I currently do a music and dance program at assisted living facilities.
I teach easy international folk dances and we do some free style dancing. Some residents participate from their chairs, wheelchairs or walkers.

Hello all and welcome! I would like to spice this group up by including mostly people in their 30s (20 and 40s also welcome). You don't have to be married to be in this group, and children and pets will be welcome at some activities. I will organize things like brunch, happy hour, exercise groups, tapas, & local wine tastings. In the spring and summer, I'd like to organize short hikes and more outdoor activities. Some other hikes and activities will be pet & children appropriate.

We are a group that enjoys and embraces the outdoors, comradery and activities that will get your heart pumping! We walk or hike at a leisurely to moderate pace, in nice weather in and around the northern Nassau and Suffolk County, Long Island area and occasionally Upstate New York, while meeting and socializing with friendly co-walkers / hikers. People of all ages, sizes, shapes and colors are welcome to join if they are friendly, sociable, interested in meeting new people, and like to walk at an “athletic light” sort of pace -- that is, not terribly fast, but at a fair and consistent pace for average adults. Just be mindful that we might not always be walking on well paved (or at all paved) paths, some trails might have overgrowth, roots, stones, and obstructions to get over or around, and/or hills. At our events, we will meet up somewhere and then walk for an hour or two together. If folks want to go out afterward together to eat or drink somewhere, they are encouraged to do so.

New to climbing? Join us and get started with a free belay lesson and a supportive group of climbers of all abilities! Experienced climber? Come climb with some great new people. We meet at Island Rock in Plainview Weds. nights from 7PM until close (11PM). Tell the front desk you are with the Meetup to get a discounted day pass ($4 off). If you've never belayed (safe rope handling) before you'll need a FREE lesson (normally $32). Free lessons are at 7 pm and you must RSVP so we know how many are coming. This is for the Meetup members only! We promote a strong relationship between recreation and conservation by educating the mountain bicycling community on environmentally sound and socially responsible trail use. **Who We Are and What We Do** Our membership represents all levels of riders from beginners to experts. Our common passion for trail riding and stewardship brings us together as a collective voice. Our trail committee teaches volunteers how to design, build and maintain sustainable recreational mountain bicycle trails. Despite shrinking municipal resources, our volunteer work force can enhance outdoor recreational opportunities in public parks. We educate bicycle riders and other trail users from the local community how to design sustainable trails, help perform trail maintenance and organize clean ups. Our innovative interpretive trail fosters an appreciation for the land. This self-guided trail teaches environmentally friendly bike riding skills, socially responsible trail etiquette tips and lessons about our native flora and fauna. We create positive recreational uses in under utilized or problem sections of parklands. We teach trail users about invasive plant management to help protect our native plant and animal habitats. Doctors are now prescribing exercise as prevention and treatment for some diseases. Bicycling and hiking is part of the solution to reducing the nation's healthcare and budget crisis.
