Wild Outdoors Adventures....or WOAH!, is dedicated to exploring and enjoying nature in all its various forms. From epic hikes that involve bouldering/rock scrambling, to battling mighty rapids while whitewater rafting, to rock climbing up inviting formations, to diving under the earth on cool spelunking expeditions, we seek out the majestic while also enjoying the mundane. We also dive into culture, history, and food with friends new and old. From exploring cities on walking tours, to participating in culinary events, gathering to explore cultural festivals and activities, we love learning new things, trying new things, and experiencing new things. This is a group for active people 21 and over who want to do cool stuff with easy going, drama free, mature, and psychologically healthy adults like themselves. The Phoenix Philadelphia is a non-profit organization that builds sober active communities that fuels resilience and harnesses the transformational power of connection so that we rise, recover and live. The Phoenix provides a physically and emotionally supportive community for those in recovery from substance use disorders, process addictions, mental health concerns, supporters, allies, and those who choose to explore a sober life. Through these events and programs, we hope to keep HSG active in the community, to help ensure the continued preservation of these important historic buildings. **Background about the HSG buildings:** **HSG is a Heritage Landmark of The United Methodist Church, a registered site in the National Register of Historic Places, a pending site for National Historic Landmark status and a part of the Independence National Historical Park.** The Historic St. George’s Preservation Society was established in 2013 to preserve, restore and maintain Historic St. George’s United Methodist Church’s buildings, collections and grounds and to perpetuate the interpretation of its unique place in American history. Historic St. George’s United Methodist Church (HSG) is the oldest house of Methodist worship in continuous use in America and its national significance is derived from the many notable developments in early American Methodism that occurred at HSG. It also has significance to the early history of Philadelphia as a place that was connected to many key historical events that took place over the last 250 years. Currently, HSG holds the records of hundreds of closed churches, many which were established in Philadelphia in the 18th and 19th centuries. The HSG archives also contain photographs, letters, journals, vital records and other documents related to early Philadelphia and Eastern Pennsylvania. In the 1920s, the first draft of plans for the Benjamin Franklin Bridge called for the bridge to go through the HSG buildings, as well as St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church across the street. Leaders and members of HSG successfully lobbied for the bridge plans to be altered, and the bridge was then built just 14 feet from the church. These actions by HSG saved not only the HSG buildings, but also St. Augustine's, both of which are now included in the National Register of Historic Places. This Meetup will take place at Guided Labyrinth Walks, Classes, and Events offered by the Labyrinth Committee at the outdoor labyrinth behind the Unitarian Universalist Church in Cherry Hill. We also hold information and art classes, as well as Indoor Winter Walks.
