Solar Outdoors
Solar Outdoors is a Southeast Michigan based club with more than 400 members. Founded in 1975, Solar Outdoors remains dedicated to helping its members enjoy nature and outdoor activities. Membership in the club is required for full access to our Meetup site.  Annual dues are $6 for individuals.  Please read further if you are interested in becoming a club member.  Questions about membership can be directed to **[solarmembership@solaroutdoors.org](mailto:solarmembership@solaroutdoors.org)**.     \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Solar Outdoors members themselves organize workshops and events in which other members can participate. Whether you are a beginner or experienced wilderness enthusiast, you will find workshops, activities, and trips for all skill levels and many different interests including--but certainly not limited to!--backpacking, day hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, paddling, orienteering, wildflower and tree identification, whitewater rafting, and geocaching. Solar Outdoors members can also borrow gear from our store of packs, sleeping bags and pads, stoves, and other outdoor equipment for an annual member fee of $35. To learn more about Solar Outdoors and its activities we encourage you to visit our website, [www.solaroutdoors.org](http://www.solaroutdoors.org/). There you will find a calendar of upcoming workshops and events. These sources give more information about who we are, what we do, and how we do it. We also welcome anyone interested in the club to attend our monthly meetings, held at **St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 27475 Five Mile Road, just west of Inkster Road, in Livonia** on the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at 7 pm. SOLAR is not affiliated with St. Paul's or any other religious institution.  Directions are available here: [http://solaroutdoors.com/solarmeetings.html](http://solaroutdoors.org/About/Meetings.aspx).  The business meeting is followed by a program on a topic of general interest to our members. Solar Outdoors uses Meetup as a tool of convenience for our members to quickly get information about upcoming classes and activities and to sign up and pay for these events online. That's why our Meetup group is restricted to paid members of the club and non-members have very limited access. Once you have checked us out online and, we hope, in person by attending one of our monthly meetings, you can decide if becoming a member is right for you. If so, you can join the club by downloading the membership form ([http://solaroutdoors.com/downloads/S.O.L.A....](http://solaroutdoors.com/downloads/S.O.L.A.R_Membership_Application.pdf)), filling it out, and either submitting it with a check for the dues payment at one of the meetings or mailing both to the address listed on the bottom of the membership form. Once you are a club member you will have access to this Meetup group. Thank you for your interest in Solar Outdoors. We hope to meet you soon.

Meet other local members to ride, paddle, explore trails, talk gear and trade tips. We are here for anything fun outdoors and indoors. Some of our popular events include cycling, kayaking and skating but we are not limited to those. For example, hiking if there are leaders and enough interested members. Also, our events aren't limited to the city of Detroit, most of our events are in Southeast Michigan and there may be a few farther away. All levels of cyclists are welcome. We primarily do recreational rides on paved roads or trails. There will be group rides on streets with traffic. There will be group rides on the rails to trails that anyone can ride. Many are geared to a relaxed pace of 10-15 mph, distance varies. We may also plan some other rides such as mountain, fitness, and road biking, etc. if there is interest. All levels of paddlers are welcome. Many of us have kayaks but SUPs and canoes are also welcome and you can rent many places if you don't own. We primarily will be doing recreational paddling on local rivers with not much current, suitable for beginners or intermediate level. Some locations may be more advanced. There will also be other activities posted from time to time such as skating, social events or other activities that fit within the group's topics. The goal is to gather, make new friends and share activities that get you outdoors and/or keep you active. Your main profile picture should be a clear shot of your face so we can recognize you at events. Pictures of your child, pet, motorcycle, favorite cartoon character or even a group shot (which one are you?) aren't acceptable. If that's a problem you should contact the organizer to discuss it. \ **NEW** See here for our latest RSVP and attendance policies: [https://www.meetup.com/Activeindetroit/pages/31252444/Active_in_Detroit_group_policies/](https://www.meetup.com/Activeindetroit/pages/31252444/Active_in_Detroit_group_policies/) **NEW** Support your Meetup group by paying dues or making a donation: https://www.meetup.com/Activeindetroit/pages/17195192/Membership_dues/ \ All events are adult only unless otherwise specified in the event description. \ We are now on Facebook, which will make it easier for communication and event sharing. Network Outdoors Greater Detroit Meetup Group

Detroit, MI

We have found great success building strong bonds and trust with others who also enjoy living life close to the land or waterways. Business relationships take time, but it’s amazing what happens just by spending a few days, or even a few hours, together on a fishing trip, sharing stories around a campfire, a good long hike, or crossing a field looking for fowl. Network Outdoors is more than just a group of business professionals or business owners from different industries looking to pass cards and swap 30-second commercials. Our members share experiences, grow businesses, promote outdoor activities, and give back to those organizations who work tirelessly serving our land, water, and habitats. Join us as a guest to meet other outdoors men & women at our various monthly meetups around greater Detroit and the state of Michigan. All food, beverages and everything you need to participate on the clay ranges is provided if you don't have your own gear. You DO NOT need to be a member of Network Outdoors to attend our monthly meetups. Most meetups run from 5:30-7:30pm but we have started new meetups offering early afternoon timeframes to all more options for those who only can meet during regular business hours. It’s magical what the outdoors does for us as individuals. Imagine what it could do for your business and the community! *you do not have to shoot clays if you don't want to, but would still like to visit and meet people. We also have a trained/certified Range Safety Officer with us at all times while on the range and plenty of people to help with anyone newer to shooting clays there for their first time.

Metro Detroit Recreational Outdoor/Indoor Pick-up Basketball

Livonia, MI

Metro Detroit Recreational Outdoor/Indoor Pick-up Basketball
**Metro-Detroit Recreational Outdoor Pick-up (M-DROP) Basketball**:  This group is for anyone interested in some clean, fun, recreational outdoor (and indoor) pick-up basketball in the Metro Detroit Area. It was started out of a desire to see some organized pick-up basketball in the Metro Detroit Area that didn't require any membership/rental fees for indoor gyms (especially during the Spring/Summer/Fall time when the weather is nice enough to play outside on Free Public Courts. This group is open to all, so "Youngbloods" and "Oldtimers" are equally welcomed. We are open to all skill levels (provided you either already know or can quickly pick up on rules of the game). The one thing requested is that people be respectable and respectful! This group is meant to be a fun way for folks to get some moderate intensity outdoor cardio in on the weekends without having to sign up for gym memberships or set up rec-league teams. **Basic Ground Rules (The following rules all fall under the Motto of "*Be respectful*")**: •  Please refrain from showboating or trash talking; as mentioned earlier, this is meant to be a just-for-fun group and we don't want to incite any brawls. • Physical play is acceptable to a limit: NO Hard/Dirty Fouls!!! We don't want people injuring themselves and having to miss work or school. • We will also be playing on public outdoor courts for the most part, so players should be respectful to the public hoops and nets; please refrain from hanging on rims or pulling on nets. We play outdoors in the Spring/Summer/Fall on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12 noon. Games are scheduled at alternating courts in the Metro Detroit Area, such as at ITC Sports Park in Northville/Novi, Harding Park in Ferndale, Lawson Park in Royal Oak Park, Griffin Park in Canton, Corrado Park in Westland, various courts in Detroit, and more. Winter games on Saturday are at a gym in Livonia. Weekday games are on Wednesdays or Thursdays, typically from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and are usually played at a gym in Dearborn. Most all games are 5 v 5 full court (unless fewer than 10 players show up, which is very rare). Games are relatively short timewise, so awaiting players can quickly rotate into the next game. \- Tim \(Organizer\)

Southfield Embodied Process Groups: Indoor & Outdoor Options

Southfield, MI

Southfield Embodied Process Groups: Indoor & Outdoor Options
***Hello and welcome to your Wellness Beyond Words!*** When someone joins a process group, they become part of a conscious constellation with others, and the breadth of their life expands.   Group work holds deep potential for you to discover your own and other people’s infinity – and the extraordinary experience of being revealed together. **There may be nothing more needed in our world today.**   I facilitate several different ongoing, committed process groups. (One always meets outdoors, and the other three meet indoors, at the beautiful Evans Creek Lodge on the Rouge River.) The growth, bravery, safety and love that develops in these groups continue to mystify me. **Group members learn to be present with evermore of their most loving, wild, relational and authentic selves.** Together, they reclaim, nourish and strengthen. These experiences reach throughout group members’ lives and even seem to reach through time as well, healing old wounds, and pave the way for future successes. ***What happens in a group?*** Many different things, for sure. But we often first settle into ourselves and the session with various forms of warming up, then check in with each other, which leads us to explore and support the needs and longings that are currently present. This generally involves some degree of revealing, moving, laughing, and learning, while feeling more seen and less alone. We close as a circle and return a couple weeks later to find our flow again. Somehow, over time, a kind of alchemy develops. And lives change.   ***Through group process you will also be able to…*** * Clarify your boundaries, wants and needs with others * Experience an extraordinary amount of group energy to help lift you beyond your current limits, in the timing that is compassionately attuned to your own growth * Have others there to reflect your strengths and the impact you make in the world * Learn how to tolerate and appreciate a growing capacity for vulnerability with others * Discover defensive patterns that may seem to keep you feeling safe, but are actually pulling you off course from your true longings and needs * Be in a space where differentness is explored as a gateway to intimacy as opposed to separation * Get more in touch with your body and integrate the great knowledge of your head with the rest of you! ***Facilitated by*** Bodymind Counselor, Jeremy Fulwiler, LMSW, ACCEP, CTS, who has an extensive history as a body psychotherapist treating trauma, mood, and more. These groups are not "therapy," however, but an opening to your individual and collective potential. **Group costs** range from $100 (Outdoor Core) to $120/month (Core Energetics Process Groups), which covers two sessions/month. A sliding scale is available where needed. Three-month (six session) initial commitment for new members helps maintain continuity and safety for all. The groups runs indefinitely with a maximum size of 12 members. More info at [www.wellnessbeyondwords.com](www.wellnessbeyondwords.com).

Women bonded together by challenging themselves in the outdoors. Women who naturally encouraged one another and connected right away. Women who live to LIVE.     🦸‍♀️ The friendships are REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The vulnerability on the trails is REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The empowerment is REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The personal growth is REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The cuss words, inside jokes, and SHE-naningans are REAL.     And we’ve been doing it since 2014! That year, Explorer Chick founder, Nicki Bruckmann was a wife, cat mom and home owner who worked full-time in corporate finance. Instead of feeling fulfilled by ticking all the boxes, she found herself feeling stifled. She made the choice to break away from it all and step out of that life. To figure things out, she needed a vacation reset. But not just any vacation. She wanted something that would feed her adventurous soul and push boundaries. But the thing about divorce? You lose that built-in travel buddy. Believing that other women must also be in the same situation; craving adventure and travel and not wanting to do it all alone, she launched Explorer Chick! [Check out the whole story here](https://explorerchick.com/about/the-explorer-chick-story/#:~:text=The%20Explorer%20Chick%20Story%20In%20a%20former%20life%2C,buy%20homes%20from%20the%20Sears%20catalog%21%29%20in%20Cincinnati.). Launching in 2015, Explorer Chick ran one trip with three bold ladies looking for adventure. From there, this amazing community of women continues to grow, and in 2022 more than 1100 women traveled with us on 133 trips over 5 continents!    Whether you arrive as a solo traveler or with several of your closest gal pals, you’ll be greeted by a group of like-minded women travelers of all ages who love to go hiking, camping, rafting, backpacking, canyoning, surfing, kayaking, climbing and more. Basically, we’re all in on anything that gets us outdoors and active!   We travel the US National Parks and bucket list destinations like Iceland, Jordan, Galapagos, Croatia, Uganda and so many more.   The best part? You are taken care of by Explorer Chick’s professional, certified guides. They handle all the details: from food to accommodations to gear and extra words of encouragement when you need them the most.
