It's better Outdoors

Philadelphia, PA

It's better Outdoors
Here is the 2024 annual email for those that may not have received it or are new to the group and didn't get the email blast: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MN1Vs4gPeUfZ9wMXpXAOmj_84s9gIeBK9XaH_doCUYY/edit?usp=sharing This is a group for anyone that loves to adventure outdoors and wants to do it with other people, even if they are complete strangers. If you like to hike, camp, raft, ski, board, travel and other activities this is THE group for you. If you're only looking for happy hours, this isn't the group for you, this is NOT a singles group. We plan happy hours now and then to get the members of the group together in social settings to discuss future adventures - some good plans can be made over a beer or two. And all good adventures end with a drink! It's better with someone else... It's better with beer/drinks... It's Better Outdoors... Come join us! Our motto is : "We don't talk quietly, hike slowly, go to bed early or only have just one drink" Please make sure to read the Waiver (General Release of Liability). By joining the group you accept the policy decribed here:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1x-HMpzi-4XKZPa-7XTk-nQIa-v0CwZj5kgehs7mSnGw/edit?usp=sharing Note: this is NOT a beginners group and events are typically geared towards those with some experience usually at an intermediate or advanced level depending on the event - ie: we don't hike slow and don't do short hikes Please make sure you also read the 'What is expected of you' as described here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1C3oqyau0EjNVnHyKoc1DH0fi5PmLlB7wVH4-eSykZUg/edit?usp=sharing Joining the group also means you're ok with being photographed during adventures - we always take pics: for the memories and for promotion of future events (we can't always accommodate a 'no photo' request) This is a real meetup group, this is NOT a business nor am I promoting a business and I do not promote businesses. If you see an event posted that means that I will be there to meet you, greet you, do the activity with you and have a drink with you during or afterwards. We are also not a networking group and do not tolerate solicitation of members. We welcome anyone in their 20s - 50s of any gender, race or nationality. But please email the event organizer first if you want to bring a dog...sometimes they are ok and sometimes not. H3 OUTDOORS (H3O)

Valley Forge, PA

H3 OUTDOORS (H3O)
**Welcome Adventurers To H3 Outdoors or H3O!!!** \ You might be asking... what does H3 stand for? *Harmony... Happy... Healthy... Outdoors!* **"We're Not Just Hiking... We're H3O!"** We are a diverse group of hikers, walkers, backpackers, campers, runners, bicyclists, paddlers, rock climbers who simply enjoy being outside, with other people and getting some exercise at the same time. **Ten Years... over 6,000 members... and 4000 events!** We started out as a hiking group in 2013 and that is still our core activity, but H3O is evolving everyday in every way to expand our horizons to offer just about any fun, healthy outdoor activity possible. [H3O Member Code of Conduct (Click To View)](https://docs.google.com/document/d/17ZYMIr-fiMDEFPPO9D1WRVEfxVK6ELcy/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=112345812258770866986&rtpof=true&sd=true) **Where Do We Go? "Outdoors" Is A Pretty Big Place!** Many of our hikes and events are in Valley Forge National Park, Ridley Creek State Park and most other parks and hiking trail destinations located throughout Chester, Montgomery, Berks and Delaware counties. But we are always venturing out to other areas and neighboring states and now across the country. And in 2015 we hosted our first international hiking trip to England. **Are H3O Hikes and Activities For You?** \ Our members have a variety of physical skill levels from beginner to intermediate to advanced hardcore. We always plan our hikes and activities with this in mind and will let you know the minimum skill level required so you can decide if an activity is appropriate for you to attend. Hiking and activities should always be well within your own comfort and skill level. Our organizers are not professionals and all hiking and activities are always at your own risk and responsibility. Dogs on a leash are permitted at your own risk on Meetups where the venue allows dogs. Our number one goal is to have fun and enjoy the great outdoors while observing safety at all times. **Do We Charge Anything?** Meet Up charges a fee to maintain the website and all groups need to pay this to continue to post activities for their group. We don't charge our members but anyone can feel free to "Chip In" voluntary contributions. This is NOT a membership fee but a voluntary donation to keep the group going. If you are unable to make a donation, no worries; you are still welcome to join our group. Other than that, if a planned event requires a cost to conduct it (i.e., lodging, travel, permits, equipment, supplies, etc.) then we do charge the appropriate funds to cover those costs. We don't mark up any costs and we don't make a profit off any events. \ **So, What Do You Want To Do? Where Do You Want To Go?** We are open to the suggestions of our members. Let us know! Our activities are only limited by imagination! But let's keep it safe. Maybe no jumping out of helicopters. But that does sound fun! ***Come On Out and Join Us! We Hope To See You Out There! Whaaahoooo! ;)*** **Want To See For Yourself? Nature Studies

Phoenixville, PA

Nature Studies
**Turn off the box and come out for a walk.** For over 50 (yikes) years I've been been teaching folks what wild plants are good for - food, medicine, tools, entertainment, staying warm, survival, joy, etc. I'm now expanding Nature Studies to a more global experience of how to be outdoors. I will continue to do the herb/tree/fungi/ thing. With the New and Improved! version, friends and I will teaching about cutting tools, navigation, being quiet, being loud, making fire, geology, weather, personal awareness, water, bugs, birds and critters, play, building fire, trapping, mindfulness, basket weaving, building shelter, tracking, primitive health care, stalking, tracking and more. We will explore new places and return to familiar paths to see how the change of weather, moon phase, seasons and human activity modifies life. We've spent a lifetime learning how to survive in the modern world. This will be an opportunity to learn how to be safe in nature. For the last few years I've taken a hiatus from my Meetup weed walks. I moved to Phoenixville area where I did the COVID isolation dance, family dance, built my private psychiatric (NP) practice. For decades I've been talking to students and clients about the healing nature of nature and the detrimental effects of our techno-culture. Social media is picking slowly up on this, be it in reference to outdoor play inhibiting childhood myopia or the emotional and cognitive enhancement from being outdoors. For decades I've witnessed the depression, disassociation, family conflict, and social isolation our culture promotes. I've seen how being cut off from the natural world has made people oblivious to our degradation of the natural world. Now semi-retired, it seemed to me I might do more good helping by preventing the emotional, cognitive, physical plagues by getting folks reconnected to our natural home. Nature is my home, church, teacher, security blanket, and playmate and I can share this with you. So whether you want to keep self and family healthy, have some fun, meet outdoorsy people, learn new stuff, expand awareness and/or prep for SHTF, come on out. Engage and enjoy. Be aware, anything you touch or put in your mouth may cause you to be sick or die. Anything a child eats or does or does not do is the responsibility of the accompanying adult. Kids dehydrate easily, bring them beverage. We will be mostly outside where we may be cold, hot, thirsty, bug bit, and cranky. You or your kids could get injured. (You are probably more likely to get hurt in a car accident on your way, but be prepared. Nature is fickle ). Be prepared with bug spray, water, and any medicine you might need. I almost always have a knife with me, a very useful tool! Wear clothing fit for changeable weather, dress in layers, wear solid shoes. There are rocks and roots to trip on and break bones. I will do my best to say in advance how difficult or easy an outing will be, or if it's wheelchair accessible but no guarantees. Do not come if you are infectious, high, angry or otherwise incapacitated. People behaving inappropriately or dangerously will be asked to leave. Any questions or lost on your way? My cell # is 610-324-8490. Hugh Brenner
