Reno/Sparks Singles and/or Diners and Activities Group

Sun Valley, NV

Reno/Sparks Singles and/or Diners and Activities Group
Do you love dining out, but either don't much like to eat by yourselves or would like more company once in a while? Whether attached or single, trying new restaurants and other venues around town can be challenging. Why not go with others? Join us as we explore the many restaurants, pubs, fun spots and activities of the Reno/Sparks area. From hole-in-the-wall joints to fine dining, we do it all. This is a group for both attached couples or singles who want to make friends and enjoy the local dining scene, festivals, food tastings, and more. There will also be many Happy Hour events, and other local, general events designed to relax, enjoy, mix and mingle! Have suggestions for places or venues for us to try? Send me a message and let’s get it on the calendar. Types of Meetups: • Ethnic Eats • White Tablecloth • Food Events and Festivals • Happy Hour • Beer or Wine Dinners or Tastings • Pot Lucks • And many more social activities than food or cocktails alone. Rules (sort of): (1) Reserving space, fees, planning, posting and corresponding all take time. I do this, and the expenses thereof, for the group as mostly a volunteer. ***Please pay your initial annual dues ($9) promptly, either cash, Zelle or online, absolutely within the 14-day trial period, and PLEASE renew responsibly! Thanks, I would rather spend my "hobby" time posting event ideas and enjoying them with y'all, than tracking down the MANY frequent delinquencies.*** (2) Please respect your fellow group members, and me, and use the RSVP function to accurately represent your attendance. If you have a genuine last-minute emergency cancellation, change your Rsvp, post a comment, message me, or if you text, that also. *After 3 no-shows with no communication before or after, you may be removed from the group.* (3) Please respect that this is NOT a hook-up group. That said, it is entirely possible, if you're unattached, that you may meet someone in the group-**-in person**--that you wish to date. And, this group also has many attached couples. Remember to be respectful of each other and the group. That way all can continue to join us safely and comfortably. I ***will*** report all hasslers and "blind" solicitors to Meetup HQ for immediate removal. (4) Failure to cover your tab at any event may subject you to removal, unless genuinely accidental, as we've experienced that before!! It is important that we respect each other; and that means not stiffing anyone, including our Leaders, with a bill that is not theirs. (5) Empty chairs are sadness for both staff and fellow members, so members are required to honor their RSVPs, and especially for fine dining and crowded venues! ***Except for a genuine last-day emergency ( such as the c-p issues your hard-working event-planner had recently) or similar urgency, if members must cancel, they should do so at least 24 hours before the start of an event,*** so that people on the waitlist can be notified and reservations can be corrected. This is a Required courtesy towards your fellow members, the venue, and Leadership. ***Those who repeatedly cancel less than 24 hours before events, without explained urgency, will be removed from the Group. There are many Groups out there, please respect not only ours, but theirs too!!***

Reno-Tahoe Adventures

Reno, NV

Reno-Tahoe Adventures
This group exists to meet and share the wilderness experience with other outdoor enthusiasts. Anyone interested in hiking, backpacking, camping, snowshoeing, winter back-country exploration, winter camping, mountaineering, rock climbing, bouldering, or learning new skills, will find a home here of like-minded individuals. Activities are organized as appropriate for either all levels, intermediate, or advanced. Certain events have a higher risk level than others so in order to stay safe, it's important to know your limits. Events requiring specialized gear and/or skill sets are always noted. Also, one should always be willing to learn as well as sharing your skills and knowledge with others. Its' been my experience that when people have fun together outdoors there is a mutual respect that gets earned regardless of differences, so please support one another to make everyone feel welcome and have fun together. Remember, kindness is the only language everyone can understand, so let's communicate with each other in that way. When we are in nature, we always try to take care of her, so it is standard procedure to pack out everything we pack in. That, and an awareness of leaving a location in better condition than we found it, is always our goal, so let's take the opportunity to do so. If you have an advanced skill in any particular outdoor activity and are interested in teaching or leading the group in an adventure, please let us know. And, if there is an event that you would like to see happen, by all means suggest it. If attending a meetup that requires gear, you will have to provide your own, however, resources are available for the asking allowing one to borrow or rent most items. Look forward to some adventures and hangin out in the wilderness together! Best Regards, Elcap

Sierra Club Hiking-Reno

Reno, NV

Sierra Club Hiking-Reno
Friends and members of the Sierra Club, We have resumed offering hiking outings as of March 2022. Obviously our and the National Club's priority is your and your family's safety, as well as fulfilling our mission to get people outdoors! General Information About the Sierra Club and the local Great Basin group Outings Thank you for choosing to join us on one of our outings - a 100+ year tradition of the Sierra Club! For many decades, volunteers of our local group, the Great Basin Group, have lead outings throughout the region. Areas of the region include the greater Reno area, the Sierra Nevada mountains, and the vast interior of the state of Nevada. We are not "just another Meetup group". The Sierra Club has been in existence for over 125 years. Our mission is to "Explore, enjoy, and protect the planet". Our volunteer outings leaders will, at a minimum, have basic first aid training and go through a mentoring process with veteran outings leaders before becoming outings leaders themselves. That is the minimum that you can expect. Many of our outings leaders will have decades of experience leading outings in our region and have many wonderful outdoor secrets to share with you! Almost all trips posted on this website are Sierra Club outings - all participants must sign a **[Sierra Club Sign-in Sheet and Liability Waiver](https://www.sierraclub.org/sites/www.sierraclub.org/files/sce/great-basin-group/SierraClubSigninSheetandLiabilityWaiver_june2010.PDF)** at the trailhead before we begin each outing. If you have any question about the difficulty of the outing and whether you have the appropriate fitness, and/or equipment to participate, contact the outing leader before the day of the outing. During the outing, expect to remain with the outings leader during the entire outing, unless there is a co-leader (this is for safety and liability reasons). If you plan on bringing a dog, please ask the outing leader of the trip for permission and special instructions before the day of the outing. You do not have to be a Sierra Club member to participate in our outings.  All participants will be asked to donate $1 to the Sierra Club Great Basin Group every time they join us for an outing to fund our outings leader training programs. Find more Great Basin Group outings here: [http://www.sierraclub.org/toiyabe/great-basin/outings-and-events](http://www.sierraclub.org/toiyabe/great-basin/outings-and-events) Join us on facebook here: [http://www.facebook.com/groups/scgbg/](http://www.facebook.com/groups/scgbg/) Learn more about the Great Basin Group here: [http://www.sierraclub.org/toiyabe/great-basin](http://www.sierraclub.org/toiyabe/great-basin) Join the Sierra Club here (when you see the opportunity, enter our group code "1401"): [http://www.sierraclub.org/](http://www.sierraclub.org/) If you are interested in becoming an outings leader for the Great Basin Group, contact me at:  jarrettrl02@gmail.com Hopefully, we will meet out on the trail soon! Northern Nevada Women Campers

Reno, NV

Northern Nevada Women Campers
This is a group for women interested in camping in Northern Nevada and Northern California. All camping experience levels welcome. Women of all ages are welcome. Transwomen are welcome (transgender individuals that are process of transiting to a woman). Please note, that I may reference 'women' or 'female', in other locations on this Meetup, but by default Transwomen are always included and welcome. I started this group so women can enjoy a quick outdoor camping trip together. Most camping trips I plan will be short weekend getaways (leave Friday and get back on Sunday). Longer camping trips are definitely possible - if someone wants to coordinate them. DOGS Considering the many complaints that I had received about specific dog's aggressive or disruptive behavior, in the future if I have not met a dog, I will need to meet them prior to them attending a trip. If meeting prior to the trip is not possible, you can come with your dog, but please note that if your dog barks non-stop, bites, or shows other problematic behavior you will be asked to leave the camping trip immediately and the dog will not be permitted on future trips. Please note, that most campgrounds, trails, etc., require that dogs be on a leash at all times. You will be responsible for cleaning up after your dog. CAMPING FEES I will divide the camping site fee evenly among the number of women that can attend, a camper will be charged this fee. Camping fees are non-refundable after registration closes for a camping trip or for no-shows. Camping Fees can be paid via Venmo, Square, or Zelle and are due by the payment due date listed on the event. You can also pay in cash prior to the RSVP date at another event. If payment is not made by this date, your RSVP will be canceled. PLUS ONES This group is for women (or trans women) campers. All guests need to be women (or trans women) over the age of 18. We will occasionally have events that will be open to significant others or family members that will allow men and/or children, but these events will be more sparse and the event details will clearly indicate that men and/or children will be allowed. For our normal camping trips please only invite adult women. CAMPING TRIP SUGGESTIONS OR PLANNING A TRIP As mentioned above, I will book the camping sites months in advance. If you have a campground you would like to camp at or any camping ideas, please email me them a few weeks prior. If you want to plan a camping trip and have it posted on this site, please feel free to book and message me the details. I will create the event and add you as the event leader. NO SHOWS AND RESERVING Please only RSVP to a camping event if you are staying at the Meetup’s Campsite. Space is very limited, so please be respectful and only RSVP if you are certain you are coming and you are staying with our campsite. If you RSVP to an event, just to cancel after the event RSVP closing date, and/or do not show up to an event more than 2x you will be removed from the group. Please note, that I will make exceptions for critical emergencies e.g. sick family member, funeral, etc… If you are removed from the group, your annual fee or camping fees will not be returned to you. **MUSIC** – please bring headsets for music. Not everyone wants to listen to your music over a Bluetooth Speaker. However, if you are on a camping trip and no one has an objection to the music playing over a speaker you are free to play it. However, please ask first. OTHER DETAILS If you choose to attend one of the groups camping events, please note that the daily schedule is up to you. Once we arrive at the campsite, we can spend the day together, divide up in groups based on activity preferences, or go off and do our own thing and meetup for sitting around the campfire before retiring. How we choose to spend the camping trips should be enjoyable! Lastly, you are responsible for bringing your supplies, food, etc. Bringing firewood would be appreciated. If anyone wants to help manage this group and / or add their own adventures, please message me - I'm all about collaboration and active participation. I truly believe that more people inputting their experiences / plans creates a better overall experience. Disclaimer, if you are participating in any group activities and/or are a member of this group, you understand that camping and outdoor activities are not risk free and relinquish group leaders from all legal liability. Lastly, I expect all members joining any of this group's events to clean up after themselves (leave no trace) and be respectful of all campground, hiking trail, lake, etc.. rules. Other than that, I wish us all happy adventures!
