WhyNot Adventures

Akron, OH

WhyNot Adventures

WhyNot Adventures Who we are and what we do.

WhyNot Adventures is a social group that in various forms has been sponsoring hiking and outdoor activities of several decades. Our most frequent regularly scheduled activity is hiking on Sunday mornings beginning in October and continuing through April.

As our members have multiple interests including biking, kayaking and camping, these activities are also posted on our site, especially during our non hiking summer season.

Our Sunday Hikes begin at 9:30. Please allow yourself enough travel time to arrive, introduce yourself, and be ready to leave promptly out of consideration for those who have.

We hike rain, snow, or shine throughout the winter and spring, so dress accordingly for the conditions. Our hikes are social events but they are hikes, and though we stop frequently, they are not usually a stroll in the park. It is not always be the case, but depending on conditions, you should expect and be prepared for stream crossings, elevation gains, rough and potentially muddy trails.

Also depending on conditions and the group makeup we may have trail options of distance and difficulty. We stop and regroup during the course of the hike so none are left behind. Always let someone know if you are having difficulty.

Dogs and children who are well behaved and under control so as not to interfere or endanger others are welcome. Park regulations require dogs to be on leash. Leashes for children are optional unless behavior is a problem.

Please come prepared to enjoy the day and your fellow hikers. Many of us go to lunch together at a nearby restaurant following the hike. Food has always an important part of our group activities

Wadsworth Adventurers

Wadsworth, OH

Wadsworth Adventurers
Welcome to Wadsworth Adventurers! My name is Joanna and I've been a member of "WA" since its inception over 6 years ago. I am honored that starting Jan 2022 the original organizer, Jeff, has asked me to step in and keep WA going strong for years to come. Along with my husband, Dan, we welcome you to the WA family! Who we are: WA are group of like-minded adult adventurers that love to learn new skills, challenge ourselves and enjoy the company of others while doing all things outdoors. We engage in all types of outdoor activities such as: hiking, biking, camping, backpacking, kayak/SUP and many other sports. We also enjoy all sorts of social events and are looking for new ways to connect on a deeper level. How we "roll": We limit our event attendance so that we can provide a more meaningful experience through small group interaction. We like to learn a first name and a little about each person. The idea of herding 60+ people through an event is not on our radar at all. We are not about mining for numbers, we truly look to connect with our members. For that reason, we monitor our RSVP's for no-shows or chronic late cancellations. Signing up for an event means that someone else may not get the chance to join an experience. We ask that you please be mindful of your availability and interest when committing to a WA event. Philosophy: We are a community of outdoor learners and teachers alike with a "no one left behind" philosophy. We believe in helping our group-either through personal support, education or gear - and encourage anyone looking to explore the outdoors in a supportive, welcoming environment. No need to be shy here! Why "WA": Our group is for beginners through advanced adventurers! We encourage new suggestions and ideas - and always look for fun ways to enjoy the outdoors and learn something new. We will mainly base our events out of Summit County - but trips can take us to neighboring states, across the country or even around the world! What are you waiting for?

Social Squad

Strongsville, OH

Social Squad
This is a ***private group*** for people who know me well in the real world or from other groups on Meetup, and those who know someone else well in our Inner Circle of members, who want to attend drama-free, small group events such as dining out, festivals, bars/bands, museums/sightseeing, short hikes, etc. in order to develop lasting friendships. THIS IS NOT A DATING GROUP! ***HOW DO YOU GET INTO THIS GROUP?*** \* If you know me well from another Meetup group (or from the real world) and I have not blocked you in chat or banned you from this group or WYGTYA!, you probably qualify. Go ahead and click join! \* If you know someone else well who is already in this group who can vouch for you being a decent person, and I have not blocked you in chat or banned you from this group or WYGTYA!, you probably qualify. Go ahead and click join, and list in the question section who you know in the group (will be verified)! \* If you are a complete stranger to me and those in my group that I know well and trust, or I only know of you and don't know you well, then you're not going to get in so don't even try. ***In this case I suggest you join my other group called "Wherever You Go There You Are! (WYGTYA!) to get to know me and others in this group first***. Sometimes there may be cross posted events. Or get to know me in one of the other Meetup groups that I am a member of. ***Repeated attempts to join this group when you don't know me or anyone else will result in you being banned from joining, ever!*** Some other things to note: * We aren't competing with other groups to win largest group, largest # of event attendees, or any other B.S. drama like that! We support other groups being what they want to be, encourage you to be a member of multiple Meetup groups, and likewise hope they respect our group. Because it's really all about having fun. * Event size will be limited to small groups. Can you really effectively socialize with those in the group when you can't even see the people at the other end of the table? * Most events will be in the Cleveland Metropolitan area (Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, and Medina counties) but we might occasionally venture further out. * You join and attend events at your own risk, and AGREE TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS Meetup, the group organizer, and the event hosts from any loss, liability, damage or cost, including court costs and attorney's fees, that they may incur due to your participation in said activity, WHETHER CAUSED BY NEGLIGENCE OF RELEASEES or otherwise. Thanks! Lisa S.

Jeff & Salli's Excellent Adventures

Cleveland, OH

Jeff & Salli's Excellent Adventures
**OUR MISSION:** After spending most of our lives traveling the world looking for adventure, Salli and I have found a new pastime - exploring our own backyard and having people join us in the fun. Our main purpose is simple: to bring together fun-loving people who not only enjoy getting out and discovering unique places, but also want to share their experiences with others. By attracting singles, couples and people from all age groups and ethnicities our hope is to create friendships that will last a lifetime. Our events will be varied and include visits to unique scenic areas that may not be familiar to most Clevelanders. Other activities will include kayaking local rivers, lake cruises, zipline courses, road trips, winter walks, wine and beer tastings, and seasonal attractions. Since there are plenty of purely hiking, biking and kayaking groups already out there, we do not plan to compete with them. Salli and I want our events to be done at a leisurely enough pace so that we can take the time to fully experience the places we visit. This will be our mission and how we will differ from other groups. **OUR ONLY REQUIREMENT:** The only requirement to membership is that you provide a REAL picture of yourself and a REAL name. No cartoons, nicknames or initials please! It causes a lot of unnecessary confusion at events when we don't know what somebody looks like and don't know their name. If you have a legitimate reason for not providing these please let me know, but I prefer having no exceptions. **FREE MEMBERSHIP:** I will never charge a fee to members of our group. Organizers should be able to pay for their own subscription. Meetup should be free to everyone! **ABOUT OUR "HIKES":** We are NOT a pure hiking group. Our "hikes" are not intended to be non-stop, cardio workouts. Walking for us is simply a mode of transportation - a way to access areas that have a particular scenic value. You can expect us to stop often to experience the surroundings, take pictures and maybe even have a conversation about what we are visiting. We will travel at no MORE than 3MPH (20 minute miles) and never leave anyone behind. If you need to move at a faster, non-stop pace or don't care about your surroundings, this is definitely not a group for you. **RESTAURANT POLICY:** I want to restrict restaurant attendance to those people who do the ENTIRE event. It is so difficult dealing with restaurants right now that I want to make sure that we have enough seating before allowing others to attend. Jeff & Salli events are never intended to be "restaurant only" so I hope you all understand. **ABOUT RSVPs:** Attendance at events is important to everybody. If you RSVP to something, please make every effort to attend and be on-time. If not, please do us a favor by changing it early enough so that we know you are not coming. It makes it very difficult to reserve space at certain venues when we don't have an accurate count. Also, if you have purchased a ticket and find out that you can't attend, please let me know and I can usually find someone who wants to buy your ticket before the day of the event. **RSVPing to PREPAID EVENTS:** If you are new to Meetup I need to explain how prepaid events work. Merely RSVPing to something doesn't guarantee you a seat or buy a ticket. It only tells an organizer that you are INTERESTED in attending. You still need to read the info on how to buy a ticket and complete that process before you can attend. RSVPs are simply a statement of interest and not a guarantee or ticket purchase. **NO-SHOWS:** These are always a problem with Meetups. There are so many people who will sign up for many events early and end up forgetting which ones they've committed to. I do not have a "3 no-shows and you are out" policy so please be considerate by committing to one event only and making sure you change your RSVPs to the others. **INJURY LIABILITY DISCLAIMER:** “Jeff & Salli's Excellent Adventures” group and its organizers are not responsible for your safety or well-being. Outdoor activities are inherently dangerous. The COVID-19 outbreak has added a new element of concern to events and it is entirely the member's responsibility to determine their own risk tolerance before attending. By signing up for these events, you agree to release “Jeff & Salli's Excellent Adventures” group of Meetup.com and its organizers from ANY responsibility, liability or claim in law or in equity. If you DON'T agree to these terms, DO NOT JOIN THIS MEETUP EVENT. “Jeff & Salli's Excellent Adventures" group of Meetup.com doesn't certify the expertise of its organizers. The organizers in this Meetup.com group are volunteers. You are responsible for yourself. You have voluntarily elected to participate in the events listed under “Jeff & Salli's Excellent Adventures” events and FULLY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL RISKS AND ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY INJURY, SICKNESS, LOSSES AND DAMAGES TO PERSON OR PROPERTY THAT INCUR AS A RESULT OF YOUR PARTICIPATION.   That's enough of the boring stuff. Let's get ready to go out and do some exploring!
