Whether you are a beginner or experienced wilderness enthusiast, you will find workshops, activities, and trips for all skill levels and many different interests including--but certainly not limited to!--backpacking, day hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, paddling, orienteering, wildflower and tree identification, whitewater rafting, and geocaching. Solar Outdoors members can also borrow gear from our store of packs, sleeping bags and pads, stoves, and other outdoor equipment for an annual member fee of $35. To learn more about Solar Outdoors and its activities we encourage you to visit our website, [www.solaroutdoors.org](http://www.solaroutdoors.org/). There you will find a calendar of upcoming workshops and events. These sources give more information about who we are, what we do, and how we do it. We also welcome anyone interested in the club to attend our monthly meetings, held at **St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 27475 Five Mile Road, just west of Inkster Road, in Livonia** on the last Tuesday of every month (except December) at 7 pm. SOLAR is not affiliated with St. Paul's or any other religious institution.  Directions are available here: [http://solaroutdoors.com/solarmeetings.html](http://solaroutdoors.org/About/Meetings.aspx).  The business meeting is followed by a program on a topic of general interest to our members. Solar Outdoors uses Meetup as a tool of convenience for our members to quickly get information about upcoming classes and activities and to sign up and pay for these events online. That's why our Meetup group is restricted to paid members of the club and non-members have very limited access. Once you have checked us out online and, we hope, in person by attending one of our monthly meetings, you can decide if becoming a member is right for you. If so, you can join the club by downloading the membership form ([http://solaroutdoors.com/downloads/S.O.L.A....](http://solaroutdoors.com/downloads/S.O.L.A.R_Membership_Application.pdf)), filling it out, and either submitting it with a check for the dues payment at one of the meetings or mailing both to the address listed on the bottom of the membership form. Once you are a club member you will have access to this Meetup group. Thank you for your interest in Solar Outdoors. We hope to meet you soon.

Southfield Embodied Process Groups: Indoor & Outdoor Options

Southfield, MI

Southfield Embodied Process Groups: Indoor & Outdoor Options
***Hello and welcome to your Wellness Beyond Words!*** When someone joins a process group, they become part of a conscious constellation with others, and the breadth of their life expands.   Group work holds deep potential for you to discover your own and other people’s infinity – and the extraordinary experience of being revealed together. **There may be nothing more needed in our world today.**   I facilitate several different ongoing, committed process groups. (One always meets outdoors, and the other three meet indoors, at the beautiful Evans Creek Lodge on the Rouge River.) The growth, bravery, safety and love that develops in these groups continue to mystify me. **Group members learn to be present with evermore of their most loving, wild, relational and authentic selves.** Together, they reclaim, nourish and strengthen. These experiences reach throughout group members’ lives and even seem to reach through time as well, healing old wounds, and pave the way for future successes. ***What happens in a group?*** Many different things, for sure. But we often first settle into ourselves and the session with various forms of warming up, then check in with each other, which leads us to explore and support the needs and longings that are currently present. This generally involves some degree of revealing, moving, laughing, and learning, while feeling more seen and less alone. We close as a circle and return a couple weeks later to find our flow again. Somehow, over time, a kind of alchemy develops. And lives change.   ***Through group process you will also be able to…*** * Clarify your boundaries, wants and needs with others * Experience an extraordinary amount of group energy to help lift you beyond your current limits, in the timing that is compassionately attuned to your own growth * Have others there to reflect your strengths and the impact you make in the world * Learn how to tolerate and appreciate a growing capacity for vulnerability with others * Discover defensive patterns that may seem to keep you feeling safe, but are actually pulling you off course from your true longings and needs * Be in a space where differentness is explored as a gateway to intimacy as opposed to separation * Get more in touch with your body and integrate the great knowledge of your head with the rest of you! ***Facilitated by*** Bodymind Counselor, Jeremy Fulwiler, LMSW, ACCEP, CTS, who has an extensive history as a body psychotherapist treating trauma, mood, and more. These groups are not "therapy," however, but an opening to your individual and collective potential. **Group costs** range from $100 (Outdoor Core) to $120/month (Core Energetics Process Groups), which covers two sessions/month. A sliding scale is available where needed. Three-month (six session) initial commitment for new members helps maintain continuity and safety for all. The groups runs indefinitely with a maximum size of 12 members. More info at [www.wellnessbeyondwords.com](www.wellnessbeyondwords.com).

BS Hiking - A Singles Hiking Group

Northville, MI

BS Hiking - A Singles Hiking Group
**BS Hiking is a Singles Hiking Group** for men and women, ages 20s on to 70s. BS Hiking targets the S/E Michigan area and provides an on-line forum for singles who are interested in hiking and other outdoor activities such as biking, kayaking along with social events. **WHAT WE DO:** Our goal is to offer at least one event every weekend. We schedule hikes at local venues, usually 5-7 miles. Hikes generally last about 2 hours. We schedule our signature morning hikes at Maybury State Park on most Sundays. Dates, times and locations for additional hikes vary. We are dog and kid friendly. **WHAT TO BRING:** Most of the trails/hikes are relatively easy BUT... everyone should wear appropriate shoes, i.e.,. hiking boots, hiking sneakers, etc. Waterproof, sturdy footwear is best, and shoe grippers are recommended in winter for better traction, especially on ice. Wear appropriate clothing. Hikes are not usually canceled even if it is raining, snowing, blistering heat, cold, etc. We recommend bringing water (at least 16 oz) to avoid dehydration. After hiking, we often get together at a local restaurant. **SPAMMERS BEWARE:** If you join just to sell or advertise products, or for any other reason that is clearly not this group's purpose, your message(s) will be removed and your membership terminated. The other 99% of you: Welcome! **DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY:** [https://www.meetup.com/bshiking/messages/boards/thread/46897212#124842242](https://www.meetup.com/bshiking/messages/boards/thread/46897212#124842242)

Metro Detroit Recreational Outdoor/Indoor Pick-up Basketball

Livonia, MI

Metro Detroit Recreational Outdoor/Indoor Pick-up Basketball
**Metro-Detroit Recreational Outdoor Pick-up (M-DROP) Basketball**:  This group is for anyone interested in some clean, fun, recreational outdoor (and indoor) pick-up basketball in the Metro Detroit Area. It was started out of a desire to see some organized pick-up basketball in the Metro Detroit Area that didn't require any membership/rental fees for indoor gyms (especially during the Spring/Summer/Fall time when the weather is nice enough to play outside on Free Public Courts. This group is open to all, so "Youngbloods" and "Oldtimers" are equally welcomed. We are open to all skill levels (provided you either already know or can quickly pick up on rules of the game). The one thing requested is that people be respectable and respectful! This group is meant to be a fun way for folks to get some moderate intensity outdoor cardio in on the weekends without having to sign up for gym memberships or set up rec-league teams. **Basic Ground Rules (The following rules all fall under the Motto of "*Be respectful*")**: •  Please refrain from showboating or trash talking; as mentioned earlier, this is meant to be a just-for-fun group and we don't want to incite any brawls. • Physical play is acceptable to a limit: NO Hard/Dirty Fouls!!! We don't want people injuring themselves and having to miss work or school. • We will also be playing on public outdoor courts for the most part, so players should be respectful to the public hoops and nets; please refrain from hanging on rims or pulling on nets. We play outdoors in the Spring/Summer/Fall on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12 noon. Games are scheduled at alternating courts in the Metro Detroit Area, such as at ITC Sports Park in Northville/Novi, Harding Park in Ferndale, Lawson Park in Royal Oak Park, Griffin Park in Canton, Corrado Park in Westland, various courts in Detroit, and more. Winter games on Saturday are at a gym in Livonia. Weekday games are on Wednesdays or Thursdays, typically from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and are usually played at a gym in Dearborn. Most all games are 5 v 5 full court (unless fewer than 10 players show up, which is very rare). Games are relatively short timewise, so awaiting players can quickly rotate into the next game. \- Tim \(Organizer\)

Tri-County Photography

Farmington, MI

Tri-County Photography

Tri-County Meetups’ mission is to provide both an excellent shooting experience combined with an excellent learning experience to enable attendees to become a self-sufficient independent photographer. We are unique as compared to most meetup groups that the instructor is actively working with the students individually and collectively; looking at the students playback and histograms to insure success from both an exposure, but also a compositional and design aspect. Attending a Tri-County Meetup event you can be assured that the instructor does not just point at the subject and announce “There it is; start shooting and I will return in three hours.” Students do not have to compete with the Tri-County Instructor for shooting from the best place or time. All priorities are given to the student. Our master photography instructors seldom shoots any photos. If the instructor does shoot, it is usually to provide a better teaching situation for the student to review a composition in the playback of the camera that the student may not have understood.  Our meetups help build a stronger portfolio for both the beginner or the professional. We encourage the asking of questions and because we specialize in small size groups, the mandate of one-on-one assistance is easily accomplished.

We have state of the art studio facilities and offer group shoots on location and outdoors as the season permits. We also offer meet-ups with open computer time to edit and print your best images. Critique sessions or portfolio reviews are offered usually on the second Friday night of every other month co-Sponsored by Midwest Photography Workshops.
