We are a group of Long Islanders and friends who share the passion for trails and nature. We hike, bike and paddle the many trails Long Island has to offer. We explore the Long Island trails and share its beauty through our photos. LITE is an open forum for trail enthusiasts and outdoor groups. Many of us are also members of one or more outdoor organizations or meetups here in Long Island and outside - AMC, ADK, EHTPS, LITLC, LI Greenbelt, NHOC, Sierra Club and others. We connect with other groups and/or excursions here in Long Island and the tri-state areas to participate in their events. **To be accepted as a member of Long Island Trail Enthusiasts, your meetup name must be easily matched to your real name.** It is suggested that you use your first name and last initial unless you have a widely used first name (like Mike or Linda) in which case you should give your first name and the first three characters of your last name.  Certain risks are inherent in any outdoor activities.

Coddiwomple (verb): To travel in a purposeful manner towards a vague destination, taken simply for the pleasure of the journey itself. Hi, I’m York. Just a guy that enjoys being in nature. I’m a bit shy and awkward, so bear with me, lol!!! I love to hike and do it often. This is a SLOW moving group. (Previously named “Healing Hiking in Nature”). This group averages about 2 miles/hour. Sometimes, during the hike, we move faster, but many times we move slower. Most hikes will be about 4 to 5(+) miles and will take about 3-4 hours. We strive to be in no hurry and in a relaxed state of mind and body on our hikes. We will stop during the hike numerous times, simply to enjoy just being there and we will also get in a circle, at some point, and introduce ourselves. We can talk about anything we’d like to talk about. We can recite poems or tell stories or play some music or eat some food that someone has brought! It can be a bit awkward, lol!!! The idea is to just relax and enjoy ourselves, be light hearted and get lost in nature for a few hours ... *Liability Waiver:* *Hiking or outdoor activities have inherent risks. Your participation in our hikes or other events could be dangerous and can result in serious injury, medical emergency, even death. It is your responsibility to learn the trails and to follow the group so you do not get detached from the group. Make yourself aware of your surroundings and trail conditions at all times. Long Island Paddlers (www.lipaddlers.org) exists to share a common love for kayaking, canoeing and the outdoors.  We exchange information on safety, education, paddling experiences and other paddling-related subjects. Join our club to meet fellow paddlers, find places to paddle, and learn how to safely enjoy the waters in and around the Long Island area. Our club is open to all who would like to participate in this sport.  We are active all year, both on the water and at our meetings with various programs and guest speakers.
