Ambles, Adventures and the Arts

Somers, NY

Ambles, Adventures and the Arts
Ambles, Adventures and the Arts is a welcoming place to experience and enjoy the visual arts, music (such as Caramoor), nature (including visiting Innisfree Gardens and Open Garden Days), local theater, outdoor physical activities, visiting different points of interest, exploring, and so much more. Our group’s goal is to enjoy all the Hudson Valley has to offer. We are inclusive and welcoming. The power of Meetup is in its mission. After 9/11, Meetup’s founders wanted to create a space for people to come together and support each other by connecting through common interests. At each event we endeavor to make introductions all around and encourage social connection. If you feel excluded or uncomfortable at any of our meetups, please reach out to an organizer so we can help. We all started out as strangers hoping to make new connections. In our Meetup group, your fellow members and especially the organizers want to make sure you feel at ease and included so you can begin to make those connections. Your task is to meet your fellow members halfway and start getting to know them too. As for parameters for participation we see only one as essential: if you can’t make an event, it’s fine, simply communicate with the event host. Three no- shows, without communicating, results in being removed. Marie, Diane and Debbie paid the fees for one year (8/21/24-8/20/25). We are asking Ambles members to contribute $15/year to cover the $360/year Meetup charges. We will be setting up a fundraiser on the Ambles Meetup site.. Our meetup was started by Colleen. Currently Debbie, Diane, Marie and Rosanna - which means there can be more than one meetup on a particular day. Also, if an event is listed as "FYI" either in its title or description it means it is an "unhosted" event - so no one will be organizing the event and if multiple people have signed up you should put a comment in the comment section in order to see when and where you all can meetup! In all events, make sure to read each event description for an event you are interested in to see if it is FYI or hosted. The event descriptions for hosted events have a lot of useful information in the event description. So welcome! Marie, Debbie, Rosanna & Diane P.S. You can message any of us thru our profiles on the meetup site.

Westchester LGBTQ+ Friends

Waccabuc, NY

Westchester LGBTQ+ Friends
We are a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and same-gender loving community interested in group social activities such as bike riding, music events, dog walks, film nights, hikes, food, etc.  The main goal of the group is to develop a culture of fun, adventure, connection and friendships. Come on out…play and create community with us. Important Information and Member Responsibility \~ Please provide your first name and a recognizable photo of yourself in your profile. We want to find each other at events and get to know each other "live and in person". Also adds to the security of the group! \~ I love suggestions, feel free to contact me if you have an idea for a meetup or would like to join the leadership team! \~ Please make these Meetup events a priority, so our group can thrive and grow. If you have 3 no shows you will be removed, so please update your RSVP to NO if you are not able to attend. A “no show” is when you RSVP YES and not show up or not message me (use comment section or private message) to let me know you can’t make it prior to the event starting. It is simple - just be courteous. \~ Keep your membership active by checking out the site periodically. You can also be removed at any point at the organizer’s discretion. Hate or drama will never be tolerated. \~ Participation in any and all events is at your own risk and you acknowledge that some Meetup events carry inherent dangers, such as the risk of illness or injury. By signing up for and participating in these events, you understand and agree that you have freely chosen to assume these risks. Event organizers and those connected to this group may not be held responsible for the safety or well-being of any member, guest or their pets who choose to attend these meetups. \~ I will try my best to go up to all that attend each event and introduce myself, especially with first timers, but don’t be shy if you see me first- come say hi! Looking forward to meeting you all!   \~ Peter - Organizer

Cure for Boredom

Danbury, CT

Cure for Boredom

Cure for Boredom is just what it sounds like. We are about building better times.
People getting up and out and finding new friends and events to enjoy and share. Curing your boredom exploring new horizons.
I was looking to form the perfect group and did but then I joined, and it was not perfect anymore 😉 ha-ha
So here we are looking to make life better by making memories and good friends. YES YOU! You should join and meet new people and find some events or activities that interest you. I hope that this group would have a variety of activities and events. If you join and really like an idea or have a suggestion then that is great and encouraged as any good group is a shared experience and your desire may just be the thing that someone else is looking to try or do.
Some ideas are music venues , hiking , trivia event , bowling , pool parties, Fire Pit nights , skiing , travel and diners , charities, pet friendly, billiards, boating , golf, concerts, comedy nights, biking ,social, health and living, wineries and breweries, kick ball games ………. And many many more. Now all of that may not be posted all the time but as this group grows it should be known that the many interest varieties of the members should be offered and made available.
Life is good and sometimes it could be better to find fun things to do with others. Fun without boarders so that we are not boxed in and you could also expand your boundaries to explore new areas and even meet new people.
Just remember that any group is only as good as its members. So, you are so awesome that I was going to name the group AFTER YOU! 😊 then you could have told everyone that you joined a group that was named “After You” 😉
Cheers!

ASL (American Sign Language) Conversation & Student Support

Bethel, CT

ASL (American Sign Language) Conversation & Student Support
**Are you an ASL student** looking to get more practice signing? This group might be just what you're looking for! **Are you a native ASL signer?** We'd love to have you in the group too! **The General Plan:** 1. I host regular Zoom meetings where you can **practice your conversation skills** with other signers. The majority of attendees will likely be students but there might be native ASL signers as well. 2. If there's interest, I'll plan in person meetings. **What To Expect:** 1. *Lots of small group conversations.* We spend about half of the meeting in **small groups based on ASL level** so that you're with signers who are around the same level as you. You'll have lots of opportunities to participate, practice what you know and learn new things from other members. 2. *Themes, games and activities.* I like to keep things interesting, so **check event details to see what the theme is** for each meeting. I'll also plan games and activities from time to time. **PLEASE NOTE:** 1. **If you are completely new to ASL**, this is probably not the best group for you. There is no official ASL teacher in our group and our meetings aren't classes. 2. If you **know the ASL alphabet and have some basic conversation skills**, you're welcome to join the group and see if you find it helpful. **Who Am I?:** I've been a student of ASL for about 7 years and a student of Spanish since I was in elementary school. I'm a bit obsessed with the process of learning languages. It probably has something to do with the fact that I was a teacher for 15 years. :-) I also have a group for Spanish students. Interested?
