Rockingham Outdoors and More...
Hi all! My intention is for this to be a very friendly group of people (at least nearing 40 if not over) who love to do local things outdoors and fun activities indoors. I've lived in this county for the better part of 20 years and am finding there's lots to EXPLORE right here! Hiking the White Mountains is great, but this group will provide many options closer to home for outdoor fun. We'll have occasional distant excursions as well though. During the colder months, we'll do lots of active indoor activities too! Bring your sense of adventure as this will be MY first time doing some of these walks/hikes!  And since I have a deep intellectual side, I'd also like to plan some discussions on topics of interest like or maybe even have guest speakers... A note on the current state of meetup affairs as it compares to R.O.A.M.:  Because I'm concerned about the impact on the environment of bringing a huge group of people on a nature trail and because I feel huge groups negatively impact the experience of others who are trying to enjoy the beauty and quiet of the outdoors, our groups are limited to 20-25 people.  While Mountain National Forest Rules recommend all groups be limited to 10 people and and require the limitation in designated "wilderness" areas. We also will never charge annual dues or membership fees, claiming that it helps with the cost of running a meetup group (seriously...collecting a $15 annual fee from thousands of members is a money making venture, not a group of friends getting together).  This groups operates in the original spirit of meetup. We do this because we love to and want to share it! Please join if Rockingham County destinations are convenient for you, you love friendly people and you love to have fun!

Concord / Plymouth / Laconia NH Social Meetup Group

Tilton, NH

Concord / Plymouth / Laconia NH Social Meetup Group

This group was created to enjoy social activities for Central New Hampshire residents (including the Concord, NH and Laconia / Plymouth, NH areas) to come together, relax and socialize through various meetup events.  Suggested social meetups can take place anywhere in the Central New Hampshire region (mostly in the Concord, NH area and Plymouth/Laconia, NH area). This group is for people who like music, food, movies, playing pool, checking out museums and plays, doing walks, Trivia nights, bowling, kayaking and any other social activity the group is interested in. The ideas for this group's meetups will come from its members as well as myself. Send me ideas or just post them in the comments and let the socializing commence !  (There is no membership fee)  This group is open to couples AND also singles (including separated people) over the age of 21.   You must live in NH and be a year round resident.

This is not a singles group!     If you join to contact members to get dates, you will be disappointed and possibly removed from the group if it causes a problem or there is a complaint.

Because of an incident which occurred that involved the safety of a woman attending one of our events, we now perform background checks of applicants to try to protect members from harmful elements of society.   The background check findings are not made public and is not available on the website and is not available to other members.    We are the only group in NH that does this to my knowledge.  The idea is to decrease the risk of meeting stalkers, abusers, drug users, etc. at a meetup event.     In addition, most of the other Meetup groups allow non-members to view member profile information.......we do not allow it.     We cannot guarantee complete safety, but we do more than other groups do to reduce risk.     You can delete the information you provide when you join by going to your profile on our site and deleting the information (edit function).

We are very diverse in our views and expect members to be respectful and kind to each other.     You will get out of it what you are willing to put into it.     So, if you are a fun person and have a sense of humor, come join us and have some laughs.

Facial photos need to be posted since we are a new group and we need to be able to recognize members when arriving at events, as well as, some events will be held at homes.     A photo showing your entire face is required or your membership will not be approved.

When you participate in any Meetup activities (especially outdoor / indoor sport type of activities such as hiking, kayaking, tennis, riding bikes, etc.), there are certain risks associated with it.   So please read the below information carefully. If you agree with it, you can join our group's activities.

     A.   The organizers of this meetup are volunteers;  you release and hold harmless the leader(s) and all members of this group from any and all claims for property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death - including those caused by negligence and/or other reasons.

     B.    As a condition of your voluntary participation in these activities you acknowledge and agree to the following: these activities may involve inherent risks that can cause property damage, injury, illness, disability, and/or death to participants and/or others; you assume all risk associated with this activity; you are responsible for having the necessary knowledge, skills, abilities, clothing, and equipment to safely participate in any of the activities.

      C.    You agree not to be drinking alcohol before or during sporting type activities.

      D.     Liability Release - Agreed to by attending a Meetup - AS A CONDITION OF ATTENDING ANY MEETUP, YOU AGREE TO hold harmless, and indemnify the organizer and her heirs, and all members and participants of this Meetup group from any and all claims for injury, illness, death, and/or property damage including those caused by negligence, ignorance, inexperience and other reasons.    You also agree to assume all mental, physical, financial, and/or other risk associated with this meetup.   All meetup activities pose inherent risks and dangers. Participation in these activities is voluntary and dependent upon your own personal judgment.

Stocks, Bonds, Etc. Macro-Financial Issues Discussion Group

Tilton, NH

Stocks, Bonds, Etc. Macro-Financial Issues Discussion Group
"Something wicked this way comes." -- Macbeth, Act 4, Scene 1. Note --- First, we have ceased the making of macro-financial videos (as described below) as of May 2023 due to lack of viewing and Second, we are actually fine with the lack of interest at this point as we feel we have met our goal of identifying when we are getting close to a recession / fiscal crisis and have given advice on how to prepare. We are getting close to a recession --- we do not expect it to be mild.    It may start that way, but we don't expect it to finish that way.      In the event the FED / Govt. issues a lot of money to stop the recession, then after a lag time expect higher inflation and currency issues if the interest on the debt exceeds $ one trillion dollars.    If they start adding the debt interest to the debt, expect compound interest to work wonders on exploding the debt. So, for the time being we will cease making videos. The website will be kept open for two reasons.     We will periodically have open lunch / dinner gatherings at restaurants which will be announced in advance.    Also, if someone has questions, they can use the website to contact us. We continue to do research as events continue to unfold. Advice --- By now people should own some gold or silver or junk silver just incase things down the road get real bad.      Any significant money in banks should be in a credit union.    Stay away from banks that invest in derivatives or are holding treasuries that were bought when interest rates were low.      if gold initially sinks in price as the recession takes hold, that is a good time to buy more. In the coming recession we expect treasury bonds and the dollar to be safe havens.     Gold / Silver will be as well once the goal risk becomes an issue. Although the Dodd Frank bail-in plan was not used on depositors in the recent bank failings, Uncle Sam will eventually have to use the bail-in plan if too many banks fail down the road.   If they don't, they will devalue the currency even more.    Use a pure broker (such as Interactive Brokers) instead of a stock broker that also acts like a bank (offers checking services) since Dodd Frank bail-in would apply to them as well.    And don't use a broker that invests in derivatives (interactive Brokers does not). Remember the everything bubble failure is most likely going to be a long process that plays out over years, so don't be financially complacent about preparing ahead.    If we follow the 3 phases of inflation that occurred in the 1970's and early 80's, then expect the third phase to be the worse. The FED's plan to raise rates multiple times this year and do Quantitative Tightening at $ 90 billion a month after slow start will create economic stresses resulting in a recession. Expect continued drop in stock market and bond prices over time as a result. If the FED follows the same game plan as Volker in the 1980s to "kill" inflation, expect a major recession.   We have recently seen an increase company announcement of planned layoffs.         Unemployment has inched up again following a pattern that fits an oncoming recession. US banks have a high risk in the derivatives market once again despite Dodd / Frank legislation. Watch for Yield Curve Control --- If it happens, it is a signal that the FED has lost control of bond yields signaling economic stresses with sovereign debt. “What gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so.” -- Mark Twain ( Samuel Langhorne Clemens ). Also -- "If you don't have an umbrella when it starts raining, it's too late. " Lance Roberts article. If you are new to investing/trading, you are still welcome to join the group to learn on the macro-financial level. Because I believe that the next market reset is nearing, there is not enough time left for a beginner or novice to learn what they need to know to properly protect their financial assets. For those of you in this category or feel they don't have the time to stay on top of the markets, I would recommend looking into New Harbor Financial Group to manage and minimize losses in the next asset market reset. Their website is https://newharborfinancial.com I am also a member of the Concord Stock Investing Meetup Group which discusses specific stocks more than this new group will. This new group will focus more on macro-financial issues affecting the market and monitoring for the anticipated economic / market downturn in the future.   The text below further describes our mission. This macro financial market discussion Meetup group will release a video of it's three founders discussing macro market issues each month. The video will be sent to all members for you to view at your leisure. We will set up a mechanism for members to submit questions before we record and we will try to answer the questions as best we can. Using this format our viewers will get the opinion of three people who independently research macro issues on their own. If any of our members who do their own macro research wish to present material as part of the recordings, please contact us. We plan to discuss macro-financial market issues such as: \- Financial market events\, forces\, anticipated movements\, and the effects on the stock\, bond\, real estate\, precious metals\, cryptocurrency and commodity markets; \- Monitor and discuss economic reports and forecasts; \- US Federal Reserve actions\, as well as\, the actions of the major world central banks; and \- A special aspect of this group will be to monitor for the potential occurrence or avoidance of a future financial crisis; \- What warning signs can we monitor for to warn that a future financial crisis is coming ? What might be it's catalyst ? * Each month we will review macro indicators used for monitoring for the onset of recessions. Examples of issues we plan to discuss over time are: \- How can we preserve / protect our capital? \- How do we make money and not lose money the next 5\-10\-20\-30 yrs? \- How can we maintain the purchasing power of our life savings\, given that we face: \- increasing government debts and worldwide central bank money printing; \- social unrest and political instability; \- co\-existing with China as a global super power; \- economy possibly not getting back to pre\-virus employment levels any time soon; \- future solvency of social security\, medicare\, medicaid\, state and city pensions; \- automation eliminating more jobs; \- economic issues caused by potential significant deflation or inflation\. Other related ideas for discussion can be presented to the group by any member. This is not a doom and gloom group, but fulfills the need to discuss what effects economic / market events are having on our economy and the various financial markets. We are also not a stock picking group or a stock buying strategy group. Our meetings will focus on subjects related to macro-financial market factors. Different views and opinions are welcome. Everyone is encouraged to bring topics for discussion and to lead discussions if they wish. All trading / investment levels welcome --- beginner, intermediate and expert. Meetings will be held the second Thursday of each month. Changes to the schedule will be announced ahead of time. Zoom is the online video conference system we will be using. Zoom has a free membership service. Zoom has a screen share option for presentations. There are no fees associated with this Meetup group. The opinions / forecasts presented in the group meetings are best estimates and should be used with discretion. Thanks for considering us.
