, for safety purposes, this is required of all members. Portland by Night (and Day Too) - Social Group

Portland, ME

Portland by Night (and Day Too) - Social Group
'Portland by Night (and Day too)' welcomes you! We are calling 2024 the "Year of Positive Energy" and look forward to spending time together doing fun things with friends! (2024) Learn about our group and our policies: Click on 'Read More' . . . ***Please note that all new members are required to read our 'POLICIES' and answer the questions when you join.*** We have a new policy that attendance at each event is at the discretion of the host(s) of that event. Everyone (including organizers and hosts) have the right to have a fun time in a safe, supportive, friendly environment! (2023) PBN offers a wide variety of events and locations that can help you get out of the house, do something you enjoy and make some new friends! We are an easy-going, open minded group. Everyone is welcome. This group is totally inclusive and tolerant regardless of AGE, sex, gender, ethnicity or political leanings. These are some simple guidelines to keep this fun and fair for all: please remember that the organizers and hosts are volunteers and that all of us want to have pleasant experiences! ***BASIC GROUP RULES AND GUIDELINES:*** * This is a social group, not a singles group. Please keep that in mind at all events and keep it friendly. Social events are a great way to meet new people and develop new relationships. Please feel free to bring friends, spouses and partners to all events where guests are allowed, if they are included in your RSVP. * Please keep all conversations and interactions friendly. This means we would prefer to keep politics out of the conversations as they do not mix well with alcohol. Sports talk is encouraged, and some events will revolve around some sporting events. Again, please keep it civil. * Please refrain from gossip and bad-mouthing either at meetup events or in the 'comments' section of the event. If there is an issue with another person in the group you are welcome to contact any of the organizers. If you have issue with an organizer or event host please bring it to the head organizer through the 'messages' tab on the group main page. * Since many events involve alcohol, please drink responsibly. Please use public transportation, Lyft/Uber or designated drivers. The organizer(s) take(s) no responsibility for your behavior and are not liable for any repercussions or legal issues resulting from such behavior. * PLEASE POST A PHOTO OF YOURSELF. We like your dog/cat/horse/lobster, but we request you post a photo of yourself so that we can identify you at event. Profiles with fake photos will be deleted. * Feel free to take and upload photos after events. Please be civil and do not post inappropriate or explicit photos on our site or any other social media site. * Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This includes aggression, sexual inappropriateness, bad language, not paying your share or just being a jerk. These types of behavior will result in immediate expulsion and banning from the group. You are all adults and should know what 'Bad behavior' is. * There is no 'Merchandising' or 'Self promotion' allowed withing the group. Your profile should not include links to your business nor should your profile name be a 'DBA'. Organizers will not be hosting Meetups and get togethers for monetary gain or profit. There are plenty of other social media sites to promote you business. * 'NO SHOW' POLICY (Posted April 2, 2021) We are establishing a 'NO SHOW' policy for the 'Portland By Night' Meetup Group. We feel this is necessary for a couple of reasons. First, we are growing as a group (600 members) and we now have many members who attend regularly. No-shows have not been a problem because all our events have been outdoors for several months and group size has not been a problem. Second, as the cities open to limited capacity, we will be adding more meetups in intimate settings. We will still focus primarily on outdoor events until the population gets vaccinated and we return to a more normal activity schedule. Meetups have a group size limit for a reason. The organizer of the event will determine what the maximum attendance level is for safety and comfort reasons. We also must limit attendance size for restaurants and happy hours for obvious reasons. For this reason, we are establishing and publishing our 'NO SHOW' policy which takes effect immediately. PLEASE READ AND UNDERSTAND THE 'NO SHOW' POLICY and all other group rules. Thank you. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*  Each member is responsible for maintaining their own 'RSVP' status. If your plans change, please modify your RSVP so that someone else can take you place.  People on the waiting list are automatically moved to 'GOING' when someone moves off the 'Going’ list. If you are on the waiting list, you are responsible for monitoring your RSVP status.  All members are responsible for monitoring their RSVP status prior to the event, especially in the 24 hrs. before the event.   This is extremely important because some meetup events require us to make a reservation for a maximum amount of people. A 'no show' means an empty spot.  Please send a Private Message (via the Meetup APP or the web version) to the organizer if you cannot attend.    'Portland by Night ***NO SHOW POLICY***' A 'No Show' will show up on your personal profile if you fail to attend an event that you are signed up for. * A second 'No Show' will result in the member possibly being blocked from all events at the discretion of the Leadership Team. * A third 'No Show' will result in the member being excused from the group permanently. These policies will go into effect on April 1st, 2021. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* 'Portland by Night Social Group' - Group Legal Disclaimer and Liability 1\.
