Wasatch Hiking & Outdoors Group

Salt Lake City, UT

Wasatch Hiking & Outdoors Group
**WELCOME!** The Wasatch Hiking and Outdoors Meetup is a group of people that love to hike with others!  We feature hikes for all skill levels, road trips, camping, and social gatherings. We have events throughout the Wasatch Front, including Salt Lake, Davis, Weber, & Utah counties and further!  We even hike at night! **KNOW YOUR LIMITS.** Our Organizers are NOT tour guides, we are NOT rangers.  Going out with us is the same as going out with a few friends.  Expect the same risks, and PLEASE take the same precautions.  As Organizers, we will do our best to give accurate descriptions of the hikes we post.  If you are a beginning hiker, a hike's elevation and distance may not mean much to you.  Likewise, difficulty ratings are subjective, and a hike that is Easy for one person, may be Moderate to another.  Err on the side of caution.  You're much better off going on a hike that's too easy for you than a hike that's too hard or too dangerous for you.  As you go on more hikes with us, you'll become more familiar with our ratings and our descriptions, and you'll learn more about your own limits.  Ultimately, it's up to you to keep yourself SAFE out there.  You are an adult.  Hike within your abilities. **DUES/FEES** There are no membership dues to be a part of this group.  However, Meet-up charges organizers about $180/year.  If you appreciate our group, please consider donating a monetary token of your appreciation by clicking on the "Chip In" button. Some events do cost and we ask for donations to attend those events. Each of those events will specify what is being asked. **INDIVIDUAL EXPECTATIONS** Each person is responsible for themselves in every way. We share information, food, rides, and experience each event as a group of individuals, each person responsible for their conduct, behavior, language and actions. We recognize that people join us to experience the event, so impromptu romantic advances are considered “inappropriate” during the Meetup event. The organizers want to ensure that participants feel safe and comfortable with other group members. Personal information (PI) may be requested to facilitate event logistics (e.g., ride sharing), however, PI will not be shared for any other reason. For some camping events, participants may be asked to verify their identity. When requested, organizers will want to verify the real name of each participant (even if the real name is not used by the person publicly). We may also check each person against government-maintained lists, which may lead to their dismissal from the event. Even though we may do this, it is still the responsibility of each individual to be safe. As a community, we should look out for one another and report any behavior or situations that are suspect, or putting any individual or the group at risk. If participants have any concerns before, during, or after an event, organizers are available to listen, in person or through the private chat associated with Meetup. More verbiage to follow if needed. To learn more about the group, ***BE SURE TO CHECK OUT OUR "ABOUT" PAGE.*** That's also where you'll find our ***FAQ and***  ***Hiking Etiquette*** pages.

Golden Spoke Cycling and Outdoors Club

Salt Lake City, UT

Golden Spoke Cycling and Outdoors Club
Just like the Golden Spike driven at Promontory Summit Utah joined the nation, the **Golden Spoke Cycling and Outdoors Club** is all about bringing people together as we experience cycling and outdoor adventures. Welcome! This is a cycling group with other adventures and events thrown in. We will ride "off road" to explore and socialize vs on road racing and trail shredding. We will use our fantastic, interconnected paved bike paths, Trax, and FrontRunner to travel to biking and non-biking events. Car free and car limited days are the best days! (yay!) We will ride our incredible local mountain bike trails. We will ride single track, double track, dirt road, gravel, and fat bike on snow. We will do day rides, overnighters, multi-day trips, touring, urban bike camping, and bikepacking. **Life is way more fun on a bike!** Some rules: * #1 Be nice! * #2 Helmets are mandatory. * #3 All events and activities are at your own risk. By signing up for this group and attending an event or activity you acknowledge and agree to this policy. * #4 Please update your RSVP-ASAP! Some tips: * Always have your bike in good riding condition, be on time and prepared with whatever you need to successfully complete the event. * Carefully read the event description to see if it matches your skill and fitness level. * Bring the right bike for the terrain. * Events will start at the stated departure time unless we receive a message that you are running late. At that time a decision will be made whether to hold the group or have you catch up. * Every effort will be made to keep the group together. If you ride ahead or turn around you must be prepared to ride alone. * Kindly update your RSVP. Not timely updating your RSVP or no-showing is rude to other group members and the host. We get it. Life happens. Even if it is last minute, update your RSVP. **We look forward to seeing you out there. Let's ride!**
