New Group

Hikers n’ Hounds

Saint Charles, MO

Hikers n’ Hounds
Do you enjoy hiking with your friendly dog and want to hike with others? Come join the group! Originally started in Virginia this group has now moved to St.Charles and its surrounding areas. We hike on weather permitting weekends to all sorts of local parks! Due to the organizer's (me) work schedule hikes will only be scheduled on saturdays/sundays and holidays weather permitting. Each event will list a location, a precise meetup spot (i.e-parking lot by the pavillion etc etc), predicted weather and any other pertinent information. Hikes will almost always be more casual and less than 10 miles (often likely less than 5). \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- To note: -hike at your own risk. I have a standard wilderness first aid certification and will have basic medical supplies on hand. However outdoor activities can come with inherent risks as all activities do. I will always do my best to ensure participant safety but the only one who knows yourself and your health status is you. For all hikes/walks I recommend sturdy close toed shoes, sufficient water, and bug spray. -Leashed dogs only please! And I ask all participants to please respect the parks and pick up after your dogs. Leave only footprints and take only pictures. Lets keep our St. Louis parks beautiful. -Dogs will be in close proximity to one another on hikes and may come into contact. So please only bring along friendly dogs. -I do not pass participant info along as a general rule. If you want to get in contact with another group member it is your responsibility to do so as I will not facilitate contact between group members.

Walking Workout and Activity Meetup Group

Saint Louis, MO

Walking Workout and Activity Meetup Group
Join us for a walk on Tuesday and Saturday mornings! Check calendar for times and locations. To keep things interesting I will plan hikes in a number of parks in St Louis and St Charles. We will also do walks in various urban areas. I'll try and plan some of the events around other activities that are taking place in our area. After the walks, we usually meet at a restaurant nearby or have a picnic to socialize for a while. All hikers/walkers should be at least 18 years old. Due to some past experiences, dogs are not allowed. **OUR WALKS/HIKES ARE USUALLY BETWEEN 3 AND 4 MILES AND WHILE WE ARE NOT POWER WALKERS, WE USUALLY WALK AT A QUICK PACE. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO WALK 3 1/2 MILES IN ABOUT 80 TO 90 MINUTES.** If you have any ideas send me an email and let us know. What to bring: I have been leading walks since 2008 and so far, there have not been any medium or major accidents or medical emergencies. When I first started leading, I had a clipboard, and everyone had to write down their name and emergence information before the walk started and I would tear up the paper when the walk was over. After a while I stopped doing this. I know a lot of you don’t like to carry things on the walk, but I would like everyone to start carrying the following information: Name and address The name and phone number of your emergency contact person Insurance card You can put it in you pocket, or a fanny pack or a wrist pouch. This well help should we have a medical emergency on the walk. \- WATER – THIS IS IMPORTANT ALL YEAR LONG AND ESPECIALLY IN THE WARMER MONTHS\. WE WILL USUALLY BE OUT FOR AT LEAST 1 ½ HOURS AND THAT IS TOO LONG TO GO WITHOUT REPLENISHING THE LIQUIDS THAT YOU WILL BE BURNING WHILE WALKING\. – AVOID DRINKING CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES BEFORE WALKING\. THE ARE A LOT OF GOOD ARTICLES ABOUT “effects of caffeine and exercise” ON THE INTERNET OR ASK YOU DOCTOR\. \- Dress in layers \(not sure what the weather will do\)\. The top couple of layers should be easily unbuttoned or unzipped to allow easy ventilation\. Wear a hat\. \- I recommend broken in hiking shoes over Tennis shoes\. A lot of the trails are over loose gravel and dirt and the treads on the hiking boots work much better\. \- Snacks – EAT LIGHTLY BEFORE THE WALK AND BRING A POWER BAR OR SNACK TO MUNCH ON DURING THE WALK\. If the weather is bad, I'll try to cancel the event at least 2 hours before it starts. If you would like my cell phone number send me an email. Meetup Donation: Meetup charges me $89 every six months to have the Walking site. If you would like to donate $1 at some of the walks, it will be appreciated. Greg Kluempers

St. Louis Young Professionals

Saint Louis, MO

St. Louis Young Professionals
This meetup group is for "St. Louis Young Professionals" who are looking for a group that does more than just strictly conventional “networking”. We operate as a social and happy hour group for singles and couples in their 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, and older, who are interested in getting out and about to explore what St. Louis has to offer, meet like-minded people, and make new friends.  Through those connections, you might get some “networking”, but the main goal is to have fun and relax from the busy workdays we all trudge through each day! We try our best to have a mix of events like bar trivia, visiting museums and parks, dining out at local restaurants, attending happy hours and bar crawls, board gaming, dancing, concerts, karaoke, outdoor activities like hiking, biking and pickup sports, road trips (especially to wineries), and other local activities.  If you have an activity of interest, we can make it an event! This group is for single people, married people, new-in-towners, transplants, and people who have been in the Saint Louis area for a while and are simply looking for a new group to go out with.  If you are ready to relax, have some fun, and maybe get out of your comfort zone to try new activities, then you will fit in quite well! This group is not for people who take themselves or life too seriously. However we are serious about NO SHOWs. If you RSVP for an event and cannot make it, please change your RSVP. You might lose your membership if you are a NO SHOW to 2-3 events. Thank you, Jason Lodygowski

Sierra Club Eastern Missouri Group Outings and Activities

Saint Louis, MO

Sierra Club Eastern Missouri Group Outings and Activities

The Sierra Club is the largest and oldest environmental organization in the United States.  The Eastern Missouri Group both conducts outings to explore and enjoy the outdoors and we work to ensure a clean and healthy environment and a livable climate for all people.  This group is open to anyone who shares these interests and goals. Our outings include day hikes, camping, biking, canoe or kayak excursions, trail maintenance, and stream cleanups including Operation Clean Stream.  Our ICO (Inspiring Connection Outdoors) program gives underserved populations the opportunity to get out into nature, learn new skills, and have fun in a safe setting with experienced adult mentors.

We have monthly evening programs at our office in Maplewood which typically have a speaker on some environmental topic and gives members the chance to meet and interact with other Sierrans.  The topics range from snakes to stars, from wildlife to wildflowers.  There are also announcements of upcoming events, including the chance to squeeze lemons and sell lemonade at our fun lemonade fundraising events.

On our outings, we request a donation of $1.00 per person to help support our programs.  Firearms are not allowed on outings.  Pets are not allowed on outings unless announcement specifically states that the outing is pet friendly.  All Participants must sign a liability release.  Our Outing Leaders are trained volunteers with First Aid training.  Outings officially start at the trailhead or river access.  Carpooling is encouraged but not the responsibility of the Leader.  For more general information please contact Jim Rhodes at jarhodes@sbcglobal.net.  All are encouraged to check for recent outing additions on our EMG website,  http://www.sierraclub.org/missouri/eastern-missouri.

DatingSTL - 30's, 40's and 50's

Saint Louis, MO

DatingSTL - 30's, 40's and 50's
Meetup Groups are amazing for getting together like-minded individuals for exploring activities that they may have in common together. However, dating is usually not one of them. And in some of the single's groups, one can never be sure who is single and who it not single. Plus, the age ranges were also challenging and the women to men ratio varied widely. Thus, I wanted to start this meet up for those who REALLY REALLY want to date. Like casually or looking for the one, whatever it may be, there is a ton of fun activities to explore in the St. Louis area, so let's get out and explore them with individuals who are looking for that chemistry and connection. This group is focused on anyone who wants to date, and who is in their 30's, 40's, or 50's. It seems once you leave your 20's, the opportunity to meet someone drops and we end up with a lot of married couples' events!! We will do an array of activities, depending on the size of the groups. Happy hours, a different twist on a speed dating type activity, hikes, escape rooms, zip lining, etc. Event pictures may be posted on Meetup app. Please note, if you join, it is best to attend events, as really otherwise, having 1,000 members and only 30 active is not really very useful to achieve the goal of trying to meet someone to date!! Also, we adhere to a strict policy in the group of not messaging anyone in the group until you have met them face to face. This is for safety reasons, so please respect this policy.
