Shearer Hills Outdoor Ministry
Looking for fun outdoor activities with other people? The Shearer Hills Outdoor Ministry is designed to provide opportunities for everyone to enjoy God's creation through a variety of outdoor recreation programs. If you're interested in a particular activity, and it's not being planned for a group that you belong to, please let Carolyn know. At our Missions and Ministry Fair each September, she will collect surveys from interested participants, which will lay the foundation for the events scheduled in the upcoming year. Many events are only available on particular days or seasons so sometimes there isn't a lot of flexibility on when it can be scheduled. Please note that **SINGLE ADULTS** are welcome to attend **ADULT COUPLE** activities. Adult couples are welcome to attend single adult activities. **ADULTS** are welcome to attend activities designed for **FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN** (with the understanding that the activity is geared for children). Adult only activities will not have attendees under 18 present. **MULTIGENERATIONAL** activities can be attended by anyone and the **ENCORE** ministry events are available for our adults, fifty-five and older. Come join in the fun. The Legal Stuff: Your leaders, organizers, and hosts are just fellow member volunteers. By participating in our events, you assume all risks of liability and injury inherent in those types of activities. You are responsible for your own safety and for determining if you are in a condition fit to participate. By becoming a member or participating in events, you understand that the description of these risks is not complete, and that these risks, and unknown or unanticipated risks, may result in injury, illness or death.

Thinkers & Drinkers International (USA/San Antonio)

San Antonio, TX

Thinkers & Drinkers International (USA/San Antonio)
[https://thinkersanddrinkers.international](https://thinkersanddrinkers.international) Building on the success of our 10,000+ members in locations all around the world, we are a group of locals, internationals and visitors alike who aren't afraid of thinking while drinking. We are dedicated to the following: Open Communication In Person Social Networking Adventures Community Involvement Good Times with Great People We are open to anyone with an open mind, drive for new ideas and creating connection with people in your community. //Ian & Co. \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*Reviews of our group: \* I was new to San Antonio and eager to find a fun, interesting crowd. Enter T&D under the inspired leadership and direction of one Ian C. Perry. It's been a 18 months of great conversations, killer hangs and hilarious misadventures. And I met my best friends and boyfriend through the meetup! These are my kinda people. -- Sherry, 38, Tennessee \* Thinkers n Drinkers has been a fascinating experience for me. It is a discussion group with a wide range of topics and a diverse group of people that NEVER got heated. Even though the topics can be controversial and polarizing, no one was ever shouted down or became visible angry, only diplomatic and personal conversations. Thinkers n Drinkers is a safe space where one can speak and share freely. Ian is a fantastic facilitator that sets a space that is open and inclusive. All perspectives are welcomed, encouraged and nurtured. The community created through Thinkers n Drinkers lives on outside of the weekly meetings through friendships and adventure outings. Thanx Ian!!!! -- Alexei, 31, Texas \* Drinkers and thinkers is a place that challenges your thinking and to learn about perspective. I always loved being intrigued by other people's opinions and learn more about the topic of that night. I am more of a listener than a talker but it did make me more confident in speaking and not being judged. Its a great group that I got to experience a few times. -- Juanita, 19, Colorado \* The best part about this group is getting to meet really cool people. You get share and express your ideas and opinions on different topics of life and also welcome in new ideas you may never have thought about before. Plus the drinking part is always fun. -- Lacey, 26, Florida \* It all started a couple years ago with a discussion on what defined happiness. Since being hooked by that enlightenment, I have enjoyed many discussions (with beer in hand) over subjects ranging from relationships and religion to success and money. Sometimes broad like "What is success". Sometimes specific like "Is monogamy necessary in a relationship". I always thought the taboo topic of politics would have made things interesting for the diverse/open minds in the group, but maybe it would have led to unfriending on Facebook, so better left unspoken and we all stay Thinkers, Drinkers and Friends. -- Joe, 63, Texas \* Moving across the country is like any big change in life. Finding yourself in new surroundings and meeting new people is simple enough however, most often you find yourself having superficial conversations and making light acquaintances. Thinkers and Drinkers was a breath of fresh air. I found myself surrounded by people who like me wanted to have meaningful conversations, people who wanted to delve deeper than the normal light chat we all find in a bar. The group breaks down the barriers by combining fun, social activities like meeting in bars, camping, outdoor activities, coupled with honest exploration of a variety of topics. I would highly recommend this to anyone searching for good conversations and great friends. -- Jason, 38, Connecticut \* Diverse, witty, brain stimulating, and headed by the most awesome Meetup organizer. I miss it tremendously and might move to Stuttgart. Wait no more and join the fun. -- Ikram, 35, Morocco \* A friend invited me to a Thinkers and Drinkers meet-up. I don't drink, so I was a bit doubtful. I am SO glad I went! The conversation was wonderful, and the people even more so. I've since gone on multiple camping trips and other various T and D events, made new friends, connections, and a slew of inside jokes. The events are always well-organized, and the founder, Ian, is a total hoot. You are and always will be welcome, and he makes sure you know it :) -- Kara, 29, New York Connect: Instagram: @ThinkersDrinkersInternational Facebook: [https://www.facebook.com/thinkersdrinkersinternational/](https://www.facebook.com/thinkersdrinkersinternational/) Podcast: [https://www.spreaker.com/user/thinkersdrinkersinternational](https://www.spreaker.com/user/thinkersdrinkersinternational) Email: ThinkersDrinkersInternational@gmail.com

The San Antonio Nature Hounds

San Antonio, TX

The San Antonio Nature Hounds
The San Antonio Nature Hounds is San Antonio’s finest recreational group dedicated to providing a great outdoor experience for both people and dogs. Although, we have, and always will be primarily a group dedicated to activities related to dogs, dog walking, and dog-friendly locations, having a dog is not required to join our group. Living in the beautiful City of San Antonio, and in the Texas Hill Country area, we have a unique opportunity to explore the Great Outdoors with our canine friends, and we take full advantage of this fact. Because we are a large group with dedicated Organizers, we are proud to be able to provide a large number of walking events and other events throughout the City of San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country, daily, often in the mornings and evenings throughout the year. Our ability to provide numerous events to our large membership is one of the keys to our success as a group, and allows our busy but active members to join us frequently throughout each month. Our events are not exclusively dog walking events. We also enjoy other activities such as camping, kayaking, dog training, rally training, social events, and benefit events which may or may not always be dog-friendly events. Our events usually take place in local City Parks and Greenbelts during the week. Our marquee event each week is our Wednesday Night Walk which is conducted on various places on the now expanded River Walk. We also frequent many of San Antonio’s other major City Parks throughout the week and on the weekends including Brackenridge Park, Hardberger Park, McAllister Park, Eisenhower Park, and OP Schnabel Park, as well as many of the other lesser known City Parks. Additionally, many of our weekday walks, particularly in the summer, are along the newly finished Salado Creek, Medina River and Leon Creek Greenbelts. Perhaps the most exciting events of the Nature Hounds are our weekend trips to various State Parks. We go to many of Texas’s most spectacular State Parks including Enchanted Rock, Lost Maples, Gardner State Park, Bastrop State Park, Guadalupe River State Park, Pedernales Falls State Park, McKinney Falls State Park, Hill Country State Natural Area, and our local Government Canyon State Park as well as others. We cater to all walking skill levels, to all ages, and to all breeds of dogs. With over 6,000 members, and close to 200 events each year, we are sure that we have something for you! If you are looking to improve your health, or improve the health and socialization of your dog, or make some new friends, or perhaps all of the above, come join us, we know you’ll have a great time!

San Antonio Plus Size Women's Hiking Group

San Antonio, TX

San Antonio Plus Size Women's Hiking Group
Our Mission Statement:  San Antonio Plus Size Women's Hiking Group aims to help women thrive while connecting with each other through fun and beneficial activities. By promoting the physical and mental benefits of hiking, in an inclusive and positive environment, we encourage women to step outside of their comfort zones and embrace their most authentic self. Hiking isn’t about losing weight, it’s about feeling good about yourself and having FUN. The size of your body does not determine the size of your journey. San Antonio Plus Size Women's Hiking Group has been in existence since March 2, 2019 and has been offering hikes on a regular basis since that time. We currently have a fun, supportive and diverse group of active members involved in the hikes. This group is for women of any age, shape, size, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and gender identity who enjoy hiking but might feel a bit intimidated or uncomfortable in a more traditional hiking group. This group is focused on being active outdoors, trying new things and creating a community of empowered women. Probably the most common advantage of an all-women’s group is the camaraderie, atmosphere of support, and personal sharing that happens. There is also a lot more laughter! And when it includes building specific skills, women are much more likely to try new things in a single-sex group. Our hikes vary in length and level of difficulty. We will hike at a comfortable pace for everyone and NO WOMAN WILL BE LEFT BEHIND. Our approach is simple – we start as a group, stay as a group, and finish as a group. The Legal Stuff: Your hike leaders, organizers, and hosts are just fellow member volunteers. By participating in our hikes, you assume all risks of liability and injury inherent in hiking activities. You are responsible for your own safety and for determining if you are in a condition fit to participate. By becoming a member or participating in events, you agree the description of these risks is not complete, and that these risks and unknown or unanticipated risks, may result in injury, illness or death. **GROUP GUIDELINES:** * **Women Only**. Men are not allowed. This is a hiking group for people who identify as women (ages 15+). * **NO WOMAN LEFT BEHIND** is not just our group motto, it should be your mindset when you join us on a hike. * **Leave No Trace**. When we're out in nature, please practice "Leave No Trace" principles so that we make a minimal impact on the places we explore. * **Be Kind and Courteous**. Let's treat everyone with respect. Healthy debates are natural but kindness is required. Honor and value other each other even if you do not agree with their views or actions. Even when you disagree with someone, you can still talk to them and treat them with respect. * **No hate speech, bullying or body shaming**. Our group is full of different body shapes, sizes, and colors. Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind is not allowed and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation or gender identity will not be tolerated. * **Respect everyone's privacy**. Being part of this group requires mutual trust. Authentic, expressive discussions make this group great, but may also be sensitive and private. What's shared in the group should stay in the group. * **Please stay with the group.** If you insist on leaving the group for whatever reason, please let the group leader know. You will then be on your own. You will no longer be considered as part of the hike group and you assume all risk for a safe return to the parking lot. * **Please know your physical limits**. If you are in distress please communicate your concerns to the group and/or group leader. If it is apparent that you cannot keep up, you will be sent back with someone. We are not professional guides and while we do try to keep everyone safe, your safety is your responsibility. * **Please bring water to all hikes**. If you are doing a longer hike, it would be wise to bring a snack along too. * **Please arrive on time**. It is important that we respect each other's time. **GROUNDS FOR REMOVAL:** \- Intentionally violating any of the group guidelines\. \- More than 3 "no shows" to events and/or constantly holding a spot and canceling at the last minute\. \- Non\-payment of Membership Dues \(removal happens automatically once your FREE trial period is over\) Life is better in groups and I hope our group will encourage you and empower you to be the woman you were created to be in all areas of your life. Happy trails!
