New Mexico Volunteers for the Outdoors Meetup

Albuquerque, NM

New Mexico Volunteers for the Outdoors Meetup

This Meetup group is sponsored by New Mexico Volunteers for the Outdoors (NMVFO), a service oriented, all volunteer, non-political organization dedicated to improving trails and outdoor facilities throughout the state.

By joining this Meetup group you will be able to volunteer for projects and participate in social events, training opportunities, and other NMVFO activities. (You can also join these activities without joining the Meetup group, by directly visiting nmvfo.org)

Go to www.nmvfo.org/projects for a list of this year's upcoming projects, or the NMVFO Volunteer FAQ page http://nmvfo.org/volunteer/volunteer-faq for more information.  (*You will have to copy/paste any links or email addresses, as you cannot click on addresses from Meetup text.*)

NMVFO has been helping maintain trails and public lands for over 30 years. Work projects range from one day in nearby locations to weekend camping projects or even backpack work trips to pristine wilderness, all over the state. Working with forest rangers and other public lands representatives, NMVFO provides strong leadership, training, tools and meals on projects. Note that a parent or guardian must accompany all minors, and pets are not permitted on any project.

Working in the outdoors, keeping public lands accessible and enjoying the camaraderie of like-minded people are some of the benefits of participation on the NMVFO projects. We have fun and lots of laughter as we learn about trail work and new outdoor places. Above all we feel good about doing satisfying work with worthwhile results.

***In this Meetup it will be extremely important to show up for projects to which you have committed. Advance food is purchased, tools are provided and land management agencies are advised of the number of volunteers for the project. YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO ATTEND. Please adhere to this requirement for work project participation with NMVFO Meetup. (Social events, presentations, trainings and other events will operate like regular Meetup events unless otherwise noted.)***

It is also required that you sign up on the project description page on the NMVFO website as soon as you RSVP for a project on Meetup (you will not be considered a part of the project until you do so). This allows the Project Leader to keep a count of attendees in order to coordinate with land representatives and cooks who buy food on a budget; arrange tools; and to be able  to contact participants in a timely, efficient way.

Since 1982, New Mexico Volunteers for the Outdoors (NMVFO) have been recruiting people like you to volunteer for service projects that benefit trails and other recreational sites in national and state parks, forests, monuments, wilderness areas, city open space areas, and other public lands. The projects scheduled this year help maintain these valuable resources. NMVFO is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer nonprofit organization.

Explorer Chicks of Albuquerque

Explorer Chicks of Albuquerque
Looking for a community of adventure loving, boundary pushing, encouraging women to explore the world with?   You found it!   [Explorer Chick](https://d.docs.live.net/dd21754c8c726806/Documents/www.explorerchick.com) is a 2022 [Travel and Leisure World’s Best Tour Operator](https://www.travelandleisure.com/worlds-best/best-tour-operators-2022) changing the lives of thousands with our supportive community formed organically by the women who have traveled all over the world with us on our small-group adventure travel tours.   What we got here is a happy by-product of Real Women embarking on Real Adventures. Women bonded together by challenging themselves in the outdoors. Women who naturally encouraged one another and connected right away. Women who live to LIVE.     🦸‍♀️ The friendships are REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The vulnerability on the trails is REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The empowerment is REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The personal growth is REAL.   🦸‍♀️ The cuss words, inside jokes, and SHE-naningans are REAL.     And we’ve been doing it since 2014! That year, Explorer Chick founder, Nicki Bruckmann was a wife, cat mom and home owner who worked full-time in corporate finance. Instead of feeling fulfilled by ticking all the boxes, she found herself feeling stifled. She made the choice to break away from it all and step out of that life. To figure things out, she needed a vacation reset. But not just any vacation. She wanted something that would feed her adventurous soul and push boundaries. But the thing about divorce? You lose that built-in travel buddy. Believing that other women must also be in the same situation, she launched Explorer Chick! [Check out the whole story here](https://explorerchick.com/about/the-explorer-chick-story/#:~:text=The%20Explorer%20Chick%20Story%20In%20a%20former%20life%2C,buy%20homes%20from%20the%20Sears%20catalog%21%29%20in%20Cincinnati.). Launching in 2015, Explorer Chick ran one trip with three bold ladies who embarked on that adventure. From there, the sky became the limit, and in 2022 more than 1100 women traveled with us on 133 trips over 5 continents!    Whether you arrive as a solo traveler or with several of your closest gal pals, you’ll be greeted by a group of like-minded women travelers of all ages who love to go hiking, camping, rafting, backpacking, canyoning, surfing, kayaking, climbing and more. Basically, we’re all in on anything that gets us outdoors and active!   We travel the US National Parks and bucket list destinations like Iceland, Jordan, Galapagos, Croatia, Uganda and so many more.   The best part? You are taken care of by Explorer Chick’s professional, certified guides. They handle all the details: from food to accommodations to gear and extra words of encouragement when you need them the most. Leaving you to simply “mindlessly wander”.    “Okay, so how do I join Explorer Chick?”     It’s easy!   We’re not a club. There are no dues. The Continental Divide Trail Angels (Wow We)

Albuquerque, NM

The Continental Divide Trail Angels (Wow We)
**PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE FOLLOWING:** **The purpose of this meet-up is all things Continental Divide Trail.** We run a base camp once a year in the Northern Rio Puerco Basin serving free food to through hikers in May. We have also adopted two trail sections along the Continental Divide Trail for yearly maintenance and we will travel to do trail magic to different parts of the state and out-of-state locations. We will also post non-Continental Trail Activities...walks, hikes and campouts and other activities. **Please Note: The Continental Divide Trail Angels site is a tool to bring people of similar interests together. Every member:** · Participates in any activity at his or her own risk. · Is responsible for determining his or her ability to participate in a given activity · Assumes sole and full responsibility for his/her health, safety and physical well being. (The participation of a minor must be approved by the organizer in advance and requires the participation of a parent or legal guardian who will assume sole and full responsibility for the minor’s health, safety and physical well being.) Each organizer reserves the right to decline a member’s participation or to place restrictions on participation. **Concerning membership:** We do audit our membership on a monthly basis. If a person has not viewed our website within a year, the member will be removed for non-participation. A member may also be removed by an organizer based upon conduct inconsistent with the reasonable expectations of The Continental Divide Trail Angels. Be nice to others. The Continental Divide Trail Angels does reserve the right to determine our membership. Basic Tips for a Successful Trail Angel experience: 1. Be respectful of your activity leader and other participants, follow the trip leader’s direction and do not venture out on your own 2. Participate in all activities in a friendly and positive manner 3. Manage your posts (sign-ups): If you have posted onto an activity, you are expected to post out at least 48 hours before the activity in order to allow those on the waitlist to participate. Shorter notice may be excused based upon extenuating circumstances. 4. No religious or political discussions in the carpool or on the trail or on an activity. You may find this hard to believe but not everyone thinks the way you do. Disregarding this rule is likely to get you removed from The Continental Trail Angels. People do not participate in this meet-up to hear someone's political or religious drivel.
