Providence Outdoor Adventures

Providence, RI

Providence Outdoor Adventures

We are Providence's number one group for hiking, skiing, biking, snowboarding, and more. We have no cliquey events where only the regulars always get chosen, and every event starts with carpool so nobody is left behind. We are the most inclusive group in the area for hiking, skiing, biking, snowboarding, and other outdoor adventures.

Our group is about the democratization of the outdoors, so you can be the adventure spark (https://www.ridj-it.com/adventurespark)without having to go through layers of the usual Meetup hierarchy.

Do you want to get out and go skiing but don’t have a ride? We’ve got your back. Have you been dreaming about surfing but can’t make it out to California? We know a secret spot to paddle out, and its way closer than you think. Ridj-it has helped bring hundreds of people from the creature comforts of the city to adventures of a lifetime all around New England. Pick one of our trips or design your own; we’ll sort out the details. Your ride is outside. What are you waiting for?

Ridj-it has taken over 3,000 cars off the road, and through connecting those without cars with those who have one, we've helped adventurers host over 500+ events in just a year. Is there a mountain you've always wanted to hike?

Drivers and riders can post adventures from Providence. Our events include people from Meetup, Facebook, Airbnb, and others, so we're more than your typical Meetup group.

Why do we carpool? (https://www.ridj-it.com/single-post/2018/02/18/Why-Carpool)We found most other outdoor Meetups were leaving younger residents, people of color, and immigrants behind. By linking our trips to carpool, we make sure everyone has to work together as a team in order to go on events. Many of our hosts don't have cars, and we're proud to have a space where outdoor enthusiasts can slowly democratize access to New England's beautiful mountains, rivers, and beaches.

Warwick Activities Meetup Group

Warwick, RI

Warwick Activities Meetup Group
New or old to these groups- let’s get a schedule together of things to do that can keep us active and social. Let’s take a walk on one of the many trails that RI has to offer or I hear that there may be a bike path somewhere to walk/ride/skate. Or maybe it is raining and we want to have a game night. We can share a cocktail at an area establishment if we choose as a different activity- in this group the sky is the limit as long as we are socially conscious and accepting of each other’s diverse nature. And honestly this group is for everyone just as long as you want to be in a positive space and enjoy one another. Come one, come all- join us!! I want to add that this group is not focused on dating or drama and members should not come events and have to worry about this. Members should be able to come and have a good time. There also will be in no way any allowance of any type of behavior that makes other group members uncomfortable, no oppressive behaviors exhibited. If this occurs, please bring it to the group moderator. Also, I am going to request that members please have a clear picture of themselves and have their names in their profiles for safety reasons. If members don’t maintain this, I will request that this be done 1 time and a 1 month grace and termination if rules are not followed. So, having said this 😎, let’s get together and have a good time. We are a group TO HAVE FUN AND ENJOY EACH OTHER’S UNIQUE BACKGROUNDS as we all have much to give to one another . Let me know if you have any questions, concerns or activities suggestions. Best, Barbara

Rhode Island Hiking Club "Walks and Rambles"

Warwick, RI

Rhode Island Hiking Club "Walks and Rambles"
Welcome to the Rhode Island Hiking Club The Rhode Island Hiking Club " Walks & Rambles "offer's a variety of hikes from the beginner to the more experienced .We tend to engage in rather challenging hikes often through rough terrain. The purpose of this meetup is to get physically capable people together who want to get out and enjoy the beauty of some of RI's nicest places on foot. This Meetup is for people who enjoy a hike that leaves them satisfied in both the physical level of exertion, the enjoyment of the outdoors, and all the refreshment a hike has to offer the body and mind. This Meetup provides an opportunity to enjoy nature in the company of other adults without the distraction of *cellphones*,( kids), and or (dogs). If you are someone that likes to push yourself physically beyond a pleasant stroll and are at a decent level of physical fitness, then this could be a fun and rewarding Meetup for you.  **\*\*\*To JOIN you must include a clear identifiable picture of yourself. \*\***\* It is important for the Organizers and members to be able to recognize you for safety so include your first name. On 11/11/2011, I became the groups fourth Organizer . I hope to continue and expand the group as we move into the new year .By keeping with the groups original format . We are a hiking group based on the book ( Weekend Walks in Rhode Island by Ken Weber ). Thanks to Michael the clubs founder for starting this group. My goal is offer more people like yourselves the opportunity to experience what this little state has to offer and our surrounding neighbors Connecticut and Massachusetts and with occasional hikes to New Hampshire . Most people have no idea what is right in there back yard . My intent is to show them . We offer good exercise , good company and short travel all at no charge .What else could you ask for . During the winter months we will continue hiking through the season along will more activities such as snow shoeing and cross country skiing , possibly .. When the Summer months approach we will continue to hike either evenings or early mornings .We also will need more organizer’s to do this and I cant stress this enough . With your help we can make a good club a great one . See you soon , Tony The following write up is from when Walks & Rambles first started in September of 2009. *We will plan hikes on a weekly basis for Saturday mornings, many Sundays as well, with some after work "walks" as well during the longer daylight days of summer. Weather in RI is always a factor so there's a good chance we won't meet every Saturday. Heavy rain will cancel a hike as will as a particularly hot and humid day in the summer, but most other conditions are suitable for a decent time.* *The laundry and cleaning can wait till you get home. Put yourself first, make some friends, have some fun and improve your outlook.* Note: I left the original name Walks and Rambles in the write up as a tribute to Ken Weber, and Michael, who had the foresight to start this Club back in Sept. 2009.
