Buckeye Trail: Crooked River Chapter
Streetsboro, OH
The Crooked River Chapter of the Buckeye Trail Association is the chapter for those who live near or along the Akron, Bedford, Burton, and Mogadore sections. These sections comprise the majority of the "Little Loop". Hikers who complete the "Little Loop" are eligible for a patch! The CRC’s extent includes the Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Ashtabula, Trumbull, Portage, Mahoning and Stark Counties (Stark County is shared with the Muskingum Lakes Chapter). We support the Buckeye Trail through hiking, backpacking, and volunteer events.
The Buckeye Trail Association is the leader in building, maintaining, protecting and promoting use of Ohio's longest scenic hiking trail for our citizens, communities and partners. We provide outdoor recreation, opportunities to volunteer, education, access to the varied resources of Ohio and local economic benefits.
The Buckeye Trail, Ohio's State Scenic Trail, is a sustainable hiking trail that provides a safe and unique experience throughout the state reflecting the diverse resources, people and stories of Ohio. The trail is a dedicated, recognized and protected route developed and maintained by the Buckeye Trail Association, an organization reflective of the diversity of the trail. The Buckeye Trail Association works in close partnership with communities, organizations and agencies around Ohio creating a legacy for present and future generations.

The Cleveland Skeptics
Cleveland, OH
This group is currently on hiatus. We do have a Cleveland Skeptics facebook group that is moderately active with online discussion. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Since 2008, our members have been making friends, learning, challenging and being challenged with people who like to explore commonly held ideas and beliefs with a scientific eye. Take a break from those who buy into the latest “cure” or conspiracy theory, or those who won't let go of the oldest religious idea, or social standard based on "truthiness" alone. Hang out for a laugh, learn to think critically, and help each other make a difference. Get to know a group of people who want a better world through examining new and old ideas alike! Learn more about what skepticism is. (Hint #1- We are *NOT* anthropogenic climate change skeptics .)
The Cleveland Skeptics hold about 3-5 activities per month including events like:
Regular book club, gaming nights and monthly Drinking Skeptically (non-drinkers welcome!)
Frequent museum trips to see latest exhibits and lectures (Natural history, science, art or others)
Annual Darwin Day
"Thinking Skeptically" -- small group interactive lectures and discussions
Movies- sometimes related to science or critical thinking sometimes just for fun
Historical tour of Kirtland's Mormon Temple
Occasional trips to New Age fairs with "New Age Bingo"
Casual gatherings, sometimes with a theme of discussion
Annual National Abortion Access Bowl-A-Thon with our team, The Immaculate Contraceptions
Miscellaneous good times such as bowling, hikes, science fairs, playhouse square, etc.
Active mailing list, facebook group.
Note: This is not an atheist/agnostic/freethinker/secularist group per se; non-theism is not required nor sufficient to appreciate this group; valuing science and critical thinking is. That said, most of us are non-religious. Expect ideas you present to be challenged and questions, including religious ones.
The Cleveland Skeptics is proud to have a code of conduct in order to build a positive experience for everyone.
