Pocono's Outdoor Adventures

Bushkill, PA

Pocono's Outdoor Adventures
Welcome Adventurers! If you love hiking, swimming, kayaking, camping & backpacking and generally the outdoors all year round, then this is the group for you! My favorite type of hike is one where we explore and linger at a reasonable pace. I love mapping and creating new hikes. I live smack in the middle of all 3 borders of PA, NJ & NY and am acquainted with many of the parks in my surrounding vicinity! You will see a variety of parks that we will frequent. This is mostly a hiking group. We will post hiking events on a regular basis along with other events such as swiking (swim hikes), camping, kayaking & backpacking! ;) Just know that my usual MO is to explore. Things to know: * 1. **Hiking Difficulty Levels** \- Please know that you must be aware of your hiking level\. Most hikes will NOT \(or never\) be easy unless specified as "Easy"\. I am accustomed to posting information on the difficulty level of the hikes as well as the overall length of the hike\. * 2. **Group Etiquette:** Please note that for those who have a stringent time frame on a hike or who want to forage ahead and speed hike, you are welcome to leave the group but I am in no way responsible for you if you get lost. The group is under no obligation to keep up with extremely fast paced hikers. I have no problem cutting you loose and those who want to follow you, to travel at the pace that you please. * 3. **Disclaimer** \- As with all meetup events\, your participation is voluntary and you are under no obligation to participate or continue in any portion of any event\. You are responsible for your own well\-being\. By all means message me with any questions with anything that you feel may be pertinent. I am here all year round for you. PS - I also am an organizer of other groups but this is my main group that is primarily based near the Delaware Water Gap. This is where you will want to stay. With that being said, some of the events will be cross-posted onto my other groups so the number of attendees may be more than what you see. Please only RSVP once & ideally from this main group. Luv you guys! Thank you & hope to see you around! Ilene K.

This group was formed to enhance the lives of widows and widowers. We are a fun group whose lives have drastically changed due to the loss of a loved one. Let me first say this is NOT a dating group. Nazareth AND surrounding areas: Empathy Circle

Bath, PA

Nazareth AND surrounding areas: Empathy Circle
Would you like to speak and feel fully heard? Would you like to connect to yourself and others more deeply? Do you want to work on developing your empathy skills? Would you benefit from freely sharing, without the cost of a therapist? Do you want to feel understood? Valued? Excited about your life? Beloved Participants I warmly invite you to the Empathy Circle. In our circle, your well-being matters to us. We understand the importance of being heard, each and every one of us. We're are here to be present for whatever is on your mind and heart. You are not alone; we are here with you. And, I'm hosting these circles at no cost for you. The circles are Free. Our only focus is on being present for you now, in the moment. Your comfort and growth are the priority. We genuinely care about your experiences. Your thoughts and feelings are valuable. We're committed you your emotional journey. Become part of a caring community. You'll find a welcoming and understanding space. Together we foster a culture of compassion. Connect with like-minded individuals who care. Share your thoughts in a nurturing environment. Anyone can attend an Empathy Circle - but the circle is a small group of 5-6 people. The format is simple, and the results for all of us is nothing short of profound. Everyone will get a change to speak for 3-4 minutes. Your listener will reflect just what you have said. No judgment or comments of their own. Just repeating one idea at a time, whatever is on your mind and heart. Once the speaker has had their turn, they then become the listener. We will continue for 40 minutes. “Although our brains are built for positive emotions, one major obstacle gets in our way: Dr. Pert explained that our brain’s functions are hindered by “the thought that we are separate from each other and from the rest of creation.” In other words, if we lack empathy, if we lack this connection to others and the world by separating ourselves emotionally, indeed from creation itself, we interfere with the hardwiring of our brains. Developing empathy for others and self-empathy, and teaching others to do the same, will dramatically improve not only emotional health but physical health as well. Another huge benefit from the Empathy Circle is that it gives our amygdala a pause. The amygdala's role in the brain involves processing emotions, particularly fear and stress responses. After a stressful event, the amygdala can become activated, triggering the "fight or flight" response and releasing stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. Chronic stress can lead to heightened sensitivity of the amygdala and a diminished ability to return to a balanced state. Practicing stress management techniques regularly can help improve the brain's resilience to stressors and facilitate a smoother reset process after stressful events. The active listening part of the Empathy Circle calms down the amygdala because you are only focused on returning a description of what the speaker has verbalized. We are not racing around in our brain to figure out what you want to say next, since all the is needed is just a succinct feedback. This is golden. “Empathy for ourselves and others — the emotion connecting us to the world — is a tremendous healing agent." Compassion “turns on” our immune system and improves health dramatically. All positive emotions, studies show, release brain chemicals called endorphins that dull pain and produce pleasure. Each empathy circle is limited to 6 people. Once we grow into a bigger group, I will be expanding. Of course, we agree to use first names only, and confidentially is expected. I have found that it helps me to feel more in the moment, and calms down my mind. Sometimes not even friends or family are available, or capable of being empathic. This resource is as close as you can get to a true friend without any of the drama. Here is a link that explains the value of empathy- https://www.pointloma.edu/resources/counseling-psychology/how-empathy-can-change-your-life-career

Dog Hikers of New Jersey

Dog Hikers of New Jersey
DOG HIKERS OF NEW JERSEY \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* The purpose of this group is to provide dog lovers the opportunity to hike with other dog lovers and their dogs on trails in public parks in NJ.   \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* Explore and enjoy the outdoors, and make new, local friends, human and canine! Our main activity will be hiking throughout central and northern New Jersey and Rockland and Orange County in New York. This is a laid back group with easy going outings. All walks are free. All breeds of dogs are welcome. Leashes required. Social dogs only. (No aggressive dogs.) Dogs must have up to date rabies and distemper vaccinations. The safety and care of the animals and their owners cannot be guaranteed but a spay/neuter requirement will reduce the likelihood of any unwanted issues. All dogs must be spayed/neutered. Dogs must be under the owner's control at all times and be handled in compliance with all park, state, and local laws & regulations. Owners are 100% responsible for their dog's care and behavior and for complying with all regulations governing all meet-up venues. Hiking is always at your own risk. You are responsible for understanding and following all laws within the park including leash laws. You accept responsibility for the safety of yourself, your pets and any guests and their pets you invite from outside the group. Attending our hikes signifies you understand the physical challenges and agree that you, your pet and any guests and their pets are physically capable and that you will be responsible for your own and their safety. Our pace is generally about 2 miles per hour.  Some trails are hilly, some have steep slopes, some have very rocky terrain and some have difficult stream crossings. And some have various combinations of these conditions.  **Do not attend, if you are not physically ready for these conditions.** Children under 12 years of age are not allowed. Please be advised that the Organizer/Co-Organizer reserve the right to remove any members who do not abide by these or any other policies. The size of the group for a meetup is generally limited to 16 people. The reason for this is that it becomes increasingly difficult to handle the dogs with larger groups, increasing the risk of people getting knocked over and negative encounters with other hikers on the trail (imagine a horde of dogs swooping down on an unsuspecting hiker). If a meetup is full you can put your name on the waitlist and if a spot frees up due to a cancellation, you will be moved to the attending list. If you have 3 “no-shows” you will be dropped from the group. A “no-show” means that you reserved to attend but then don’t and you do not cancel your reserved spot beforehand. To allow people on the waitlist sufficient time to change plans if a spot opens up, please cancel the evening before the hike. Understandably there will be unforeseen circumstances that will prevent you from attending but this shouldn’t include waking up that morning and deciding you don’t want to go because you are too tired/hungover or you have something better to do. If you consistently cancel at the last minute, you automatically will be put on the waitlist. The courtesy of keeping your RSVP current is expected.  3 "No Shows" will result in pack membership termination.  Canceling an RSVP after the RSVP cut-off time will be treated as a "No Show".  We don't want to lose anyone so just be considerate to the other pack members hanging around waiting for you, for naught. No solicitations, please. This website is for organizing meet-ups only. .

Cancellations- Due to the cost and complexity of scheduling and planning we all need to go through I ask that you please honor your commitments to attending trips once you've paid for them.
