Ambles, Adventures and the Arts

Somers, NY

Ambles, Adventures and the Arts
Ambles, Adventures and the Arts is a welcoming place to experience and enjoy the visual arts, music (such as Caramoor), nature (including visiting Innisfree Gardens and Open Garden Days), local theater, outdoor physical activities, visiting different points of interest, exploring, and so much more. Our group’s goal is to enjoy all the Hudson Valley has to offer. We are inclusive and welcoming. The power of Meetup is in its mission. After 9/11, Meetup’s founders wanted to create a space for people to come together and support each other by connecting through common interests. At each event we endeavor to make introductions all around and encourage social connection. If you feel excluded or uncomfortable at any of our meetups, please reach out to an organizer so we can help. We all started out as strangers hoping to make new connections. In our Meetup group, your fellow members and especially the organizers want to make sure you feel at ease and included so you can begin to make those connections. Your task is to meet your fellow members halfway and start getting to know them too. As for parameters for participation we see only one as essential: if you can’t make an event, it’s fine, simply communicate with the event host. Three no- shows, without communicating, results in being removed. Marie, Diane and Debbie paid the fees for one year (8/21/24-8/20/25). We are asking Ambles members to contribute $15/year to cover the $360/year Meetup charges. We will be setting up a fundraiser on the Ambles Meetup site.. Our meetup was started by Colleen. Currently Debbie, Diane, Marie and Rosanna - which means there can be more than one meetup on a particular day. Also, if an event is listed as "FYI" either in its title or description it means it is an "unhosted" event - so no one will be organizing the event and if multiple people have signed up you should put a comment in the comment section in order to see when and where you all can meetup! In all events, make sure to read each event description for an event you are interested in to see if it is FYI or hosted. The event descriptions for hosted events have a lot of useful information in the event description. So welcome! Marie, Debbie, Rosanna & Diane P.S. You can message any of us thru our profiles on the meetup site.

Hudson Valley Forest Therapy / Forest Bathing / Hiking

Cold Spring, NY

Hudson Valley Forest Therapy / Forest Bathing / Hiking

This is a group for anyone who wants to spend some time away from the many distractions and stresses in life. It is a time to turn off the phones and enjoy the present moment in the woods with no objective other than to allow ourselves that moment of self-care. Hikes will vary from easy to intense to allow all levels of experience and health. Short wanderings, day hikes, or over-night/weekend retreats available and lead by a trained life coach. Inexperienced hikers most welcome!

Forest Bathing or Forest Therapy is not a traditional therapy session.  The forest is the therapist and we are all present to allow ourselves a moment of self-care, free from the distractions and stress of our daily modern lives. I'll be sharing more on this soon!

This is intended to be a safe and judgement free zone.  There is no specific "type" of person for this group other than someone who feels the need to get outdoors.  Professionals, stay at home parents, New Age types, non New Age types.. pretty much anyone who is respectful is welcome!

Private sessions are available and I invite you to help build a supportive community of others seeking peace of mind.

Westchester LGBTQ+ Friends

Waccabuc, NY

Westchester LGBTQ+ Friends
We are a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and same-gender loving community interested in group social activities such as bike riding, music events, dog walks, film nights, hikes, food, etc.  The main goal of the group is to develop a culture of fun, adventure, connection and friendships. Come on out…play and create community with us. Important Information and Member Responsibility \~ Please provide your first name and a recognizable photo of yourself in your profile. We want to find each other at events and get to know each other "live and in person". Also adds to the security of the group! \~ I love suggestions, feel free to contact me if you have an idea for a meetup or would like to join the leadership team! \~ Please make these Meetup events a priority, so our group can thrive and grow. If you have 3 no shows you will be removed, so please update your RSVP to NO if you are not able to attend. A “no show” is when you RSVP YES and not show up or not message me (use comment section or private message) to let me know you can’t make it prior to the event starting. It is simple - just be courteous. \~ Keep your membership active by checking out the site periodically. You can also be removed at any point at the organizer’s discretion. Hate or drama will never be tolerated. \~ Participation in any and all events is at your own risk and you acknowledge that some Meetup events carry inherent dangers, such as the risk of illness or injury. By signing up for and participating in these events, you understand and agree that you have freely chosen to assume these risks. Event organizers and those connected to this group may not be held responsible for the safety or well-being of any member, guest or their pets who choose to attend these meetups. \~ I will try my best to go up to all that attend each event and introduce myself, especially with first timers, but don’t be shy if you see me first- come say hi! Looking forward to meeting you all!   \~ Peter - Organizer

Hudson Valley History Hikers

Somers, NY

Hudson Valley History Hikers

Hudson Valley History Hikers is a unique Meet Up group that focuses on exploring the wealth of historical places located within the Valley's woodlands and elsewhere. Vanished hamlets, mines, ruined estates, cemeteries, homesteads, farms, forgotten woodland roads, and other unique places will be explored. In addition, the hikes will focus on the diverse natural beauty of the Valley. Mt. views, lakes, streams, vistas, unique woodlands, and even beavers will be sought out. **Full disclosure: This group is meant for EXPERIENCED, COMMITTED hikers who are PASSIONATE about history, nature, and exploration.** The pace will be steady, but not fast or slow. There will be numerous brief pauses for history, nature, or otherwise fascinating encounters. Expect off the beaten path, unmarked trails, off trails, nooks, and crannies. There will be several hikes each season, but not weekly, or bi-weekly. The group's size will ALWAYS be limited. This is because it is impractical to do history pauses, which is a form of outdoor education, for very large typical Meet-Up sized groups. Also, because of regular off trail and bushwhacking, it is unsafe and impractical to have a large group. ***Members who sign up for an event are EXPECTED TO ATTEND*** No- Shows, late changes of rsvp's and a lack of commitment are contrary to what this group is about, and will risk deletion from our group.  Liability waiver must be signed at the meet up. Let's go find some cool stuff! Welcome!!

We have only a few rules that have been instigated by Members request. IT IS IMPORTANT TO READ.

OUR ATTENDANCE POLICY:  1.  2 no-shows will result in removal from our group.

                                                   2.  3 late cancellations, the day before an event, are akin to no-shows, and will result in removal.

                                                   3.  Signing up for 5 events, and even if you timely change your rsvp, but never                                                             actually attend an event, will result in removal.

Members with an attendance issue may contact the Organizer directly by clicking on his profile, then message.

                                                    * My changing rsvp's: I reserve the right to change any Member's rsvp based on a Member's attendance, abilities or past behavior. Also, I will remove anyone from an event if I learn that they have multiple booked themselves on other groups events at the same time. That mentality is contrary to what we're trying to accomplish. If I change an rsvp it's always with the group's best interest in mind and certainly never personal.

                                                    * Members who attend an event are expected to stay with the group at all times. It is UNACCEPTABLE to run ahead, lag behind, or separate yourself. History Hikes are group shared experiences.

                                                    * Everyone who attends an event is expected to READ ALL THE EVENT"S DESCRIPTION and BE PREPARED, or risk being turned away.

                                                    * There are never early outs except for unexpected emergencies.

                                                    * A representative profile, with a picture of yourself and name are expected. Non-representative profiles may result in being removed from events, or the group itself.

Westchester 60ish+ Goddesses

Yorktown Heights, NY

Westchester 60ish+ Goddesses
UPDATE (8/7/24): WE ARE NOT CURRENTLY ADDING MEMBERS. OUR DESCRIPTION & RULES: We are a SMALL group of women (mostly 60s, some late 50s & a couple beyond) who want to have fun, socialize, support each other, and create genuine, friendships with other local women, Goddesses. We love to dine out (often), go to movies, play games, read books, discuss podcasts, frequent parks and gardening venues, go to shows, picnic, hit festivals, visit wineries, go to museums, have a spa treatment or day. We mostly stay within a 30 minute drive from Northern Westchester but also road-trip for fun a little further away. \- This group is managed to be very small in size to allow deeper friendships to form\. Therefore\, we will NOT regularly add to the group and you will be invited to meet when the size/time is right\. With so much interest lately\, if there is any issue with name\, picture\, your location\, promptly answering the Admin's questions thru private messages\, etc\.\, you will be denied immediately\. \- A $25/current calendar year admin fee applies for each year and is due a month after your approval so get involved quickly\. Your dues will be collected via Venmo\, Zelle\, or in person/mail\. Please do not use the Meetup payment system\. \- We are LOCAL to Northern Westchester & do not accept long distance members\, it never works\. We have tried\. Also if most of your life is more than 20\-30 minutes away from our regular activities\, experience tells me that it will not work\. \- Inactive \(meaning not participating semi\-regularly\) will be removed\. Say 'hi' when you join via any event or private message\! COME to an event soon\, otherwise you will be removed\. \- A photo with a clear & current picture of your face is required so we know who we are meeting\, as is your first name\, meaningful answers to our member questions\, etc\. \- RSVP respect is a must\. "No shows" will be removed\. We treat each other as we do friends\, and expect you to as well\. There are many ways to get in touch if something comes up so let me know\, and keep your rsvp current\. The same goes for lateness \- let us know\. Be courteous\. If you chronically run late\, don't request to join\. \- We are thrilled that the fear of COVID is mostly behind us\, but are believers in science\, vaccines\, and mindful prevention\. Therefore\, if you do become sick or exposed we expect disclosure and ample time away from activities\. If this annoys you\, then you will not fit with the group\. \- While we encourage respectful political discussion\, extremism in terms of MAGA & "cult" politics\, propaganda entertainment/news programs\, etc\. are not a good fit\. Ditto for any other cult\-like followings\. \- No sales\, networking or recruiting\. There are other groups for that\. This includes for other meetups you may run or attend\. \- No men\. Seriously\! This is not a dating site\. There are other groups for that\. \- Set all meetup notifications to hear from us and check the meetup group regularly\. Meetup is our primary communication tool: we mostly use comments within an event for regular communication. \- If you need help\, ASK immediately\. It's amazing how many people say they are tech self sufficient and struggle with things like how to rsvp\, leave comments and get notifications\. \- If this list seems long\, I assure you it has resulted from learned experiences running this group\.

Tai Chi Easy

Bedford Hills, NY

Tai Chi Easy

"Tai Chi Easy™ is a carefully developed method and approach to Tai Chi and Qi (Chi) Cultivation that makes it easy, beneficial and fun from the very beginning. The student does not have to devote years to learning the traditional 108 movement form or even the shortened (24, 36, 42 movement) form to enjoy the calming emotional and health benefits of Tai Chi (Taiji).

"Tai Chi Easy is not “just” an exercise program that uses gentle activities to help increase joint flexibility and range of motion and to help maintain muscle strength. As a practice of “meditation in motion,” the slow movements and mindset of Tai Chi can be used to manage stress levels by creating a sense of choice and a heightened awareness of our capacities to mobilize the motivation, cognitive resources, and courses of action in every movement. (Courtesy Tai Chi Easy)

TAI CHI EASY/QIGONG group practice sessions are not taxing. They are not hard to follow. They call for a great deal of individual expression and do not demand any more than we can give. They are surprisingly fun, liberating and calming. Qigong is one of the pillars of Chinese Medicine and Dan’s approach helps people discover the latent power of self-healing.

Dan Weicher holds certification for teaching Qigong and Tai Chi from the Institute of Integral Qigong and Tai Chi and The Omega Institute In Rhinebeck, NY where he helped develop and teach Integral Energetics with Dr. Roger Jahnke, OMD.

Dan is also Vice President of the Healer Within Foundation, an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Santa Barbara, California whose mission is to empower individuals, groups, families, and communities, in the U.S. and internationally, in their quest for greater health, wellness, productivity, and purposeful living. He has over 3,000 hours of work, therapy, school and training in Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Mentoring at Mental Health Facilities, Hospitals, Energy Medicine, teaching and contributing to Protocols of other healers.

Dan is a practitioner of Wellness/Medical Qigong at BuShen Healing and Life Arts in Bedford Hills, New York www.bushenhealing.com. As a Qi Healer, Dan helps people reach areas not readily palpable or conditions that may not have responded to other therapies. His ability to sense and move energies, deep personal practice and long apprenticeships empower him to help people learn to turn on their own “Healer Within”.
