Outdoor Connection: Women's Hiking & Outdoors

Dallas, TX

Outdoor Connection: Women's Hiking & Outdoors
**PLEASE READ OUR FULL DESCRIPTION BELOW BEFORE REQUESTING TO JOIN THIS GROUP (CLICK READ MORE). THANK YOU!** Welcome! If you enjoy spending time outside, getting in a good workout, and connecting with others, Outdoor Connection is the group for you.  Whether you're new to the outdoors, or more experienced but can't find anyone to join you on adventures, our group is a great place to build your new outdoor family of friends. We're primarily a hiking group, but we also occasionally post walking, kayaking, biking, camping, backpacking, and informational 101 events. **\~\~ Take the time out of your busy life and make a connection - a connection to nature, to new friends, and most of all to yourself. \~\~** **MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS** * **All members must be female and over the age of 21.**  Our events are for members only - no children, pets, or guests. * Your Meetup name must be your real name (first name only is fine). * **You must have a Meetup profile photo that clearly shows your face**; this should be fairly close (headshot distance i.e shoulders up), forward-facing, non-blurry, with no other people (this is to allow us to accurately identify members at events and is an ongoing requirement to maintain membership). * You must reside in the Dallas / Fort Worth area. **ABOUT OUR EVENTS** * Most of our events are fitness focused and part of our regular members' fitness routines; this means that we're generally moving at a consistent pace and not taking breaks for pictures, snacks, rest, etc. This is a different style of hiking than a lot of people are used to, but it's an awesome opportunity to challenge yourself and grow your abilities! We offer a variety of pace options. * **Our events are members only.** We do not allow guests (if you want to bring a friend, please have them join the group and sign up for the event themselves). * **We do not allow pets or children.** * Some events require members to pay park entry fees, parking fees, campsite fees, rental costs, etc. Members are responsible for paying their own fees for all events. * Our events are generally very early in the mornings to avoid heat and crowds, and we do start hiking right at the posted start time (if you're late, you'll miss us). * We host events throughout the entire Dallas / Fort Worth metro area, and occasionally explore the rest of TX and surrounding states on camping trips. Most of our events are 5-10 mile day hikes. * **We're good stewards of the parks we visit.  We follow Leave No Trace principles, respect trail closures, and are considerate of other park users.** **IMPORTANT!** * Outdoor activities can be dangerous and may result in injury or worse. * Our event organizers/hosts/leaders are *not* guides. They are simply hikers like you who are willing to help gather people together. * You agree by joining our group to hold harmless all members of Outdoor Connection to include our members, group organizers, and event leaders. By joining our events you assume all risks and are responsible for your own physical safety and your property. **DISCLAIMER AND LIABILITY WAIVER** * Outdoor activities (including hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, swimming, biking, and others) are understood to involve inherent risks. It is your responsibility as a group member to observe all appropriate safety measures during any and all activities concerning this meetup group. By participating in this voluntary group, you expressly waive any and all claims that may arise from any of the activities planned, including travel to and from and during the activity, and to understand the organizer, assistants, and the group do not assume liability for personal injuries, death, or destruction or loss of personal property. By participating in the group, you expressly waive any and all such claims against each and every other group member, including without limitation any and all claims against the group organizer or assistant organizers.

EMPTY NESTERS - Women of Tarrant County

Fort Worth, TX

EMPTY NESTERS - Women of Tarrant County
If you're a woman whose children are "all grown up" (even though they never really grow up), and you're in need of some new friends, this could be the group for you! Although there is no age limit and you don't have to be an empty nester, this is mainly for **women ages 50+** who are looking for some new friends to kick back with and and have some fun. Some of us are single; some are married. Some have children; some don't; some even have children still living at home.  **Please note that most of our activities occur in northern Tarrant County (the area bounded by highways 35W/114/121/183/820)**.  We occasionally go outside this area but not often. If you're considering joining our group, but you want to know what kinds of activities we do before you join.... some of our activities include game nights in our homes, dinners out, craft afternoons, theater and movies, shopping, community events, travel (cruises, guided tours, weekends away), and we've even gone boating, fishing, and camping! We're a group of every-day women who like a variety of activities. We schedule events on weekends, week nights, and once in a while, daytime during the week. Members are encouraged to suggest activities. Once you're a member, click on the "Calendar" tab (right above the featured meetup). Look through our calendar, and see if any of our upcoming events appeal to you! This group can be whatever we want to make of it. Give me your ideas for some meetups! Let's have some fun, and while we're doing that, let's make some forever-lasting friends! "Life was meant to be lived, and curiosity must be kept alive. One must never, for whatever reason, turn his back on life." -- Eleanor Roosevelt **NOW, FOR A FEW GUIDELINES:** 1. We use the picture on your profile as a way of identifying you . We require a picture where we can see your face well enough to recognize you. You can have different pictures for different meetups, and ours is private, so only members will see you picture. Also, please use your real name (first name or first name and last name initial are fine) as your member name, otherwise we won't know what to call you. 2. Please RSVP for events. If you do not RSVP, you will be considered a "No." Additionally, if you RSVP that you will attend an event, please honor that commitment. Don't be a "no-show." If you are a no-show three times in a six-month period, you will be removed from the group. 3. We are interested in maintaining an active membership. If you do not attend at least one meetup per six month period (Jan-June, July-December), you will be removed from the group. 4. WITHIN ONE MONTH OF JOINING, please pay your meetup membership dues ($5/year). You may pay through PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle (instructions are under the Discussion section on the Empty Nesters website). 5. This is not a networking club. Promoting your business on our site or at meetups is not permitted. 6. We will occasionally have co-ed or family-friendly events, but typically our events are for women only. 7. The organizers reserve the right to terminate any membership at any time. Thanks!

North Arlington Pickup Soccer... and other sports

Arlington, TX

North Arlington Pickup Soccer... and other sports

Pick-up soccer in North Arlington and the Mid-Cities area. Outdoors for starters, will look into doing it Indoors once we have enough people interested.

This is how we roll:

** SOCCER **

1. Bring a white jersey and a black or other **dark** color one to be part of one team or another (note: light grey has gotten me and others confused in the past, please avoid that color for your jersey if possible).  Shin-guards are highly recommended.

2. We play for periods of 15 minutes with 3-5 minute breaks in between.

3. We have all levels of players so even if you can, don't play too aggressively, don't get anyone hurt. We are doing it for the fun and the exercise so these are not championship matches. Chances are you will end up with a different group of players every time.

4. Bring your own water or sports drinks (and cooler). There is a water fountain there but it does not cool the water and it is a little bit of a walk from where we play. Arlington Parks and Recreation **prohibits** the consumption of alcohol on their properties, even while in your car at the parking lot.

5. We pick up our own trash. There are a few trash cans nearby (at least 2 close than he water fountain). If you have empty water bottles or any kind of trash, please put it where it belongs.

6. Please join the group if you plan to attend and have not joined. Tell your guests the same thing, please. It helps us plan accordingly and it helps you stay up to date. If you don't have meetup.com configured to send you email notifications about the activity of the this group [or if you do but don't read them :-) ], please be sure o visit the group page. Use the Discussions functionality, either at the group or event level.

7. Game rules.
     a) We play with no goalie. Please do not block the goal, play defense instead.

     b) When out of bounds or a goal is scored, the ball is just put back into play by the corresponding team. There are no throw-ins, we just start playing again, unless it is a corner kick, we do take corner kicks.

     c) If you need a break before the game is over (e.g. when I forget to start the timer), just tell your teammates and take your break.

     d) Have fun... lots of fun!!

See you there!!

** NOT SOCCER **

Well... we started with soccer and the group is fairly new still. We intend to organize other sports or activities soon (like sand volleyball, mountain biking, hiking or anything else we can do at or near the River Legacy Park in North Arlington)
