York Bicycling

York, PA

York Bicycling
York Bicycling is NOT a cycling club.  But it IS an on-line site for local cyclists to find and organize group rides in the York County Pennsylvania and surrounding area. So there are no dues, no obligations and no boring meetings to attend!  Just open group rides! Ride descriptions have moved! Please keep scrolling for ride description details. This page is not affiliated with any one person, club or bike shop, though individuals, clubs and bike shops are encouraged to post rides. Our goal is that eventually all open rides in York County Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas will be posted here.  This Meet-Up site is accessible to all who enjoy the social interaction of group rides and endorse the idea of "The More the Merrier" when it comes to riding bikes. We also have a Facebook page for all of the chitter-chatter that cyclists like to engage in when they aren't cycling.  Please join if Facebook is your thing by using the link on at the bottom of this home page. **Ride Descriptions:** When posting rides, please include the planned distance, the terrain profile (flat, rolling or hilly) and the ride "pace" information as below. If you are looking to join a ride, the descriptions below should help you find an appropriate ride. When joining a ride, it is important that your skill and fitness level matches the announced ride profile, not only for your own enjoyment but for the enjoyment of the rest of the ride attendees. Read the ride description, and if in doubt, ask the ride organizer for clarification. "D" ride - Usually 10 - 11 MPH average speed on flat or gently rolling terrain. A "D" ride is usually appropriate for entry level riders, casual riders or those returning to riding after a long break. "D" rides are generally good for riders on hybrid bicycles. A "D" ride may be a road or rail trail ride. Check the description of the individual ride for clarification. "C" ride - Usually 12 - 13 MPH average speed. Typically a flat or rolling road ride, though a "C" ride may be hilly in parts of York County so check out the description of the ride. A "C" ride is a step up from entry level and most riders should be mounted on road bikes. If you are a "B" or "A" rider joining a "C" ride, something other than a road bike may be appropriate, but otherwise a skinny-tired bike is recommended. Check the description of the individual ride for clarification. "B" ride - 14 -17 MPH average road ride depending upon the terrain profile. Hilly rides will be slower, flat ones faster. A "B" ride is usually somewhat competitive in spurts, but social between bursts of activity. Riders should be mounted on road bikes with road tires. A "B" ride in hillier parts of the county can be quite challenging, so check the individual ride description for clarification. "A" ride - 17+ MPH average. "A" rides are usually geared towards racers or wanna-be racers on road bikes. Plan on working hard for the whole distance and ending with a 17-20+ MPH average depending on the hilliness of the ride. A "no mercy" attitude is the norm. Make sure you are *easily* doing B rides before attending a ride announced as an A ride.

"If life were to come with a manual, this in my opinion would be it! If we all applied the Inner Engineering technology, our world would instantly transform to exist from a foundation of peace, joy, and compassion for all beings."  -Evita Ochel

For all of the strides we have made in science and technology with standards of living unimaginable a century ago, most human beings still remain in search of wholeness and purpose in their lives.  Inner Engineering is scientifically-structured to offer powerful processes from the ancient tradition of yoga to transcend the limitations of who you are and bring you to higher levels of consciousness.  Inner Engineering was designed by Sadhguru, a yogi, visionary, and one the foremost authorities on yoga as a powerful tool to create your life the way you want it.

Sadhguru & Deepak Chopra— Creating Inner Peace, Joy and Fulfillment in a Hectic Modern World

"The word 'yoga' means union, that means you experience the entire universe as yourself...by working with the body, by working with the mind, by working with your emotion and energy, you can setup a step-by- step system within yourself where your energies are kept at such a level of exuberance that your sensory body is as large as the universe...Once you experience everybody around you as yourself... your goodness is a consequence, not an effort."

About Sadhguru—Sadhguru is a realized yogi and mystic – a man whose passion spills into everything he encounters. With a keen mind, balanced by a heart that knows no boundary, his presence and powerful yoga programs create an extraordinary opportunity to break through limitations into one’s natural state of freedom, love and joy.

Sadhguru has a unique ability to make the ancient science of yoga relevant to contemporary minds. Sadhguru serves as a bridge to the deeper dimensions of life. His approach does not ascribe to any belief system, but offers methods for self-transformation that are both proven and powerful.

An author, poet and internationally renowned speaker, Sadhguru’s wit and piercing logic provoke and broaden our thoughts and perception of the meaning of life, the very purpose of life. Sadhguru has been an influential voice at major global forums including the UN, MIT, TED, and the World Economic Forum.

Sadhguru established Isha Foundation, a non-profit organization supported by over two million volunteers worldwide. From powerful yoga programs and meditation practices to large-scale humanitarian projects, the foundation’s activities are designed to create an inclusive culture and establish global harmony, earning a special consultative status with the United Nations.

Lancaster Psychedelic Community

Lancaster, PA

Lancaster Psychedelic Community
The Lancaster Psychedelic Community is dedicated to providing resources for therapeutic psychedelic healing and creating open forum discussions through community building events. *You must be 18 to access this Meetup Group. Please stop reading if you are under 18. By reading further you warrant you are 18 or older.* *Note: This site is a container for support and engaged intrapersonal reflection. This is not a drug marketplace, an advertisement forum, or an informational seminar on legal, medical, or conspiratuality theory concerns. Lancaster Psychedelic Community does not encourage or condone any illegal activities, including but not limited to the use of illegal substances. We do not provide mental health or medical services. We are not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric diagnosis or treatment. We recognize the need for harm reduction strategies, education, and community support. Please do not ask for or offer illegal substances.* LPC welcomes participants who share a mindset that reflects the the following statement made in reference to plant medicines. "The call from the Amazon is to live psychedelically, which does not necessarily mean taking psychedelic (definition: mind manifesting) drugs. It means living in full recognition that what life is about is to be in a state of emergent mind .... connecting the emergent mind that holds us and to learn that that's where life force comes from. That's the message that they're wanting to transmit." - Eduardo Kohn, McGill University Anthropologist, author "How Forests Think: Toward an Anthropology Beyond the Human". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fi66wFfOC-4 Community implies our intrinsic need to share common values and experiences as we deprogram the conditioned mind that has fooled us into the mistaken belief that separation is "just being human". Through community connecting framework of mutual support, compassion, and kindness we can accelerate the process of Cultivating Awareness of Oneness "CAO". "Mystical Experiences" are most likely the foundation of the world's great spiritual traditions typically accompanied by visions DMT induced either endogenously or externally. The recent renaissance of psychedelics for scientific therapeutic study and extensive underground (in most countries) guided ceremony attest to society's greater acceptance of the emergent mind concept. References to both are abundant online. Let LPC be your local connection as we sort through the myriad possibilities opening our minds to peace and awareness. May we navigate the mental map together with kindness at the core in these perilous and promising times.

Lancaster Freethought Society

Lancaster, PA

Lancaster Freethought Society
**Don't believe in God?** **You are not alone!** **![](http://photos3.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/7/3/d/e/event_73349662.jpeg)** It is an exciting time to be a nonbeliever in the U.S. There are more people shedding dogma and religion in this country than at any other time in the past. Membership in atheist organizations is growing steadily and more people are standing up for their rights to be free from religion. The formation of the LFS is in response to the desire of Lancaster area free thinkers to become a part of this growing movement. **What is a Freethinker?** A freethinker is one who forms opinions about religion, independently of tradition, dogma, authority or established belief, in favor of rational inquiry. **Our goals:** \- Provide a social and intellectual **community** for freethinkers and their families. \- Enrich and empower our membership through education and activism \- Educate the public about non\-theists and church\-state separation \- Teach critical thinking skills and promote reason \- Defend and promote the separation of church and state   **Community** **is the primary goal of the Lancaster Freethought Society.** We strive to provide a community in the Lancaster area for Atheists, Agnostics, Secular Humanists, Skeptics, and Freethinkers of every stripe. Without a strong community, none of our other goals are possible to achieve. Whether you are still in closet about your atheism or loud and proud, you are welcome to join our friendly community.   **Charity** is another of LFS’s goals. We will search for ways to help our local community and help put a positive face on atheism. Some of these activities will be “Adopt a Highway” clean-ups, food drives, an “Ask An Atheist” booth at Lancaster Central Market, and participation in local festivals. We want to dispel the public perception of atheists as immoral self-centered people and secure a positive place in the hearts and minds of the community. **Family** is important to LFS. One of the things that religion does so well is to create a social support system and a sense of community for its members. LFS wants to fill this role for nonbelievers in the Lancaster area. If you are sick in the hospital, a member might be able to visit or watch your kids while your significant other goes grocery shopping. If you lost your job, LFS might be able to assist you in locating new employment. You will have a network of friends to lean on. We want to grow as a community with you and your families. **Education** is an important part of being a prepared organization.  Each monthly meeting will include a discussion. This can be a talk on anything related to freethought, science, religion, counter-apologetics, philosophy, or activism. Members are encouraged to write and present a talk concerning any of these subjects. Let us know if you are interested in doing so. We also plan on bringing in guest speakers from time to time to share their knowledge with us. **Events** are a great way to get to know each other, learn as a group, or just have fun. Join us at our monthly meeting. Come hang out with us on LFS Pub Nights. Families are welcome at picnics, play dates, pizza parties, bowling nights, and more! We try to mix up the days of the week that events occur on in order to give everyone the best chance to attend at least some of our events. **Activism** is sometimes needed to defend the separation of church and state in our area and nationwide, but picket lines are not the only form of activism. Charity events to help our local community, litter pickups, and helping those in need are also a form of activism. We are not haters in LFS but we will defend our rights. I look forward to meeting you and your families and to welcome you as part of the LFS Family.   Scott Rhoades *President – Lancaster Freethought Society* Wilson Whiting Organizer*– Lancaster Freethought Society*
